as a kid I had a 65 corsa 140 that had a bad flywheel it was so bad that it would break the nose cone on the starter my dad totaly rebuilt the engine thinking it was bad bearings. one of the members of the corvair club sugested replacing the flywheel after pulling the engine for the fith time which corrected the problem.

Wow. Way more to bolting a blywheel than I thought. Great and informative video. Favorite line: "You have SHARP drills?? Where do you get those?" I need to know the answer to that myself! (I also need Ray's machine shop)
If I was building a corvair with an automatic transmission, I would make a new flex plate. The outer bolt holes are too close to the edges of the plate. This part failed twice on my 66. The answer is more steel at that area. Check your overall clearance and make the plate as large as possible.
