I play vidya games badly and ramble about various things that interest me in the form of video essays, game reviews, commentary based rants, and other video game related content.
Honestly having gone back and played Oblivion recently, the writing was on the wall back then sadly... FO3 was good, then Obsidian made FONV into one of the greatest games ever. Skyrim was pretty boring for an Elder Scrolls for me personally. But I had to just stop playing Oblivion cos it's really obvious how much stuff they just didn't finish. How many places have you found look like they should have a purpose but it's just 5 NPCs on empty houses all with the same dialogue options? They're everywhere. And the game is piss easy too. I guess that's just come with time as gamers have become better, but still it's basically a sandbox adventure with a tonne of missing pieces
Despite its flaws, 2D Pokemon was an era that just brought the whimsical nature of Pokemon, especially Gen 4 with Platinum & HGSS. And Gen 5? That was the best of the 2D era period and had this sensation of really understanding what the Pokemon world was all about with more of a stake in the game with Part 1 and more of the battling and exploration in Part 2. Something I wish Pokemon Company can let Game Freak do again with the 3D games, which I'm hopeful is happening with Legends ZA since Legends Arceus planted the foundation for it to happen.
Bethesda games have always sucked, yes all of them. They're poorly designed, poorly written, and after about 10 minutes you're always asking "wtf am I supposed to be doing to progress the game." The difference between then and no, no one was doing games like Bethesda. Now, there's just so many people that do it better that the only time a buy a Bethesda game is when they're practically paying you to download the game.
The Bethesda we knew is dead. Teams have changed, people have come and gone. Maybe the spiritual successor to Elder Scrolls II will do what Elder Scrolls VI wont. If you haven't heard its called Wayward Realms.
Games have not been good since they decided to turn them all into exploits for our wallets. Make good games, and the money will follow. That is exactly how we got here. IMO.
That's your mistake right there you tried playing a AAA game, developed by a board of empty suits with no love or interest in the industry. AA games, indy titles, and Japanese/Korea games are basically the only thing keeping the traditional spirit of the industry alive.
Bethesda hasn't made a truly great game since Morrowind. Oblivion was skinned-down in favor of cinematic benefit and the leveling system is so broken it's near-unplayable. Skyrim is so skinned-down it doesn't even resemble what came before. Fallout 3, 4 and 76 are competing for the worst writing in the Fallout franchise, and 3 has the objective worst gameplay for any main Fallout title.
Bethesdas engine isn’t the only outdated thing, the entire team is outdated. The gameplay is insanely boring, repetitive and stuck behind tons of load screens, quest are boring and tedious “go here 5-6 load screens to get to some place to pick up an object and fly back 5-6 load screens. Most time spent in the menus. Exploitation which is their bread and butter is dead. Combat is laughable I mean like early 2000s combat. They need a huge overhaul for ES6 or it’s going to suck.
NO JOKE. their games are funner to mod than play it. I spent days for creating the beautiful skyrim experience for me to only not experience it. By the time I was done modding it, I don't have the urge to play it.
they should have just made a star wars version instead of this nasa punk that we ended up with. also 1000 planets was a bad idea. also stealth combat was by far the worst I have ever played, dont know if its fixed know but at launch it was so stupid that just playing guns blazing was the only viable option on the hardest difficulty
"Eew, I paid 70 bucks for a burger from my favorite restaurant, and it's disgusting! This is disappointing, I used to love this pla-" "OMG KNOW WHAT ELSE IS SAD?!?!? PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE THE BURGER BUT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT IT INSTEAD OF EATING SOMEWHERE ELSE!"
Pfff, I just saw a preview for Skyblivion.... it's blows starfield out the water. Bethesda screw up was selling out to microsoft.... microsoft is bad, mmmm kay. Things microsoft touches go bad mmm kay just use windows 11... it's a guinea pigs wet dream....
I used to say that Bethesda's greatest strength as a developer was making interesting worlds that were fun to explore. With Starfield, they took their greatest strength and made an algorithm do it for them.
In over 2500 hours of Skyrim I only finished the main quest once. Just once. Usually I play an explorer who ..well, explores the world of skyrim. Not following the main quest or any quest at all. I love the beautiful skyrim map, the theme, the aurora borealis nights out in the tundra. I usually don't play any faction since I hate to be the leader at the end of it. Its stupid. So just give me a heavily modded skyrim game, a clean slate-argonian and let me do my thing. That what I like to do. And for that I will be grateful to Bethesda. But what they put out in the recent years... omg. Please no. I doubt I will ever buy a Bethesda game on release ever. I wait a year and look then what people say about it. Phew, I didnt buy starshit ..
Im the same, never finished the main story but just like exploring. also dont buy starfield its beyond bad. stealth is the worst of any bethesda title and well 1000 planets with nothing interesting was a terrible idea
I like how i'm legitimately happy to see someone call Starfield "mid" I personally don't think its a GOOD game but i found it pretty fun and i don't get why so many people think of it as the reincarnation of the devil himself, yknow?
Bethesda games are clickbait I swear. I remwmber when a whole bunch of bethesda games were added to game pass only for me to play half of them and be dissappointed.
Skyrim today is orders of magnitude better, in every single aspect, than anything Bethesda developed after it. And it's far from being their best game.
I can’t be the only one that couldn’t finish any of bathesdas games right ? I trued fallout new Vegas, fallout 3 and 4, Skyrim elder scrolls at least 3-4 hours each and just didn’t find the gameplay fun or the story interesting.
@@agreeable-youth don't get me wrong, FNV is fun, but it's not "flying 300 MPH around the map doing fireball bombing runs on unsuspecting Ashlanders" fun.
I was a huge fan playing Oblivion and Skyrim got me into Fallout New Vegas and 4. I was hyped for 76, but didn’t buy it at launch. After seeing how that went, i disnt buy it and I have yet to buy any other games than the ones I mentioned. Didn’t fall for Starfield, and won’t fall for ES6. All that to say, it really frustrates me that it will still make money even though it’s been a nose dive from there.
Game developers have gone too much for high-end graphics and forgotten about game-play. Game-play is what keeps a gamer gripped to playing through a game not 8K graphics. Bethesda has no good story tellers anymore, someone who can write a good script.
the stealth combat in starfield is really not good tho. melee sneak especially like i tried it at launch on the hardest difficulty but it was so bad that I just played run and gun. dont know if they changed or tweaked it but that was my biggest turn off from starfield
Yeah they seem to be stuck in 2008 to 2015 open world games. If it's not as polished and awe inspiring as Elden ring or breath of the wild then it's not going to impress anymore
Takahashi: Yugioh is a great game to show others what kind of things you like. Konami: BS ARCHETYPE BS ARCHETYPE BS ARCHETYPE BS ARCHETYPE BS ARCHETYPE Meta players: Konami owns us and our life savings 🤓🤓🤓🤓🥵
It's sad but true, as long as people continue to buy the next big $2000+ deck they're gonna keep at it. I still have fun with the game though I don't think I could ever dislike it
Look bethesda can suck but if you are not going to acknowledge doom/doom eternal i cant take you seriously. Sure it was half developed by id software but still.
I personally don’t find anything wrong with paid mods. It gives the creators that make the content a way to monetize what they love doing, mod making in Skyrim is more of an art form than anything now. I have nothing but respect for the content creators who make the creation club content.
I agree pixel-art is better, but I think Gen4 was peak specifically HGSS. Gen5 fell off a cliff and the series never recovered, the battle animations and overall blurriness were nauseating and the Pokemon are boring and uncreative, almost the entire roster is just flatout derivative of previous Pokemon made worse. I love almost every Pokemon in the first four generations like easily 90% plus of each roster, but starting with Gen5 I have only liked maybe 10% of each roster at best.
