This video is about the cost of living in Brazil in 2023. We live in the south of Brazil and in this video I will share with you our monthly living expenses to give you a feel for how much it costs to live in Brazil. Obviously the cost of living will depend on a number of factors and this video is just an example.

That’s great. I’ve seen tons of videos about this gorgeous Country, Brazil and it is all great to live, but I believe the best place to live is in the MAJIC ISLAND OF FLORIANOPOLIS. It’s heaven there for me as a retiree.

Hi, great videos enjoyed watching each one especially the info about the south of Brasil. I am British and have been living in Brasil for 18 years and love it, I must point out something to you which has happened to me and could happen again and affect anyone who relies on a income from outside of Brasil. When I first came to Brasil the exchange rate was just a little over 5 to 1 against the British Pound and this stayed that way for about 3 to 4 years, not long after that the Real currency started to strengthen and in a very short space of time the exchange went as low as 2.6 to 1 and eventually settled at around 3 to 1 all of a sudden I had to exchange almost double the amount of money to get the same amount, the Brasilian Real is weak at the moment but it wont stay that way for forever, I think this is something for people to take into consideration.

Nice sharing. This is mainly why I don't live in America. I have double citizenship, but truth of the matter is in Brazil services are cheap, such as house cleaning services, restaurant services, etc. If you end up living in a good neighborhood, public security is fine, especially if you get to live in a closed condominium.

It's really cool that you convert the values to US dollars so that people outside of Brazil can get a sense of how much cost to live here. I would only add that it looks cheaper in dollars because of currency conversion. Note that you spend more than 10k reais and the minimum wage in Brazil is (right now) R$ 1.320. Sure, everyone that comes to live here is probabily planning to earn way more, but it's good to know about that. Final observation: I am shocked about how low is the rent price in the south of Brazil if you compare to Rio and São Paulo, even to Brazilian standards. Maybe it's time to move.

I am am expat living in Santo Antônio Do Pinhal, been here for 10 years. Just subsiding how many pets you have, my pet food costs over R$400 for a bag of cat food and R$500 for dog food I have 7 cats and 2 dogs. Health insurance goes up as you get older we spend $R 1700 a month just on that. We own our home so that's nothing but maintenance is always a problem, trying to find good workers is hard. Food is getting more expensive for sure so it's fuel. Our water is free we have a well. Car payment for the Jeep is expensive of course, electric about R$300 a month. I think our biggest exspenses is did for us and the animals. The caseiro is R$350 and the fachina R$480. Internet is R$199 and cell about R$260 for 2 no landline and Sky tv R$280 I believe we live on about $3000 US. I'm from NY so it's allot cheaper here. Living in a tourist designated area it's a bit more expensive in town if you know where we live in the Mantequira.I do love it though, for a retired person it's great.

Thank you for sharing these monthly costs. We are also considering a move from the UK to Brasil. You may have already discussed in another vlog which town you live in for context. We are looking at somewhere located on the Santa Catarina coast e.g. Floripa and wondered how far inland you may be and how the costs may differ? Naturally, the real estate costs can differ on location substancially but was wondering how the other item costs you covered in the vlog may differ on the coast, or perhaps they wouldn't significantly. Thanks again, and I look forward to watching your content.

Hi, the cost of living will be highest in the big cities, especially the big cities on the coast such as Floripa, Balneário Camboriú. The cost of living will be lower in the smaller cities/towns, especially away from the coast. I will do more video shortly on Santa Catarina.

Thank you for the useful feedback. I am researching property taxes and trying to understand IBTU. I understand this is based on the valor venal. As a homeowner in Brasil are you please able to confirm of this was higher, lower or equal to the market value? Is this recalculated annually i.e. the tax is likely to increase each year. Lastly, what was the % for your municipality. I understand IBTU is 1% for Sao Paulo, Rio and Floripa. Many thanks in advance.

Yes its expensive there, services, real state and restaurants, but not so much. Real state in good places in Floripa is near of 200k US(great difference) and its apartaments with condo costs about 200 dolars per month. Another issue is the people who wants to help but just a little speaks english. Good restaurants in Floripa is kind 20-25 dolars each person

Hello, I'm Brazilian, I found your channel, I saw that it's starting here on RU-vid, your channel has everything to grow!! One more tip, try to make the videos more dynamic, that draw more attention to your videos, so you will have more clicks and your videos will be delivered to more people. I can help you with that by editing your videos, creating covers, banners for your channel, if you are interested.

I agree, I’m in New York City and I’m having a hard time wrapping around my head he’s paying like $27 a month going out to restaurants three times a week three while I would pay about $50-$60 each time for a family of four at a sit down restaurant, and nothing too fancy neither 😮😮😮

@@nordicinvestor yeah but 3000 dollars rent in São Paulo is a big luxurious apartment or a huge house even a rooftop apartment with hot tub in the most affluent areas. It still much cheaper if you compare real states with similar standards.

@@nordicinvestor I live in Sao Paulo Brazil. My rent for a small "in-law" flat is about USA$200 a month. But of course there are condos and flats in this city for much higher up to thousands a month. Sao Paulo is a huge city actually larger by geography and population than NYC USA so many variables.

I live in an apartment on the beach in the north eastern region of Brazil, with my wife. We pay less than 1500 a month for everything! Not only on rent but also, energy, gas, net. Groceries, eating out 3 to 5 times a week. Taking trips once a month to beach towns. Even twice a month. Trips to other states even, every few months. We work around 60 hours a month. Her 30 myself 30, A MONTH. Brazil is a lot cheaper, even with inflation going nuts. On average we save the equivalent of $1000 a month, sometimes less sometimes more, if we’re real frugal or don’t do much during the month, we can save up to 1500 or 2000 even. And we don’t have jobs that pay us in dollars or euros, we work in Brazil. We’re fortunate to make a good living here, I’m very grateful, but I feel like anyone is capable of doing it.
