All I wanted to know was the proper height for a tv. I find that most videos do not answer the question until much too far in. I like to know the answer right away and follow with the explantation. It avoids the frusrtration of having to listen to all kinds of stuff without knowing the answer.
@BitsBytesBobs
@BitsBytesBobs 5 лет назад
A simple rule of thumb is - sit in your chair, relaxed and position your head where it feels natural and comfortable and look ahead. Most people drop their head a bit and their eyes. Usually you will find the bottom of your TV will align with either your nose or your chin. Position your TV there and you wont be straining and can binge watch without eye strain or neck ache. Hope that helps.
@oysteinsoreide4323

You must actually find out by feeling what the right height is, because everybody are sitting differently, so the final answer will be individual.

@@BitsBytesBobs we always recline watching tv or lay down. We never sit so higher up is alway better. Our tv above the fireplace works good and in our theatre room we had it just above seated eye level and it is too low for the way we watch. So I moved it up and now it’s perfect.

When picking my TV's height off the floor I realized that the recommended "eye level" suggestions from the internet made the view from the kitchen of the bottom of the screen blocked by the "eye level" heads of people sitting on the couch. I stuck an above average height person on the couch, went into the kitchen and sighted just above thier head to the wall where the TV was going to mount, and that's how I picked the bottom of my screen. Moral of the story is to consider all possible viewing locations before installing blocking and/or drilling holes.

Help me with this then I have two tvs and I need both one for gaming and one for general tv use, should I wall mount the second one above or next to the other one? I have an oled on a huge arena gaming desk 48" and a Samsung qled. Sat at the desk the 48" oled is perfect just need to find the right location for the qled.

I moved mine down from on top of a fairly tall infrared heater fireplace look-alike because of eye strain issues. The new position is a bit too low compared to what you have said, but the colors are less washed out and my eyes feel better!

AAANNDD… viewing angle from proper tv positioning is very important because the picture can get distorted, colours washed out, and black levels would raise if you aren’t viewing at the right angle. Your tv will look a lot better square on, at the correct height. Especially if your tv has a VA panel, (narrow viewing angle capability) IPS panels can suffer poor picture quality at harsh angles to a point as well. Hence why OLED TVs are superior.

Spacing. First of all, it's always best to put the television at eye level. This is best so that when you are seated, you're not straining your neck or eyes by looking up or down to see the screen. Usually, about 4 feet off the ground is good.

This is great... my other half wanted a TV put in the conservatory so just like all the other TV's in the house i put it at natural eye level...but she wanted it high up and i tried to explain all the reasons why it should not go at high level... She would not listen and so its now fitted at a high and very uncomfortable level. I need to make her watch this video to confirm what i said in the first place....Perfect video...love it........

I had already decided not to wall mount my TV above the fireplace mantel. What I was hoping to find out in this video is the recommended ergonomics. I intend to use a TV stand atop a cabinet. What is the recommended eye level? For example, if I draw a horizontal line from my eye sockets to the screen, should that line intersect the middle of the screen? I also seek advice on viewing distance as it relates to the size of the screen. It is possible for one to be too far away or too close for comfortable viewing no matter what size the screen. I need to anticipate the best dimensions so I can adjust furnishings before committing to a TV purchase. I also want to know about window position if daylight glare is a problem.

We have ours so the our eyes fall on the middle of the screen (a 50 inch about 7 feet away) it's a very comfortable position.

Natural viewing angle is horizontal. Actors in movies are usually placed at one third below the top of the screen (Rule of Thirds, ask any camera man). Two thirds should be below eye level, one third above. Try it for a month. Thank me later.

Makes perfect sense really, listen to this guy if you don't want years of posture problems and pain. Had a recliner in the past that fitted in with the modern trend of having TV's mounted high, this thing was pre-set to only one position, reclined, and couldn't tilt forward. Of course you put you TV higher to meet the tilt of you head but you can't see It well, you're basically looking at the ceiling, so you use a cushion behind your head. But of course now your neck is at a literal right angle to watch the screen causing lots of issues. I've been a lot happier since buying a solid backed upright chair, and using the eye meeting in the middle of the screen rule. Honestly guys don't mount high, I brought a mobile TV stand, which you can wheel where ever you want and adjust the height at leisure. This is perfect for smaller TV's as well as you can move closer when watching, and away when to store away. I always wondered why I was comfier back in the 90's, 00's watching TV's when they were simply on a TV cabinet and Recliners weren't all the rage.

I don’t follow any of these stupid rules. I don’t like the way it looks when it is so low when it is at eye level when your sitting down. And it throws off the balance of the rest of the things on the wall. I have always put the center of the tv at between 65-68 inches from the ground. Basically eye level when your standing. I tilt the tv down a little bit and it has always been comfortable and I have NEVER had any neck strain issues. Plus, He says to not put it higher because it’s not natural to look up but then he says you can put it to where you have to turn your neck a little. So turning your neck left or right is okay but not up or down?? I say do what you want and what looks good to YOU. I think putting it too low throws the whole room off and looks dumb. So in my opinion, the perfect height is having the center of the tv at the 65-68ish inch mark, just like your pictures should be.
