I know exactly where he is coming from because I know from my experiences working 4 years as a Juvenile Correctional Officer. You'll never know what to expect walking through those doors. You have to be safe and protect yourself at all times.

I’m also a DO. Great career move! It can be aggravating at times and involves a lot of moving around, but it’s rewarding. If you’re the type to just sit around all day, or expecting a desk job, this position is not for you. These residents have stories. If you respect them, they will respect you.

It’s always rewarding to watch staff who try to make a difference. The job isn’t for everyone, but for those who are there for the right reasons it can be life changing. Thanks for commenting @Fay Kouri. ❤️

This man seems honest, and it must be tough to watch kid's come in and out, knowing that a very small number will make it. To watch the whole gang thing just decimating these kid's is awful. It wasn't racism, but a reality of gang mentality, in the UK, they have serious gang issue's going back to 1920, and the population is white. Parenting is piss poor in this country, either the kid gets no discipline and then gets into trouble, or you have broken home's with one parent, and violence and drug's involved. We don't have enough parent's doing it right. You go one of two ways when you grow up in a bad home life, either you lash out, or you turn it inward, and the hell that goes with that makes this juvenile jail look like a cake walk. Good video. God bless these kid's.

Do you have any videos on what the officers do to prepare physically? I'm looking into going into this field and I know they have to train somewhere for a few weeks.

I don’t know if I’m understanding him correctly or not. But he keeps saying they’re kids and come from good homes, but at the same time he said that if they commit certain offenses, he’s gunna treat them like adults. Kids make mistakes, just like adults. Not every kid in detention is just a bad kid. I know this personally. Reactive instead of proactive is exactly what this sounds like to me. I could be wrong though. Help me out on this one

I was locked up in ft. Lauderdale djj for a long time from one mistake. And I've also been to prison. Personally I feel like it's really messed up that just was worse.. but. It was the guards alotta the time. Knocking kids teeth out and breaking arms.. I'm not saying they were all bad but if I didn't go through that I wouldn't be the hard no soul kinda person I am now. I'm not bad but I probably would be better person
