Yeah jockeys know whether their horse has a chance and if it's 11th and around 10 lengths behind with a furlong to go, they're gonna ease up to save the horse from exhaustion - it's pointless running it into the ground at that stage

The thing is they are all meant to do there best ,to ride out and horse to the best of there ability and if that is the fastest horse ,and big fav we know most of the time they never ride favs out ,when it's a close finish mostly favs come second you can even see a jockey give the fav a tug near the line just to make sure .

I often watch this video for a laugh. I part owned this horse and had a good bet on her. She didn't get the trip and only ever won when she felt like it. We bet her every time she ran in the 7 years we owned her. I could show you plenty of disappointing runs and some tremendous runs. She always won coming off a fast pace but this was her one and only go at 1m 2f in over 100 races. I am sure you wont change your mind but that's just tough.

Bags greyhounds is put there by bookies who own the tracks and the racing manager.All 60 dogs at a 10 race card are worth zero as most cannot qualify to race in Ireland and are given free rather than put them down.90% of BAGS are from Ireland that absolutely hopeless.I sold a bitch to Sunderland track for £20 as she could not reach qualifying time in Ireland she won 22 races and in doing so still never reached Irish qualifying time.I would rate greyhound racing the most corrupted sport on the planet at the higher level.

There was a time when you could have a horse in training in Ireland for €400/€500 per month, check out prices now, you will be shocked, but I do agree with you.

If this was done deliberately there's no guarantee that they would get higher odds in later races. The ratings are calculated based on the competitors future performances as well as the individual horses. If the horses it gets beat off go on to do well, then its rating won't decrease that rapidly, but if the other horses go on to do nothing then they must have been poor and beatable, so the rating will go down more - the rating system is quite complex. Then factor in that when you drop in the ratings you also drop back in class. This means that you're going up against possibly weaker horses (apart from those that are less exposed) and you're deemed as being a better horse because you'll likely be top weight in the lower class races (your rating doesn't drop that fast not to be), so therefore your odds will also be one of the shortest in the next race. Longer odds are only really gained from a poorer lineage and really long term poor performances against other horses who have done nothing in future races. The biggest way people can cheat is to lay the bet on the exchanges - betting against your horse winning. So if a jockey finishes 2nd or 3rd it looks as though they have tried, but you could get them to ease up. I still think this is hard to do though as horses tend to just go when they're racing and if you eased it up it would be obvious.

No they do not tell jockeys to lose it. They don't have to, as there are numerous other ways not to win.

This horse was 11/1 in a 12 runner race and you do not usually have to throw a race under those circumstances in order for it to get beaten.

Sovereign won the Irish Derby 2019 in a record time, shaving 1.5 seconds off the old record. ( 2nd 3rd and 4th were on the pace) The difference in stud fees for a Derby winner and an "also ran" runs into millions, so they are all trying, not least the two supplementary entries that cost their owners €85,000 each to take part!

@@TheBdylan23 The horse was stopped in the other derby and given a start in the irish the others were not on the pace they were kept behind like the newcastle race, I dont know what race you were watching you should go to specsavers. The newcastle track had a race over the same distance that the steward won only days later and the winner clocked 9 seconds faster than the steward, thats 36 lengths at 4 lengths a second but all the horses raced on merit and were not pulled back at all.
