Great video guys! I found your channels both last year and they have really helped me develop interest in sportscar racing!

1980 my dad was on a team at the 24 hours of Daytona. They had a strong 911 for the GTO class but the owner of the team kept trying to put Fuel injection on a car with a good carb set up. My dad said the car ran good on the level track but when it hit the high banks the FI did not have enough fuel pressure and the engine cut out. Scary is being up on the high banks of Daytona and your 911 starts to slide down that track. They missed qualifying by just a few seconds.

What people need to understand is that LMP3 was created to give racing experience to new drivers, especially gentlemen drivers, and teams with backgrounds in lower levels of racing the chance to expand into sports cars. The cars and teams were not intended to be running in races with far more experienced prototypes and GT teams and drivers. The LMP3 series races in IMSA were standalone sprints of 45 minutes with one driver and no pit stops. The cars mechanically were not built to run 24 hours. The only reason they were let into IMSA Weathertech events including the 24 was due to attrition among race teams before and during COVID. In 2021, IMSA was looking at very small ( almost embarrassing ) fields in its events in 2021 and inserting LMP3s was the solution for this. In the Weathertech races, and especially in the endurance events, the cars have shown major attrition rates. On the track they have been dangers to the other cars both due to a lack of engine power ( which is by design. Remember inexperienced and gentlemen drivers were its intended market) and inexperienced and sometimes outright slow drivers. IMSA has now reverted these cars back to its roots of short sprint races with the VP Racing Fuels series. But the experiment did provide benefits as teams such as Sean Creech and AWA got experience and their feet wet and now are moving up to LMP2 and GT3.

I hate that the TV broadcast almost only shows the GT prototype cars. They almost never show GTD or GTD Pro, it's really aggravating.

I know IMSA doesn’t but will there be any major endurance races in Texas ? I’d be very interested in going in person

losing P3 is a small price to get legitimate racing....single marque racing (P2 cough cough) doesn't belong without more chassis. GTP and GT will be epic!

Just a shame there isn't as much interest in GTP as there is in Hypercar over in the WEC, still steady growth is better than no growth right.

The Mustangs are bigger and heavier and the engines could be a lot faster to make up that disadvantage if the BOP by IMSA would let them, but it seems they like the smaller forced induction cars better so unless they let the Mustangs rip on the straights they won`t win anything this year.

Too bad it won't be on TV. Will be watching the 24 Hours of Dubai instead

It just sucks that while IMSA is finally becoming what I always wanted it to be, they slight all Canadians and make CTMP a sideshow. First time in 4 years I may not go to the event.

Yes those new Mustangs look amazing, but they are absolutely no replacements for the GT40. It’s a shame they killed the best touring car class in endurance racing. Both IMSA and the WEC will be much more boring without those (let’s call them GT2) cars. It’s everything GT3 these days and GT3 is by far the most boring and overused series. It killed so many racing series that it’s not worth watching much anymore, since there’s nothing unique to most classes anymore. Very very sad..
