We brought some friends and the dog on the trimaran today.
Wind was 15-25 and the seas were pretty rough so a pretty exciting time for all.
We got cold and wet and had to go home.
The OpenWind is doing its thing so we have wind data!
Crazy new camera angle!

@Damon_c , after the 12 minute mark, when you are back to the marina, there is only black for almost an hour, maybe you want to edit that part out?

wonderfull. but may you tell me how you can see nav instrument on video? AWA AWS and boat speed. how can do you do this?

I’m recording the Bluetooth output of an OpenWind wireless sensor and then using this software goprotelemetryextractor.com/telemetry-overlay-gps-video-sensors to display the data on the video.

any thoughts on how your epropulsion motor is working?

It’s been good. It is great for what it’s great for which is getting in and out of the harbor and docking. The biggest strength of electric motor that nobody talks about is the fact that they can be run at much slower speeds than a gas motor which would stall at very low speeds, which is amazing for docking and maneuvering in tight spaces. It makes docking so easy.

I never really use the regen feature. My boat goes way too fast to leave the motor dragging in the water. It’s scary and noisy and chaotic and seems like it will just break.

@@damon_c I dry sail so docking is regularly the most challenging part of my day...that's one of the reasons I would consider an electric outboard as even when my gas outboard is running great it is still a back and forth of shifting it in and out of gear
