I like trying different cleansers, serums and moisturizers, but this is the one product I never skip or leave out. I'm 56 years old and have been using it for around 3 years. I've had several people ask what I use because I have very few wrinkles. They're usually grossed out when I tell them 🤣 But this is the best thing I've found for my aging but oily skin.
I have a very oily T-zone even though I'm over 50. I waited SOOO long to try this product because "snail" seemed icky. After I tried & loved several other Cosrx products, I got the mini of this. It is INCREDIBLY soothing & softening, more so than anything else I've tried.
I call this amazing serum my serotonin for the skin. I definitely use this to heal/soothe as I’ve increased my tret strength, it’s wonderful! A bottle lasts me over a year, and for at least the last 2 years has been 50% off during Ulta’s January sale. I enjoyed the bee/honey CosRX serums, but was very happy to return to this once the minis were used up. Holy grail!
Ok that’s the PERFECT description lol!! Yeah, I have skipped on cosrx’s serums for that reason exactly. However, I will say that the propolis honey overnight mask is another tremendous hit for me!
@@ymc4573 I don’t use them in the same routine… at night I do tret (alternate nights w tret and acids), oil, moisturizer and then in the morning I use C, CosRx 96, moisturizer then sunscreen. Hope this helps?
I love it!! At first I wasn’t wowed when I used it as a serum but now that I’m using it just after shower when the skin is damp… it’s surprising how it moisturizes my skin! That’s another use for the ones that don’t like that tacky feeling… I’m on my fifth bottle. Thanks for another amazing video, Alice!!!
I use the Cosrx essence every day. I am 47, and I have received many compliments that my skin looks like glass or a doll. I don’t know if it is all from this product, but I am not going to stop using it. It certainly helps when I have damaged my moisture barrier. I have picked it up during the Ulta sale.
This is like the one thing I ALWAYS remember to put on every day! It's very viscous and spreads easily. I love it because I hate anything that feels heavy or sticky (like, HATE!). But this is so light on my face ... and I love to tell people snail secretion is my secret beauty ingredient.
I use the 92% cream version since I prefer a thicker consistency and it doubles as an eye cream for me too, not much difference from the essence. Sometimes I even apply a little amount of it on papercuts or popped pimple and they heal overnight! Amazing stuff, snail mucin. Lab Muffin Beauty Science loves it too 🐌
Pretty lady I have been using this for almost 6 years & am never without it. On the nights I use trentoin I put it after & I don’t get any flacking. I am with you - my favorite product & I even enjoy the sliminess of it.👍🥰
I read that snail mucin contains copper peptides as well yay. The cosrx snail cream is my fav product, it's perfect for buffering my tretinoin as it's not too occlusive and very healing.
Been using it for years too! I use it am and pm every day, it goes on after serum/liquid texture products and before moisturizer. No trouble on my oily skin from it either.. I swear it also helps sunburn heal quicker when the occasional one happens.
I don’t doubt that at all - one of the studies I found specifically looked at snail mucus on burn wounds, and yep, it healed faster! Incredible stuff, I’ll never be without it!!
I feel like this soaks in so well after 30 seconds that I never actually worried about putting actives under it, but I'll have to give that a try for effectiveness. Kind of random sub-question on that, but I overthought the issue since I tend to use encapsulated retinol immediately after the snail essence in my night routine. Do you think encapsulation of an active impacts the suggested order of layering products? I know they say the encapsulation tends to act as a time release, so I could see order mattering far less as long as an occlusive layer was placed over the active. Also I agree with you on what makes the product valuable. I don't feel the essence is moisturizing in any way despite being tacky, and I wouldn't classify it as typical hydration, but it seems to improve overall skin health in a healing fashion. I know I said I don't classify it as typically hydrating, but the correction is almost like the difference between dehydrated skin and regular skin or correcting the feeling you get with a very minor sunburn. I often feel like actives can tax the skin or skin barrier and this helps gently mitigate those effects without having any substantial impact of its own.
I’d say to give it a try! Most of why I’m so convinced on actives first is my own experience; add to that seeing multiple comments in agreement. It feels like a consensus that layering in this order gives a slight edge! But on that note, I also think there is a bit more of a spectrum of effectiveness with these conversations. I see a lot of “x cancels out y” type of mentality with skincare. Usually there is much more of a gradient with effectiveness (good example: the well-known buffering of retinoids). And goodness yes, it’s absolutely wonderful with retinoids (or other actives). I think, in short, it’s an excellent restorative and anti-inflammatory product 😃
I tried this product because of you and man, it makes SUCH a difference on my skin. I think I'm literally still on the first bottle of it even though it's been a year. It's finally getting a little low but it's INSANE how long it lasts for me. Lately, my skin care routine staples have been Hanskin Bubblepop cleanser, Beauty of Josean's Bubble Toner, and Cosrx snail essence. Occasionally, there's additions depending on time of month or just sudden concerns, but those three as my 'core' have just given me much better control of my acne. Other products may come and go but I'm not sure I'm ever willing to lose those - particularly the latter two.
Ohhh those are two favorites!! I feel like they’re very potent products in a non-irritating way. It’s kind of rare as potent typically means “15% AHA!”, whereas these are ..hmm..sensitive-skin-potent? I might have to try the hanskin given your other favs 🤔
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I’m using their Propolis toner though. After I bought it I looked up what exactly Propolis is. That is kind of nasty too but I’m dealing 🤣
In France we are raised eating snails 🐌 🤣 so I do not have this feeling. And honey is even worst than propolis since it is flower sugar digested by the bees and that is why it is full of active enzymes that have anti bacterial properties.
I have very difficult skin same as you dry & prone to acne, so I’m always using different products on my skin care, trying to deal with my acne and dry skin, & I love how wonderful works with any products, so I can used at night or during the day, I came across this product because of your recommendation & I have really enjoyed, thank you, you are truly a gift.
Ah so happy to hear!! And what’s very nice about this product is that even 4 years later, it gives me the same results. You know how some products seem great in the beginning, but over time seem underwhelming? This is not that story lol. Happy to hear you’re enjoying it! 🥰
I loved this video, thank you gorgeous! I have 4 pumps of the snail96 every night after I use my essence, essentially as an “essence topper“. I have combo acne prome skin, and combining this with green tea, mugwort, ginseng- it works wonders, my inflammation is barely there :) I love the texture and the way it sinks in. Been loving all of your videos 🥰
I do that often too - in fact just this AM, I did the primera essence followed by this. Such a hydrating combo! And yep, those are some of the best ingredients 😍
I tried the line in the travel size kit. I find the essence is very necessary during lady time, when my skin won't act right for my usual routine. So I kind of only use it a few days a month. But I really fell in love with the cleanser. It takes off makeup so good. And the clean, not stripped, no residue feeling is amazing.
I’ve also spotted it online at Marshall’s/TJ Maxx for less than Ulta/Korean site prices 😎. As someone who has a snail phobia, I find it interesting that this doesn’t make me squeamish at all. It’s just such a different thing coming from a plastic bottle in my clean snail-free bathroom cabinet. 🤔😆 Hugs, Alice 💞
Oh I would be squealing if I found it at TJ Maxx! 😱😱 so true, i feel like it’s easier to imagine it as a slimy product vs a snail product. Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend! ☺️
As someone with oily skin, I love the Cosrx product. Actually love the consistency and skins in quickly for me with no tackiness. I use 2 pumps am and pm. The size is amazing. Definitely going to be a staple in my routine.
Tried this recently after overuse of retinals and aha/bha acids made my skin look blah. moisturizers and HA serums weren’t helping. I Just borrowed some of daughters mucin essence and after a day my skin looks happier and dewy again. Will be adding this to my routine. Tempted to try other of their products but will hold off for now. A lil goes a long way so just going to decant a bit from daughters stash!
This product is a game changer. I’ve only been using it on my VERY oily skin (but not acne prone at all), but it’s given my skin and incredible glow. It’s also pretty much stopped the dryness I get from my Tret, so that’s been incredible. I could not live without this product now.
I love the Cosrx snail mucin. When I first started using it, I did find it a bit difficult to move past the "this is snail snot!" thing. I still get a bit of a yucky feeling if I get it on my lips. However, I just find it so hydrating. When I first got it, I rubbed it on the back of my hand and my skin looked so good, so quickly! I was sold. I would love your guidance on how to use it with Tretinoin. I do get dry patches when I use Tretinoin. I can only really use it a couple of times a week. What I do now is to make sure that the morning after I use snail mucin and plenty of moisturiser, and I do that every morning and night between my Tretinoin use. Is there a more effective way to use snail mucin to alleviate the Tretinoin effects do you think?
Keep in mind that I do not personally use tret, but I’ve read a lot from people who do - and specifically WRT snail mucin, I know some use this essence to buffer their tret!
I almost mentioned that one! I do like it, and it IS less slimy. But I went through it quickly and I feel I get more from cosrx. Not a bad option, I just prefer this!
Love this product, have been using it for about 4 years as well. BTW recent studies have found out that the happier the snail the more mucus it will produce, so that does answer the question of cruelty free products. cool vid :) xoxo's from Israel's longest performing drag queen, Diva D
You’re not the only one! I suspect it’s that shellfish/dust mite crossover. Those are somewhat more common allergies, so I actually suspect it’s a fairly good amount of people who share your allergy!
Except for me! 🙄 literally the only ingredient 🐌 I’ve had a reaction to. And I take it so personally lol. I hope you and your other half are having a nice 4th weekend! I am SO grateful I made a yesstyle and Sephora order before my surgery because breaking from actives this week (on meds that cause some sensitivity issues) and focusing more on those Korean soothing products has boosted my mood/recovery. I also picked up the Sephora sulwashoo trial sizes of their ginseng products which I’m looking forward to trying. Cos rx spray toner is being used in excess lol. I’ve already used half the bottle 🥴. Do you think the haru haru black rice toner is too thick for spray bottle? 🤔
Oooooh the Sulwhasoo products 😍😍 I get excited about the mention of those haha! That was a good plan - you can rest and your skin can rest (it’s nice, I got a sampling of that experience when I did my Versed trial) Hope your recovery is moving along well, and thanks! Will be a nice restful weekend for us 🥰
I was just trying to remember if I’ve tried that and funny enough, I don’t think I have. Even though I’m over here having gone through multiples of the essence lol!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole There is very little difference between the two. 92% versus 96% snail mucin. The cream has a few emollients and dimethicone. It is a great lightweight moisturizer that can be used by all skin types.
Mine is arriving tomorrow. ❤️ I'm using tretinoin for a year and 4 months now. I just need something that is soothing, hydrating and calming besides a regular moisturizer. Most reviews I find here really loves it. I hope it works well for me too. Thank you for the review. 🎉🥳❤️
I agree this stuff is awesome, I used it years ago and liked it, kinda forgot about it and heard you and No BS beauty talk about it and grabbed it again. I'm about half way through the bottle and this is great for my dry skin, I use it like a serum too I can't imagine using this like a toner
Happened to stumble on your channel. Great review!I've heard great stuff about this product, but the package indicated that it cannot be used on irritated/sensitive & inflammatory skin. So I've hold back on trying it. Would like to clarify could one with rosacea or very sensitive skin problems apply this product? If so, how should this product be incorporated in the skin routine?
I’d always recommend checking with your doctor first regarding questions like that, largely because I suspect brands slap that on products as a “just in case” 💕
It burns my skin for some reason. But I use the eye cream everyday and have used the cream with no problems. Skincare man it's like gambling lol you spend money and hope it pays off. Lol
You definitely could! But know that you’re adding a buffer between the retinol and your skin, which will lessen the impact (and also the risk for irritation)
I haven't ever experienced paying customs. I know a few years ago, the limit was $400. I think it's even higher now? My I'm from order was around $120, and the most I've spent in one go via yesstyle - no customs. Hope that helps!
I use a 5% glycolic acid/ 5% benzoyl peroxide serum that has a cream consistency after my snail mucin. Should I be using the snail mucin after my glycolic acid due to the ph?
Actually let me give you another option just in case that is a thicker texture than the snail: wait a few minutes BEFORE you apply the glycolic/bpo so your skin has time to adjust
I would say the cream might be a better option for normal-oily skin as it feels surprisingly lightweight, but can act as a serum/moisturizer combo. The essence actually feels more hydrating, and pairs nicely with a moisturizer for normal-dry skin types. Both could be used together, but I find I prefer the essence and a different moisturizer. Hope that helps!
Have you tried the iUnki black snail serum? Curious because I purchased it from yesstyle and haven't used it yet, just wondering if it even comes close to this one
Yep! I got it in PR a while back and then ended up repurchasing. It’s a fantastic option for anyone who finds the cosrx too slimy! However, if the sliminess doesn’t bother you, I do think the cosrx is more healing. I think that boils down to the amount of snail mucin used in each - it’s simply more in the cosrx
I’d say it depends on whether you were instructed to buffer the tret or not. If not, snail essence after tret. This will, of course, be the stronger route!
Hey I applied snp peptaronic serum first and then cosrx essence and then vit c in am routine. My whole face is full of small bumps, where had I gone wrong
Oh no! Have you used the cosrx before or was this the first time? It is possible to have an allergy to snail mucin and there’s cross-reactivity with dust mite allergy 😭
Yeah this is the first time. Also using snp peptaronic serum before the essence. Don't know where I hv gone wrong.bumps, comedons are not ready to go away
Great question! The reason I haven’t delved into more of cosrx’s snail products is that I do believe we only need to focus on an ingredient individually. In general, I’ve found that buying the entirety of a line based off one concept does less for me than having variety. BUT I do love some other cosrx products. I’d say my other favorite is the propolis overnight mask. It, too, is a restorative product, but with different ingredients ☺️
@@AliceintheRabbitHole thank you for the prompt reply. Will definitely try that after i finish my FAB moisturizer which i found it too thick for my skin and my country weather.
UPS just delivered my three bottles from Ulta’s 21 Days Of Beauty sale! My daughter was visiting, so I gave her a bottle (she told me she has used snail mucin before--she’s really into Korean beauty). I can’t wait to get dinner over with so I can use this in my skin care routine! 🐌 Thank you for always recommending this product. I admit, the ick factor shied me away from it for quite awhile, but if it works as well as you and others say, I’ll probably want to bathe in a tub of it!
I haven’t tried it! I think I talked myself out of it because I imagined I would just default back to the essence. BUT you never know until you try a product 🤷♀️
@@AliceintheRabbitHole omg u really should its super nice I've tried both and they are both amazing but I almost enjoy the cream even more purely for its texture and way it makes my skin feel immediately after. It's a tough call they are both soo good
I just strarted using the 92% all in one cream, about a week ago? I think I love it but of course it's early. I use it at night--adapalene or olay retinol serum (I alternate), then a soothing serum, the snail cream, then a rich moisturizer. I also have dry acne-prone skin (but also 50 years old and fairly sun damaged), and I have just gone through a phase of veering from one extreme to the next trying to prevent breakouts and drying out. So I've been trying to focus more on my skin barrier.
That sounds like an excellent night routine to me! And yeah, i think our skin type means we have to dedicate extra time to the aspect of repair. It’s a bit more challenging (no question about that!), but you covered the bases I would: retinoids, soothing, protection!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Well, your channel has been a big help in helping me find products that are maybe better than the ones I started with (or as good but less expensive). So thank you! It really makes a difference when you watch someone with your skin type.
