Really enjoyed this Cpt Meaty! Cosmic horror tickles my neurons like nothing else. Books like Annihilation and Blindsight hit the spot for me, and the games you chose here are awesome examples. Sincere thanks for taking the time to write and make this ❤
Right? it's a specific kind of vibe that I just find super cool! I figured it was one of the better Halloween themed ideas I could have written about and I'm really glad you liked it! thanks for the kind words and support ❤️
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it! I was afraid it wouldn't be too good since I rushed to get it out in time for Halloween but I'm pretty happy with it too. Hope you're well also my friend!
I remember last 2021, I had a binge over the literature of H.P Lovecraft I bought books and watched movies. While reading “At The Mountains of Madness” a question popped into my head; which is better? Malevolence or indifference? To be chased and haunted by a creature that means to annihilate me or to be killed not by intention but treated as “collateral damage” then yeah it hit me. The true horror of cosmic horror is that these eldritch abominations don’t acknowledge our existence, our worth, and our place; like we’re merely specks of dust in an infinite sea of darkness. To answer my question I would rather choose malevolence for I am at least acknowledged and seen by my pursuer rather than a pursuer that is indifferent towards me. It all just feels lonely and livid, I can’t help but feel i am at the mercy of my own powerlessness in this endless black space. That’s horror.
100/10 comment thank you so much. Yeah I think that's one of the biggest things they can do to really make the reader or viewer *FEEL* the scale of these kinds of creatures. Us as a species with all our accomplishments and advancements pale in comparison to the horrors so much so they often don't even acknowledge us in these types of stories. I think it's just such a cool concept and is one of the main draws to these kinds of horror.
I love cosmic horror and as a bethesda fan was hoping there’d be more aspects of that in Starfield, it’s something that I love from the star wars legends too. I wish you well meaty 💜
Absolutely! Especially with all the Lovecraft nods in the Fallout series which I think are super cool you'd assume something about space would have that kind of stuff in it too. Thank you so much friend wishing you well too
Absolutely! As long as it's smooth, it can look fine but from what I've seen of others playing it, it tends to dip a lot which is sad. I myself prefer a steady 60. The game honestly deserves a remaster with how good it is.
