Update: Patch v1.10 modified the fight and took away the ability to interrupt the sword slam by using a bomb (to prevent minions spawning). I now recommend saving courage so that you have two rot arrows to take out the minions when they get spawned. Try to line up the boss with the two minions if you can, but otherwise, concentrate on the two minions with rot arrows to get rid of them fast.
@@the-rob-effect Hey, thanks for the comment! Glad to hear it still works. I now suspect the reports from people saying it doesn't may have been either a glitch on their end or maybe the bombs were exploded just a microsecond too late or something. Thanks again!
Yep, sure does because minions suck at the best of times, but especially in this. Also knowing the bomb triggers her 3 combo, and knowing how to use that combo to put damage on, makes it that you can avoid minions and direct the boss to do the attack you want her to do. Takes phase 2 from being troublesome to being a cinch.
I really appreciate this man. I couldn’t get a good groove on the second wave. It turned a frustrating part of the fight into something actually a little fun. Thanks again!
This is a terrific guide, thank you! I finished Master yesterday, and also watched some other boss guides you did. The dash against Toshi is so OP, makes the fight kind of irrelevant. Also what I really learned from your vids is how good doublejump is to avoid attacks. I used to only use dodge, block and parry, but double jump is so good and lets you punish a lot of attacks, that the other moves can't. Again, thank you!
I started this game not long ago expecting a pretty chill experience...it's bloody brutal! I got up to this boss last night and didn't manage a single bit of damage and ended up giving up. This guide should help a bit...hopefully!
This game’s boss battles are fucking brutal, on par with God of War which I never expected because it looks like a Pixar movie. I’ve been stuck on this boss for a week and finally had to cave and look up a tutorial.
So Master difficulty is the only trophy I need for the Platinum and all the other bosses weren’t too bad so far except for this one. I legit got stuck but you helped me beat it! Thank you so much!
Oh my God! Thank You!! I was having trouble with this boss much more than even the final boss(es) Thanks to you I actually had a even easier time dealing with this fight on Master mode than on my first playthrough. And my first playthrough was Expert. The overall combat and damage is relatively the same as Expert Difficulty, just you lose Courage energy when taking any damage (Even Your Own Bombs!) also I noticed when fighting the stone guardian in the forge and trying to expose the weak points on the elbow, face, heel, and shoulder the rock shield regenerates a bit more faster than in Expert Mode (Thanks for your help on that fight too). Other than that the combat is basically the same difficulty... The "weak" enemies does about the same damage as the running bomb guys, even at the start, which is annoying considering you don't even have any basic abilities unlock yet, but are much manageable once you upgrade to at least rot lvl 2or so.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. And yep, losing courage in master adds to the difficulty - it makes it that even if you're not trying to go flawles you still have to try to no damage as best you can anyway. I also noticed the Stone Guardian seemed to hide his crystals faster too. Me, I preferred nearly all of the fights on master because when you no damage fights they go about as fast as they can go, but master allowed them to go a little longer for me to enjoy them - and I did enjoy many of them. My favorite is probably the Hunter with the Warrior second. Really love those two fights.
I enjoy this game alot and this was my first boss that i didn’t like. The second phase just didn’t feel good. I thought that i look on RU-vid how to do it correctly. With this guide the boss became so fun! Got it second try and it may even have have been the best boss yet because it was challenging to get the timings right! Thank you so much
After trying this, I actually discovered i could parry her as well, and that was awesome. Thanks, your guide let me survive long enough to find that out
Could barely get to phase 2. This got me thru first try after watching it. Kinda botched the 2nd phase, but scraped by with a hit but scraped by with a sliver of health left, which is sorta my specialty. Liked and subbed!!
You really saved my ass here. I've switched to Master difficulty with the NG+ and it was brutal. With your guide I managed to get her down before the third phase where she heals up quite a bit again (although it took me a lot of tries).
@@the.llamaguy not sure if it was maybe patched out since then.. I basically saved up my rot attacks and then stunned her shortly before phase 3 .. didn't work right away but after a couple of tries I somehow got it
@@schatzhm23 yeah i did the same eventually and it worked. In the video he said you should stun her right as you enter phase 2 but waiting untill shw has low hp worked better for me
Just complete this fight on latest version. The bomb trick does work P2 as long as you don't break the crystal. As soon as you destroy it, the bombs wont interrupt him. Best bet is to only destroy the crystal when your around 30-40% left and have a few rot hammers lined up. p.s. cheers for the videos :)
Excellent guide all around and staying around until the start of the cutscene was nice too. I prefer that to videos ending abruptly after the killing blow.
Back again because while I thought I had this fight figured out from playing it on Expert, Phase 2 seems much tankier this time around and I look forward to trying some of these tricks!!
To make it even easier, in the final step when stunned with the crystal out don't shoot at yellow crystal, but focus on the body, so that deal damage without dodging attacks, than when the health is low deal the final blow at cystal and a couple of rot hammer to finish
This time around, I knew something was up with the golden chest, but I tried everything I could think of, and just gave up and decided to power through her with parries and AI manipulation (the jump aoe attack) Then I wanted to see what I was missing to make this easier, alas I see you use L1 to trigger the bomb and I facepalm. But hey! everything else you did I did almost exactly the same :D (Except the not taking dmg part :V) good video mate!
I am not sure what I'm doing differently, but I whenever I get her down to about 1/3 health she overcharges and regains a fuckton of health again and goes into rage mode. It seems that even spamming the bombs like you're doing does not prevent the health regain and rage mode. Honestly struggled so hard with Taro as well with this stupidity, it is driving me crazy. This fight wouldn't be so bad on master difficulty if she didn't regain all that health.
How might parrying her swipe at the 1:56 mark effect this fight? What would her next move be? Will she try to do a range attack, or does she only do that once you throw a bomb on her? Asking because my rot abilities may not be at that 3 1/2 level. With this new 1.10 patch, has it only stopped the ability to use the bomb to prevent minion spawning or does it also change up the fight with regards to her defense when you throw a bomb on her (the range attack)? I was able to get through to the beginning of the second phase of the fight (after destroying the pillar) and throw the bomb on her to destroy the crystal, but I die quickly thereafter. lol.
It'll stun her momentarily for you to get about 3 hits in, then you need to back off as she'll leap into the air and do a slam that causes fire rings to go out. The rest I can't answer as I'd finished playing Kena as of patch v1.09, but from feedback so far nothing else changes except apparently her ability to continue to slam her sword into the centre to spawn minions. But if you're comfortable to parry her, then you can parry all of her sword attacks (eg. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tcsH1gtWIjg.html). Also, if you put two shots on her crystal before she slams in the center, then one on her while she's in the center like I do in that link I just gave you, you can avoid minions spawning at least the first time she tries to do it. But on master she'll almost certainly get another shot at spawning minions later, but by that time you should have saved up enough courage to rot arrow them straight up.
Only me do i have the luck to take down the boss to 1 hp and get stuck on a tiny little fkn tree in the corner of the arena. LOL. But thanks for the guides man, you are the best, been using them for every boss. Finally beat the fucker :) all thanks to ur guide
Awesome! And it isn't only you. In my first flawless run of the Stone Guardian I remember he was one hit away from dying when I touched one of those plants around the edge of the arena for the first time. At that point I had no idea those plants could damage you. Suffice to say I probably felt like you did when you got the Woodsmith to 1 hp. Or possibly worse, since I had to repeat a fight I really, really didn't like lol.
Ive attempted this 70+ plus times over the last 5hrs then finally did it. The key is not to bomb her during the cutt scene. I found I would get injured in the fire. I thought this boss was hard until I got to the warrior.
Is there anywhere i can just find a list of the moves the bosses do? I hate following these videos guides pace for pace, if i could just find a video or list of every move and how to parry or dodge it, that would help so much more.
It's mostly practice, but you can have bad luck too. Like, if minions spawn and she decides to attack at the exact time they do or something, or if you time a move and the game just doesn't give it to you. Or worse, if the camera locks one way and you can't turn around...which happens. So mostly practice and a healthy does of persistence.
hi, quick question. I had my Sheild upgraded to the max. But why does the boss still damage my shield so quickly? From your video, I saw the boss only did like 1/4 of your shield health. Is there any tip for that?
Not sure, could be a few things. Activating the shield with the right timing will cause it to deflect more damage, but the wrong timing will cause it to take more damage. Different boss attacks will damage the shield differently. Proximity to the attack can have an affect too, again depending on the type of attack. Also, is your shield already at max when you're making your comparison? You'll notice I purposefully keep my shield energy maxed in this fight before any attack that I attempt to block. Could be related to that. Other than that, I'd have to see your gameplay to really know.
Thanks to you I managed to beat her in a few tries. I almost did a no damage too but took a last minute hit ! You seem to be very good at challenging games. Which game was the hardest for you ?
Finally passed this boss battle! Didn't "no damage" through it like you, but just glad to finish this one and move one step closer to that trophy. Now just trying to use the sprint dash to get that cursed chest in the fields area (that one on the bridge) and the village one that rewards you with the unicorn hat. Any tips?
Nice! Ah that one on the bridge is hard on master. For that I recommend parrying to get courage and trying to line up enemies with rot arrows. Use sprint dash to take out a few too, but mostly, parry and rot arrows ftw.
Fair bloody play fuzzy... I did not have the stones for master difficulty, it was hard enough on expert. Shamefully I got in with the exploit before it was patched 😅!
Argh! Sorry for all these questions, but how do you stop the bomb from locking on a minion!? It seems there are times where I jump and as I'm trying to aim at the pillar, it locks on a minion instead. It's so nerve wracking!
Can't answer that one I'm afraid. You can lock on to enemies and move your stick to switch who the lock on is on, but I never locked on as it's easier not to. So all I did was try to position the enemy I wanted to put the bomb on dead center in my screen. Worked most of the time, but not all. I remember in my master difficulty Mask Maker fight a bomb went off to the right onto a minion when I intended it for the boss, making it that I had to fight the minions it was meant to kill had it hit the boss in the middle of them all. So yeah, you just have to try your best is the only advice I can give.
When I beat her and there's a cutscene the game freezes on me. It happened both playthroughs but luckily I could save and didn't have to do the fight over again.
On mine he turn into a fire monster if he gets to lower health and he gets half of his health back. I wounder why he didn't turn to fire on your fight.
If you'd share you keybindings coz default is horrid. Have changed a couple of controls, but there's just too many and remembering what does what. Always end up hitting a wrong button and getting hit, or not being able to jump and aim bow-bomb.
@@fuzzybearbarian Ah, oh. Your play looked fluid, so I thought you must be using kb+m. (EDIT: I beat the boss though, after maybe twenty goes. Hands were shaking at points.)
Unfortunately this video isn't accurate as you can't seem to prevent her from slamming the center and spawning minions at least once or twice. And after her ranged attack, when you get in tight for damage and she jumps, after you jump too and get in close for more damage your Rot Hammer does not prevent her from healing herself and knocking you back with a wave of fire. I've been trying for hours and still can't beat this boss based on the strategy outlined in this video.
@@fuzzybearbarian I did, yet nothing seems to be able to stop her from healing herself and blasting me, no matter when I time that Rot Hammer. Still in a dogfight with this jerk of a boss.
@FuzzyBearbarian it's not really the minions spawning that concern me, I can deal with those. It's when she heals herself and undoes a bunch of the work I've just done and at the same time does a basically unavoidable attack that puts you in dire straits on top of her now recovering almost a quarter of her health. They really patched this boss good, making me want to just pay someone to do it for me at this point because I've lost several hours of my life now lol
@@bradbrooks9012 I gotta admit, I hate boss fights that included minions with a passion. Makes them tedious. But stick with it, you'll get that good run.
@FuzzyBearbarian it's not the minions, I was really hoping the video would have tips on how to eliminate or at least deal with her healing herself but it didn't cover that aspect of the fight. That's what's crushing me every time I attempt it.
Yes, thank you 🙏 for this walk through as I’m still having trouble with the timing but overall I get the concept. Getting to phase 2 is easy just I don’t have the amount of damage like you do getting there. But cross fingers I’ll get it one ☝️ way or another.
Yep, you'll get it. 🤞I'm doing about as much damage as you can be as I was also doing my platinum run at this point so I'd picked up all the Rot thingies. But ultimately the mechanics are the same, so if you've picked up less of the Rot to level up, it'll still only take a few more hits so it's no biggie. Good luck!
Even with the guide I am not able too kill her. She also moves into a rage mode where she heals and gets more furious. Any idea why it happens and how to avoid? Seems like no one else has this problem :(
Yeah, unfortunately patch 1.10 changed things so that it doesn't stop her calling minions most of the time. Occasionally it still does, but mostly it doesn't. I recommend saving courage and using rot arrow to take out the minions now.
Thank you again!!! I'm hoping this is the hardest boss fight for master mode as I really struggled with this one. Eventually got it but! I'm thinking Toshi might give me a lot of trouble.
I'd say it's up there. For no damaging it isn't though. Personally I think the last fight is the hardest, but then I'm talking from someone's view point who tries to no damage. It might be considered not as hard if you're just trying to beat it without worrying about getting hit.
@@fuzzybearbarianI finished it off this morning with the help of your other videos of course 😁 Toshi wasn't too bad, he was quite easy to stun lock like you did in your video. I used the rot bomb a lot which was a huge help. The final boss fight was the most stressful because of the length of it and I didn't want to start over. Doing that no damage would definitely be the hardest but I was only concerned with beating it. Thanks heaps for your help as I definitely wouldn't have beat master difficulty without them. Your skills are amazing, watching how effortlessly you beat some of the bosses was jaw dropping.
And if on the last blow up of the "lamp", you throw and extra bomb instead of some arrows you break the game 😅 Edit: it blew up exactly as the cutscenes of her jumping into the fire started)
