Yes the quality is potato - I was to lazy to grab better camera. Some points that I gathered from applying both Fluid Film and Cosmoline. I am not endorsed by either of the companies.

You better use liquid other than spray can, then dilute it using mineral spirit, then you can brush it or use your own spray bottle to have better control, otherwise it will get everywhere.

Watch the solvents in the fluid film won’t wash away the cosmoline your using as a base coat, my experience is cosmoline is far superior than anything on the market and your English is fine.🇨🇦 thanks for the video

Cosmoline is a lanolin based priduct, which is a by-product of sheep's wool, so it will smell a bit sour. That's why it sticks so well, its an oil/fat. I don't live in the snow belt any more, but the coastal air is full of moisture that condenses at night, so I coat all of my drive train and chassis w/ Cosmoline - something my father taught me, way back in the 60s, when he did Ziebart under-coatings.

@@mikev7661 You have a few options. Daubert Nox-Rust X-121B is the black GM frame wax in an aerosol touch up can. If it’s gone beyond a few touchups, RP-342 heavy cosmoline is an option. Comes in black or amber. I use a combination of both. The black to touch up just the frame and then the amber to go over everything. Reason I prefer the amber over everything is so you can see the color differences in parts like bolts, cables, etc. I also use CRC heavy duty corrosion inhibitor. It’s a lighter spraying cosmoline. Less dripping. Requires a second coat. It’s a smaller can but it’s cheaper to use. Only comes in amber. If I was in the rust belt, and I only had a few exposed spots on the frame, I would use the Daubert to touch it up. Then I would buy a case of the CRC off Amazon and do everything underneath. Try to avoid the connectors. But if you do get it on the connectors, no worries. It comes off with oil

I spray gunned Cosmoline Black (Rust Veto 344) on my 2000 LX470 and followed it up with rattle cans of Blaster Corrosion Stop. The black dries to a hard plastic like texture and the Corrosion Stop is an oily like spray that appears wet all the time. It will be a year this November

I have been using fluid film for several years now. Its works great, it creeps into any places you miss. It also works as a good parts lubricant for hinges, door handles, latches ect. I use it on winch cables and ratchet straps too. It will wash off high spray areas like wheel wells and the bottom of axles, but it seems like it still has a layer you can't see that it still protecting the metal. I apply every year, but after the first year it's much easier because there will still be fluid film all over the place under there.

I did, waited until Cosmo was dried, than coated everything with Fluid Film. There is a debate would fluid film disolve the Cosmoline and nullify the idea - time would tell. I guess you could spray almost anything on top of Cosmoline, it dries up fairly well but I am not sure would it "hold" the rubberized coating (Cosmo is kinda greasy even when dry)
@manofsan
@manofsan 2 года назад
 @Montana West Photography Studio - ok, fair enough - but I've heard people can put Cosmoline on top of WD-40, and that's because WD-40 is thinner and gets into all the fine cracks, etc, and then Cosmoline can go on top to provide a thicker and more robust coating/barrier. Do you agree with doing that?
