I see that you created this excellent guide with as few parry recommendations as possible. My management of shield energy was horrible, so I never thought about using shield dash to counter every one of Toshi's melee attacks. Using shield dash is definitely more approachable than trying to learn the parry timing for every one of Toshi's melee attacks. Thank you again for making an enjoyable game even more enjoyable.
No problem at all, I find it all pretty fun to do. And yep, I really like parrying in this fight because he attacks so much with his sword that parrying can end the fight really fast. But I know the parry window on his attacks is tight so I thought it best not to. I didn't intend to parry at all, but ended up having to at the start of phase 2 because I got a bit greedy with staying near the boss.
I’ve only started this game on Master Spirit difficulty because I wanted to get the platinum on only one run. Definitely hard like a souls game. Is the lower levels still as hard?
So I sat down today to try this fight, planning on having half an hour or so of attempts as a break from studying. Beat the fight in less than 10 minutes on my 3rd or 4th attempt. I guess I'm taking a shorter break than I thought lmao But seriously, been following all your master boss guides and they're a fantastic help. I would be nowhere near as far through as I am without them so thanks! :)
Fuzzy Bearbarian you are amazing! Thank you for making these vids, you helped me get the platinum. I thought it would be too tough for me but you made it simple and doable.
Fuzzy thank you for the videos. Only way I can beat the game. Not sure I’ll be able to do platinum! But heck your videos are awesome and helping a ton. The battening is like Elden Ring! Hard.
Good job captain... I deeped sixed him in expert diff but when i replayed the game on master i just wanted the plat trophy so i dont have to waste my time fighting him again with a new useless strategy from my mind, also it is quite fun using ur strat ... Thx alot.
That was sick ive been struggling on toshi the last few days the rest of the game ive been able to figure. Cool ideas i always forget about the shield i keep messing up parries instead
I found your video after I’ve fought this boss for almost 3 hours on master difficulty 😂 I totally forgot about the dash ability and it could’ve come so handy for me omg man😂
Took a few tries for my thumbs to wake up lol. But I always take these videos and alter them into my fail-proof boss cheese of rot bomb, heavy charged, repeat. It's worked on nearly every boss so far
Great video as usual. My strategy on expert was to spam shield dash as he began attacking; get some hits in and dodge his single swipe; run away as far as possible to build shield. I downed him once using rot arrow by luck when he charges the tracking projectiles, but didn’t know the eye glow is the cue. Only got hit once when I beat him (probably the first sword strike during phase 2). All bosses, once you figure them out (10-20 tries) can be dealt with easily (taking 1-2 hits) without even healing once. I would recommend people to try to defeat bosses once without your guide on preferably expert before watching your videos.
Yeah, I always recommend people try and try and try for themselves before referring to a guide. Go for a guide only once you feel the frustration getting a little too much. I never look at guides before beating a boss. Never. After I beat a boss though I'm happy to see how others do it differently.
Fantastic video and guide on this fight. What was beginning to be unbearable, before watching this, ended up being quite a good fight. Got him after about 3 tries, getting used to the different approach. I was doing fairly well with the dodges and got in a few parries before I watched this video, but this was so much cleaner. Got a sub out of me as well now, especially after seeing your a fellow Aussie 🇦🇺😃🤘🏻
I just want to thank you in advance this is the only boss I can't figure out how to dodge properly or consistently. If I beat him it will be because.of this video.
You make it look so easy. I wonder if they made any changes after the anniversary update. I just completed my first pass of the game before I try master difficulty on New Game+
Nicely done! I did it very similarly but instead of dashing I threw bombs as he attacked. Dashing seems safer though as I sometimes found myself missing him with the bombs 😅 Out of curiosity which boss did you find the hardest on master? By far I struggled the most with Corrupt Taro. The rest went surprisingly pain free.
I didn't really struggle with any of the main bosses since I'd already made guides on them on expert mode, and mechanically speaking on master they were pretty much the same. However, I would say the chest in the house in the village was my main struggle. I'd go as far as to call that chest a boss lol. It took quite a few tries before I finally beat the "Chest Boss" lol, and even then I think I only had like 1 second left on the timer.
There seems to be a way to loop his AI into making this fight easy. At the beginning of the fight, lock onto him, run closer and do the double shield dash. Then sprint and heavy attack. He will show a stagger animation. After this, run (not sprint) to his right and then around him. Do the run for about half a second and then start sprinting. Do this to try and keep him in the centre of the map when he does his next attack. He will do a lunge attack at which point you will be behind him and will be sprinting. Do the sprint heavy attack and he will show the stagger animation again. Repeat the running around and sprinting heavy attack. I just did this on the latest patch on master and it worked fine. Trick is to keep him away from the border. If he breaks out of the cycle, then try to initiate the sprint jump attack at some point again which will start looping him again.
Holy crap the Shield Dash is extremely underrated PS: literally beat him 1st try without taking more than 2 hits by focusing mainly on shield dashes and stunlocking him after seeing this (on Normal, but still)
Any suggestion of what to do if he doesn’t follow this pattern at all? I dash at the beginning and strong attack. He either blocks it or jumps away and does his 3000 fire sword combo on me. Really do like your videos. They’ve helped me with a bunch of the bosses on master!!
If he blocks your shield dash it's because you're shield dashing too early. It's an interrupting move, so you have to time it with when he's starting a move of his own. Just wait patiently until he starts to telegraph a move of his own eg. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CF87m6bbdKY.html
Your welcome fam I’ve been following your guides they’re just perfect. Im at just before this boss fight taking a break before I get stressed out again 😂
@@bilboswaggends4523 Deep breathing exercises at the way for me. Sometimes I take deep controlled breathes while doing boss fights and find I just cruise through all relaxed. But if I forget to breathe properly I get stressed out too lol. 🤢
I don't understand the concept of "shield dashing twice", it just looks like he is just dashing once, and then just doing the shield expansion, rather than dashing it. Anyone know what's that about ?
Please tell me the corrupted rot God guide is coming soon. I have hit a wall with its grab attack and no one seems to know how to avoid it properly. I lose all my health to it before I even get past the first stage. Love your vids, they have really helped me get through the master difficulty. 💕
Yep, my day off is today so I'll be doing it and uploading it today. Unfortunately YT takes forever to process 4K files, so not sure how quickly it will be up, but I'm on it. In the meantime, avoid it's grab attack by shield dashing to the left under its armpit twice until you're at its back. You can do this double shield dash even when it's just crawling toward you, you don't have to wait for the actual attack. Shield dash twice to the left under its armpit and you'll always be safe from any of its front attacks.
It doesn't happen with all bosses, but some bosses will fully charge all your rot abilities the instant you deplete their health bar. I think it's the same as when you get rot energy from damaging an enemy, only with certain bosses the final blow to their health bar counts as a ton of damage. Not sure of the point of it though tbh.
maybe they patch something but the sprint heavy stun lock doesn't do anything, his attack pattern after the first dodge is also completely different. Going back to my initial strategy that brought me way further but overall very frustrating fight. Nevertheless, great video and fighting skills.
I no damaged this very first time on master. It was easy because I had already learned how to no damage it when I played expert mode. But to make this video took a few more tries, maybe a dozen or so, because I had to work out an easier method to beat him that I thought most people would be able to replicate.
This guide is good don't get me wrong, but as usual for people that uploads them, boss seems almost scripted with very predictable moves. I acknowledge that the guide was not done in one attemp though.
Yeah, lots of practice goes into these. It's kind of hard because by the time I work out how to beat them really well, I can go flawless every single time, which then makes it look like the boss was compliant in making the guide rofl. Maybe in the future I'll drop the no damaging part and try to make these guides before I get really good at the fight. I don't know, it's a hard one to juggle to get right.
Sorry, what is a double shield dash? I keep doing one, and it doesn’t work, but it doesn’t look like you are doing two. I cannot beat this guy and it is absolutely making me lose my mind. I’ve truly began to hate this game with everything in me. It’s no longer fun in any capacity. This fight is so poorly done and this difficulty is beyond ridiculous. It doesn’t feel like a challenge, it feels like a hate message from the devs.
Now I see that I had approached this battle way too defensively. I had defeated him a few months ago but I got a bit stuck now. Would try to be more aggressive and hopefully my timings would be at least decent. Thanks for the guide.
