The presenter is selling something. So what he says needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I own a home in Cheyenne. What's really happening is that lots of disgruntled people are moving to Cheyenne from other states. Thus, the value of my home has gone up 50% in 5 years. That means my taxes have gone up 50% in five years. The state legislature considered what to do for retirees who lived in their houses for many years, and now cannot afford to live in them any more. So far the legislature has sat on its hands. Feel like paying thousands of dollars a year in property taxes? Move to Cheyenne!

Thank you so much for these insights. Although you are correct in that I run a successful mortgage business in town that is not the purpose of this video. It is intended to give a realistic view of the state of affairs as of the time it was released. That being said I do wonder if you have observed these types of increases in values and taxes elsewhere. I know our neighbors to the south just went through the same thing this year in May and I feel like this has been occurring across the country.

What about luxury independent senior apartments anywhere in Wyoming? I need no assistance or food provided for me. Just apartments for 55+ that are luxurious. I mention this because I make an income that does not give me a break on rent. I do not qualify for subsidized housing. Thanks!!

I don’t know of too many options that are specific to 55+. There are several paired home communities that are top notch and lower maintenance that you could explore. As far as specifically 55+ I know that this link will take you to a community of rentals that are well appointed. www.liveatthecreek.com/the-villas-at-cottonwood-creek I hope that helps!

The amount of home you get in Wyoming vs. say Illinois is stark. A 450k home in Illinois will come with a basement and it's easy to find it on few acers will actually be a very nice home. Wyoming is much higher for less home so to me it just seems when they say homes are more affordible in Wyoming, they are speaking to Californians, not midwesterners.

Hi, my husband and I may be moving to Cheyenne, could you tell me if it is necessary to have 4WD for cars? Also do you know of any good apartments/areas to live ? We want to buy but it'll probably be best to rent for a little while at first. Thanks1
@wynotwyoming6659
@wynotwyoming6659 2 года назад
Here in Cheyenne I do not think it is necessary to have 4WD. My wife and I have one SUV with 4WD and one sedan without. We have not needed to put the 4WD to use yet. That being said, if you will be commuting south into Colorado you may want it a few times of year. That stretch gets pretty good snow every so often. For apartment living I might suggest that you check out the is Facebook group; Cheyenne Community Connection But also reach out to me before you move and let’s see if we can get you into home ownership so you’re paying your mortgage instead of your landlords mortgage.

That being said I took my family hiking yesterday 20 minutes outside of town and the weather was perfect. 73 and sunny. No wind to speak of. Weather is all relative I suppose. As far as jobs go, I have made tons of friends here in Cheyenne that have great jobs. And there are hiring signs up all around town so maybe it just depends on the type of work a person is looking for? I’m not sure if you have a specific healthcare need but in general I have found that it is easy to get a primary doctor and appointments are readily available.
