I understand bio digester technology has been in Ghana for years in Obuasi. Apparently, the British brought that tech to Obuasi when they started gold mining there. There are quite a number of specialists there.
Was the bio digester you looked into the aerated type that breaks down the waste more quickly and you can filter through the third or fourth stage and use that water for irritating the land/crops and car washing and toilet flushing again. 🚨In my opinion Biodiagester Is the way to go. Clean, easy, fast, use less space !!. Although the biodiagester is new, the man hole has its own headaches !
I agree with you 100% We decided to go for Septic Tank - because the people did not seem very competent to install the biodigester. In Ghana many people tell you they can do it, but cannot always provide evidence of previous work. We didn't want our house to be their first experiment. if you see what I mean. @@kingstal90 I just came across your channel on my feed. Question: Why didn't you research and find other companies beyond the companies you saw who are competent with installing biodigesters, if indeed it was your number one choice? I am sure there are other companies in Ghana that are qualified in the installation of biodigesters.
The hotel business is not very profitable in GH by the rooms (except for maybe to top 1%). Its mostly the pool, restaurant, gym and expenses by visitors. I know this because my previous start-up was into hotel accommodation. These days I believe one could make more with a unique take on restaurant or some form of attraction/park.
Hello Are you planning to drink the water from the bore hole because you didn't say anything about your drinking . The septic water might seep into the well water according to your illustrations. Water from your borehole is probably best for drinking with proper filtering.
The day I started having second thoughts about biodigesters is when my landlord said we couldn't use any chemicals to clean the WC after use. I mean, haaaaawwww🤷🏽♂️
@@kingstal90 Thank you very much. My mom and I are thinking about either getting a septic tank or biodigester in Ghana. My mom is more for the septic tank (she keeps referring it as manhole and it confuses me all the time). I am leaning more onto the biodigester but well, we will see where Yahuah leads us. Hi Asher & Gad, thanks for your excellent homework, on the pros and cons about Biodigesters. I am a UK citizen with Biodigester startup in the Ivory Coast, next door to Ghana. I recently delivered a project for a family in a similar case as yours. They constructed the septic tank but when they became aware of our Biodigesters, they asked us to install it at the inlet zone so that their initial septic tank becomes a reservoir of water full of nitrogen for gardening or for future family agricultural projects. I paid them a visit after returning recently from the UK to supervise my business. They are extremely happy with their decision. I hope this testimonial helps if you still have a bit more budget to reconsider your sewage circuit and call another local Biodigester contractor back. Very educational video once again. Please how far should the septic tank and soakaway be from the main building if there is water in the ground. Also if the septic tank is too close to the building, could this cause problems as to the water socking into the foundation where by weakness the building?. Please kindly advise
Not sure of the rule of thumb exactly. But our septic tank is far from the house - about 15m away (50ft) and about 90-100ft away from our borehole pump
Hello you two. I know this is a older video but I do want to ask if the methane gas is allowed time to build up to practical use, this could still prove feasible. And I saw another option Chrystal with the window burgular bars set on the inside instead of outside keeping with outside building esthetics as you voiced in that video. There is so much to consider when building a house from scratch. Every detail need to be weighed for both feasibility and long-term maintenance. Thanks for the update about your Ghana experiences.
Thnk you guys for the wonderful wrk , I’ve a question and my question is I thought with the soakaway they fill the pit with heavy rocks and don’t even put a concrete work on it but rather cover it with some form of roofing sheets or does it mean they no longer practice that procedure? What’s your take on this sir ,
No it doesn't Watch the part of the video where I explain that the soakaway drains to very deep into the soil. The borehole collect water from deep below. In our case about 90FT (27m), it then goes through a filtration and R.O plant to remove salt and any impurities before using. You only use Borehole water for irrigation as its full of nitrogen which is good for plants and for flushing your toilets mainly

@@sweetbadd9852 - That is personal choice and it also depends on the area. In our area the water is very salty so we would never drink it. That is why we are installing a filtration system and a reverse osmosis (R.O) plant to remove the salt. People even drink water that is dirty sometimes, which is very unfortunate and normally linked to poverty and difficult circumstances. In my opinion best not to drink, unless maybe you distil it first. Its down to your personal preferences. Hope that helps

I find the channel very different from other "homebuilding in ghana" channels where you basically learn nothing new and get the feeling you've been click-baited after watching. @ Emmanuel Quayle. I like the detailed information as it give viewers an informative view on systems and concepts. I've planning my holiday/ retirement hone now and a lot of what Asher says I know a bit about but am also learning additional bits and pieces that I didn't know or consider. It's a breath of fresh air from the content many channels spew out where you don't really learn anything.
