That's a tough one, because it's correct in premise but really destructive in practice. Since crimes like that are taken very seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if they would get removed from sites the second it becomes well known, which means that they have no way to respond. There by, going against free speech. False Allegations would gain an infinite power, because they would have to way to disprove you. Why his claim its normal here in Germany is a lie: Age gaps like the one presented by Cosmo are unusual. Here you can do an "Ausbildung" which is working 3 days per week while attempting 2 days at business school for the theoretical stuff. Most people beginn at 16 and end with 19/20. Basically his situation would be someone who finishes business school and has three years of workplace experience dating someone who has at least one year of public schooling ahead of them. Now tell me of that sounds icky or not....

The younger one has over a year before their biggest problem will be final exams, while the older party already has a way better time management by having to manage flip flopping school and work and had their own salary for years. The older party in the situation took way more responsibilities in life and has much more experience. This gap isn't seen as normal here. The younger one doesn't need any resources or such, because they have no responsibility at their age

From what my friends and family have told me, consent laws there are complex, but in general, the age of consent on Germany is only 14 if both people involved are under 18. Not that it matters that much, seeing how the victim lived in America, but it does mean that not only is cosmos reasoning fundamentally flawed, but he used and keeps using omissions of the truth to manipulate his audience into believing that what he did was maybe not right, but acceptable. As a German, I can say that even if the victim was in the age of consent, that would make no difference and it still would be illegal because cosmo is 19. It is stated that only a person under the age of 18 could date a 14-year-old. If there are older, for example, 19, they would need to wait until the victim is 16. and would be 21 which is still a very dangerous grey zone and can get you arrested.
As someone who was an underage victim to a grown man online in a cartoon related space, I’m still affected by what I went through to this day. I really hope his victim is able to go through some healing and find some level of peace. When I first heard about this situation, it was on Cosmodore’s community tab. He claimed that he was seeking therapy and that he donated all the money he had made from YT to a charity to stop child groomers. It seemed that he was making an effort to be a better person. It was also the fact that I didn’t know how bad he had treated her as he hid a lot of the information. It’s sad, seeing that he hasn’t actually changed at all.
As a person living in Europe I can say with confidence that a person turning 14 is still considered a minor in terms of law. The only real thing that may change is, that they can find a job (But not extreme ones and only with a total amount of hours per week) with consent of their parents or other parental figure and be liable for crimes... Like when you're 13 or younger, your parents will be the one punished for crimes you did (Stealing, property damage, etc) but once you're 14 you're the one who becomes liable for these things. But even then are usually punishments used for minors, in the hope to "push you" into the right direction (Like instead of directly going to jail, have you do social work for X hours). So tl;dr: 14 year olds are still minors but with a bit more responsability and being able to get punished by law.

Man, I feel so awful for the victim. I have never been in a situation like this, but hearing that she feels awful every time she sees Cosmodore's avatar, I do understand that feeling, that horrible anxiety. I wish I could help because I don't want anyone else to feel that, I really hope she gets the support she deserves. On the other hand, I am all for forgiving people, for seeing the best in them and trying to support them so they start going through a better path, but the abuser, cosmodore, he doesn't deserve my care and support, he has show that he doesn't see what he did wrong, he's only responding to the anger of the people, not trying to improve because he saw his mistake by himself. He's no trying to listen to what people have to say without regurgitating an excuse. He has no intentions to improve, he doesn't feel any remorse and only cares that the backlash gave him dislikes. Not only do I care for the well-being of the victim more than this thick-witted abuser, this loser genuinely believes he did nothing wrong and is merely trying to stop the dislikes on his videos. *So, Cosmodore, if you're reading this; No, society doesn't wish to see people fall and never recover from their previous mistakes, I am an example of someone that would see the best in people, but you don't deserve our support, you haven't shown that you care to improve, you haven't shown remorse for your crimes, you have only downplayed your actions for sympathy. You are not trying to improve, and therefore, we are not going to support you. So with a lot of love, from someone that never swears, go fuck yourself.*

But seriously though I get what you’re saying and I think it’s horrible that people like Cosmodore can commit such a heinous act and get away with it with little to no back lash on his half for what he has done. I also think that his lack of remorse that was shown in his “apology” video ( or the equivalent of it anyway ) shows what a prick this … well I don’t want call him a man because what he has done makes me physically and mentally unable to do so, let’s just call him an it. As I was saying his attempts at downplaying and dismissing the situation as whole truly shows what horrendous and cowardly welp it really is! I haven’t watch any of his videos not even the aforementioned apology video, and after hearing about this thing and it’s actions I am glad that I hadn’t in the first and probably never will. I’m sorry for the long reply I just wanted to go off myself, because in a tragedy like this the response more than merits a paragraph or two as a response!
Ok, I know I'm a year late, but I need to say it's so Goddamn refreshing knowing I'm not the only one who GENUINELY wishes there was a way we all could help this person I just want to ask them how they're doing and tell them everything will be okay...
