Two things I hope come from this. First is a GT4 class program based around the C8 Z06. Secondly interest from more than just American customer teams. I would love to watch some C8GT3 running in european and asian sports car racing series. Imagine a customer team running one of these in the N24 or 24h Spa!!
Corvettes have been running in FIA WEC (World Endurance Championship) for several years. Even winning the championship for it's class in LMGTE last year. Races were in Portimão, Spa, Le Mans, Monza, Fuji, and Bahrain.
The GT3R does sound quite a bit better than the C8R, though sadly both sound a bit neutered compared to the road going Z06. Funnily enough, when the C8R was revved when it was first introduced at the space center with the regular C8, I remember it having that old school f1 v8 sound, like it was a different kind of American thunder, kinda sad that optimization around the regulations (restrictors and bop) killed that sound. On the plus side, it definitely looks better than the C8R. Hoping that it's just as successful as its predecessors and that many more will be in different GT3 series around the world.
All of these videos are great. It’s extremely impressive to see the level of detail and engineering that the teams bring to the sport. These are good times for racing.
Former C6, current C7 owner .... and loved Vettes since I was a lad. I'd like to see the documentation that tells me the "competition restrictions" that is added to each car. .... I'm not sure if "competition restrictions" is the correct term for the "handicaping" system ....? Cheers!

As an Aussie I hope someone brings a Z06 GT3.R to the Bathurst 12 Hour sometime. A lot of Aussie fans would love to see the Corvette's racing on our Mountain. We've had plenty of Camaro's and Mustang's there over the past 60 years, but Corvette's have been few and far between unfortunately.
I guess if you want to know what is the difference between a street Z06 and a Z06 GT3, you have to read and interpret the FIA GT3 Regs. Sounds like the body difference is significant. Would be interesting to know about the engine and transmission. 5.5 litres for sure is different, what else??
If the c8 racecar engine revved higher like the c8 z06 road car I feel more people would like it. The lt6r only revved to like 7500ish rpm while the street lt6 revved to 8600rpm
I just hope an EU team bites and changes to running this car in GT World Challenge Europe or IGTC. Ford already got Dinamic Motorsports, Aston got ComToYou racing and Team Walkenhorst so surely Corvette can find someone too for those series.
Wheres the offroad race truck? That sponsorship is a waste of American money. Dakar was the previous 2 weeks. Ok? The biggest government supported company in America. That pisses me off.
Looks like every other mid engine car. Corvette has joined the SUV market. Fill a lot, take off all identification, and they all look the same. Sad, really. Cars used to have style and individuality, now they’re all computer rendered based off algorithms and not eyeballs.

@@watilacosta3807 Não é história… É o regulamento kkk Procura “ BOP” Balance of performance. Todos carros na IMSA e WEC são impostos um BOP. É regra da categoria. Pra que todos carros tenham a mesma performance.
