Uhm... I was searching for REV00 Sonic 1 ROM and found this. Either, it's corrupted or just unstable. EDIT: It's a fake, that's what I have discovered.
fun fact, the original beta/prototype of Sonic 1 seen at the Tokyo Toy Show was going to be a special feature in the Sonic Mega Collection, but the developers accidentally lost the rom. Sad to think about.
@@penbfdi2180 I’m not certain, but an unofficial Super Mario Bros. editor was released in Japan that included a (very bad) whole game hack may have been released before it. It probably was, but there’s a very small chance it wasn’t...
That odd Green Hill music sounds a bit like there's a track or two missing somewhere, or the sound effects are overriding it maybe. Possibly the final version uses the grandfathered-in SMS soundchip for some things to free up a channel or two on the FM chip and so allow more things to happen simultaneously? Be interesting to have someone with a bit of programming knowledge to pick that ROM apart and see what the full differences are and maybe patch the illegal operations...
It's not actually corrupted or anything. It was just made to be like that, some stages not working and intentionally crashing at times, just to make it look more "real".
I was good friends with Cyan Helkaraxe back in 1999. Then sometime in the early 2000s, he suddenly disappeared off the face of the Internet. Anyone know what's happened to him?
We (SSRG Reunion panel) are actually looking for both Cyan ... and TomSonic. Looks like I found one of you two. :) How's it been? I take it that it's too late to ask you to come to RetroWorldExpo 2023 in Hartford next weekend, is it? Ya, we are not sure what happened to Cyan. He vanished one day many years ago. His old website is still up as he left it all those years ago.
Bruce Dalla Pria C only works if an instruction is broke, where it will skip the offending instruction in the ROM and carry on. This looks like a bad jump, so it won't work.
''Green Hill'', ''Labyrinth'', 'Star Light'', ''Sparkling (Spring Yard)'', ''Clock Work (Scrap Brain)'', and ''Final''? Why does Final Zone have 3 acts? And what the hell happened to Marble zone?
I liked the intro song better. More... Genesisy... Green Hill's music is better than the original, plus it sounds like a 8-bit remix sometimes. There is no Marble Zone also.
@Inspector Woomy The reason why Green Hill sounds like an 8 bit remix, is because Sega used the Master System's PSG chip, that made the genesis bleepy and snarey
I played that lol. yeah, I'm not 100% sure but I have played it and it's either the "Sonic 1 beta hoax" Which was *The first* Internet sonic rom hack, or the "Sonic 1 beta recreation" Which was designed to look like a beta and break things just to see what it'd be like.
Clock Ork Is Scrap Brain's Zone From The Prototype. Same Goes For Sparkling Zone. Sparkling Zone Was Spring Yard's Zone name From The Prototype. Have Fun.
this wasn't a BETA, just a romhack meant to look like one. Also, the original poster of the ROM was passing this off as a beta from sometime in 1991, so yeah... But don't forget, that this is still a hoax! An elaborate one too.
