Great breakdown. I was budgeting around 80k baht a month. So glad to see I’m close to your budget. Your food is a bit higher but you have a live in GF. I also added personal care (haircuts , laundry , etc) about 1500 baht a month. Overall though one of the most realistic budgets for sure. Great content. Keep it coming

I think it depends on your lifestyle and what you are looking for. For myself I could live on less then $1000 USD per month and still have a comfortable life. When I stayed in Bangkok for a month I spent closer to $175-$200 for eating out and grocery shopping. Transportation was relatively inexpensive as well. Regardless when you factor in rent and food costs (eating out) you can save substantially more.
@iPaulLee
@iPaulLee Год назад
Definitely. There are much cheaper places to rent and food mentioned in this video

Very realistic budget. The $3000 ball park figure gives you a good life in most areas of the world, except in the English speaking countries. Have lived in Costa Rica, Portugal, Bali, Namibia, and my budget was roughly similar to yours. However, when I was living in Bangkok, my expenses were bordering $5300 because of women and weekends in Pattaya. Now that I’m in Chiang mai the cost has fallen down to $2800. It would have been this much if I didn’t have motorcycles.
@iPaulLee
@iPaulLee Год назад
i agree. chiangmai and hua hin and the other provinces are definitely much more cheaper. cost of women and weekends can definitely add up!

Hi Paul thank you for the content 👍 Chris- I'm curious, after living in PP Cambodia, what would you say are some of the deal breakers that makes Thailand more desirable? From what I've gathered, medical facilities in Cambodia are few and far between in the big cities and almost non existent outside of them. Everything aside, I feel like access to healthcare should be priority for anyone. I really hope the best for Cambodia especially after what they went through but we have to be realistic about life there. I visited Battambang in 2007 and the people were very kind and hospitable though despite me getting ripped off by the taxi service at the Poipet border.

If anyone has never been to Thailand or similar countries you can live a very normal life without Bars , Hookers , etc. and the main thing about budgeting is you can live on very little but what about problems , insurance ,and emergencies. I live in almost any country on 6-800 USD a month not counting the inevitable complications.

I just starting like your youtube channel and of course, I subscribe and enjoy to watch it. I plan to move to Pattaya next year probably in April and can I ask how is the living expense in Sept 2023. Is the inflation keep going up or it's slowing down?. I plan to my budget only around 1500 - 1700 on a Monthly basis and I don't know it's enough. Just leave a normal life style and I don't drink and party a lot. I just prefer to leave close to the beach and hopefully the rent is not so crazy like in California. Have a good time in Thailand and good luck.

Looks like a realistic cost breakdown and seems cheap (compared to the US) but the one piece of information missing here is the income. If you get to keep your US income, it's cheap but if you have a local income, this lifestyle would be unsustainable. According to Glassdoor, even a software engineer there makes on average less than 100K Baht/$2,700 per month (before taxes). That would require a much more frugal lifestyle. Or am I missing something?

I have worked a budget on my end for Pattaya Beach which will begin in February. This is for one year. I have budgeted at $1800 a month living in Pattaya. I added additional trips (excluding Bali and Hawaii to meet family part way) for 60 days $3,700 USD and add $30 a day which is my average at Pattaya. Technically, $1,800 added and will total of $5,500 on getaways. My Scottsdale, Arizona 4 bedroom home that I will let go, I anticipate to net $48K on a one year furnished lease with a pool. $2k round trip in flights to Arizona to Thailand. The costs would run for $29K and add Bali at $1,500, and Hawaii $3K around $4,500, $33.5K total. Not bad, eh?
