Cory Henry, Mike League, & Nathaniel Townsley play Stevie Wonder's 'Creepin' Cory's album "Gotcha Now Doc" is available on itunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/gotc... & Amazon: www.amazon.com/Gotcha-Now-Doc/...
I swear, Michael League and Cory Henry have the sweetest relationship. Cory is going absolute godmode and looks at Michael like "Right??! Right??!" and Michael is reassuringly nodding like "Oh yeah, that's right." Warms my heart and they are both, or all three, incredible musicians
Nathaniel Townsley on the drums is no slouch! Got to sit in with both him and Cory at an open mic in NYC way back before Cory even joined Snarky. Easily every single member of that band that night are the baddest musicians on the planet! (no, I’m not including myself lol)
When historians, other civilizations, aliens… or what ever, look back on the human race, I hope moments like these and music like this is remembered instead of all the crap that is around today. This is the human spirit at it's finest! Keep making beautiful music.
Outstanding gentlemen. Blessings to you all. Thank you for an absolute lush cover. Mr Wonder would be very proud and happy to have heard this played by you lovely guys. 👍🫡🫡🫡
It warms my heart to see/hear young men (I'm 60!) playing this wonderful tune so beautifully. You've definitely got the natural feel and spirit for this genre. Stay together and keep making music.
I remember the night I first stumbled upon this video - it was such a breath of fresh air.. and then branching out via curiosity and YT algorihtms into Snarky Puppy, Bill Laurance, Thundercat, Nick Semrad, Knower, Bobby Sparks... aahhh... so glad to be around with all this amazing music :-)
The complicity of these guys, the understanding of what's going on at every moment is just fascinating! You can see how they are looking to each other constantly, how they enjoy the pleasure of listening to the others!! I love it!! And the motiv from 6:40 onwards is so natural!!
Cory Henry is a Force of Nature! A 9th Wonder of the this World and the Next Worlds beyond this Realm! Hail! And Witness the Other Worldly and Divine Power of God At Work! Millions of pianist and organists have been born into this world and died, however, a Keyboardist with the depths of communication, articulation and execution that Cory Henry brings to the stage, has never been born before this young man came on the scene! I pray that the world will finally take note of this young man and support his every effort. Believe it or not, I am not a religious person, but when I heard his concert at Millenium Park last Spring, I felt an eerie sense of something protective, hovering over that entire event! I had read years ago that both of his parents had passed away, and that he was raised by his grandmother. I don't know him, and have never met his parents, It was thier presence that I sensed hovering and protecting as I looked up toward the sky surrounding that Millenium Park Concert! Everybody! Support Corey Henry and his group The Funk Apostles! There is definitely a Divine Hand on his Life!
This brother is so smooth on the keyboards...watch out for him....he is going to blow you away in many ways.........keep on doing what you do great...Cory.....
Man I can listen to this all day! So happy this kind of music exists. This is sublime, sweet, heartfelt, grooves like hell and kicks very serious ass! Love the drummer, the bass player is great - but of course Cory Henry kills it on the sweet soulful Hammond organ - as he always does! Thanks for this guys!
This is a trio that I would pay to see. Great musicianship. Wow..... Mike is getting it done on the Greatest invention since the wheel. The esoteric Fender P Bass.
This is so good. It amazes me seeing the communication going on, especially between Mike and Cory. You just constantly see them throwing stuff at each other and the other responding and adding to it.
OMG.......I've got to start coming on RU-vid more...........Love B3's but this guy takes me to a whole different place.......And this was 2012...I'm living under a friggin ROCK plus it's one of my very favorite SW songs......EXCELLANT SUBSCRIBED 4 sure
I dig it!!! Who in the hell would thumbs down this though??? Out of all the covers of this tune that I've unpleased with, this one is so pleasing to the ears.
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Can't resist returning to this rendition, time and again. This is SERIOUS MUSICAL INTERPLAY: Stevie Wonder should be proud of this!!!
Wow, well that was fun! Its amazing watching you guys play together. The pure joy and love of your craft pours out of you in a most wonderfully animated way. It was almost like watching 3 kids who are also best friends, playing their favourite game, which Im guessing in some ways is the case! I think I have to watch it again!
Nat.. every comment ever posted on this site is summed up by what you just said.. this truly is the human spirit at its best. The Human brain at its capacity.
I've been watching your videos for most of this year. Missed the Snarky show in Philly bc by the time i found out about it it was sold out. Thanks for bringing real music back. Show these youngsters how create real music by putting in time, practice and sweat instead of sampling other people's art.
Incredible for me this discovery. These young performers with three instruments are geniuses to me. I come from blues, jazz, soul ... funk and I find everything in this music. In short, the music that makes me feel good and I like to listen. I have enjoyed a lot watching this video. Thanks for this music
I can watch this over and over. All three lay so nicely in the pocket. And keep doing you Mike, you got the coolest head bobbin and facial expression. It all makes me smile. :)
I was listening to Stevie's Creepin' in the background and then RU-vid served up your recording. I was enjoying it so much and wondered if it was some alternate recording Stevie had worked on without vocals, so high praise to all of your musicianship that for a moment you had me wondering if I was still listening to Stevie.
Tasty and tasteful. You reinvent one of my favorite songs while keeping the original's funk and romance. The bass guitar could be a bit louder, but it sounds awesome.
