No one has felt more pressure than the horn and rhythm sections that had to come in after that solo and close the song out without messing up the take.
Funny you say that, because Cory himself said this was not the take he would’ve chosen for the final cut if he was the producer. One of the greatest keys solos in recent memory wasn’t even the best take for those recording sessions to the artist himself lol
I'm pretty sure that's why the line around 3:00 makes Shaun Martin get up and walk away 😂 It immediately destroys anybody's attempts to discredit Cory and try to say "he's just playing random bs"
I freakin love the look Michael gives as the music stops down at the beginning. He knows exactly what's coming, but he gives this look of wonder and anticipation. He is quite possibly the best band mate hype man of all time.
Michael's energy is some of the most beautiful shit I've ever seen. The absolute chaos in his eyes when his band mates go crazy fills me with so much glee for the music and its process
Don’t even read music but I noticed this in my scrolling thing and damn never miss an opportunity to hear this dude’s solo. It’s incredible! Every time. Must be fun as shit being this amazing at something.
Proof that we can accomplish something that brings such joy, together!! Together!!! Almost everyone is represented in the room. And everybody's part is EQUALLY important.
How is nobody commenting that this transcription is wild And accurate and for the love that all that is jazz we appreciate your service to the art, kind sir
I"ve heard snarky puppy whole discography and as a whole I don't find their music, although impressive, catching my musical veins. Lingus is one of a few very good ones. But this moment here is something else. This is the very soul of music.
it sure helps! i understand the solo a lot better after reading it. it's not so horribly mysterious as i thought it was before reading the transcription...
It always triggers my mind that this Lingus solo is basically meant for Bowser. Playing Super Mario 64 and all the encounters felt like I was just hearing Cory in the background
Coming from an "Advanced" level pianist, this makes every piece I play seem beginner. To play even sixteenths and not get off time when they are phrased in odd patterns is just insane.
Cory is a fucking monster on keyboards. That was off the chain! 😂 Even the other guy on keyboard next to him was like “Get the fuck out of here” with his expressions! 😆
Super nice transcript that shows Cory Henry doesn't discover anything so new But Plays it in his OWN way, sound, etc Then without the very special drum/n/bass pushing his ass off, it wouldn't have happen It was a trio job
