Great summary I am planning to retire in KL in 8 years time and planning to have a 1 bedroom apartment in the KLCC area. I have been to KL 5 times and loved it - my favourite city that I have visited. It is not only just the cost but I love the people and culture. Plus it will definitely suit me since I am a Muslim guy born and bred in the UK and I have a great rapport with Malaysians in general
Yes KL would be an excellent place to retire. Unfortunately Malaysia recently made changes to their popular MM2H visa which brought many retirees from the UK to Malaysia in recent years. These new changes make it much more difficult to retire in Malaysia. I will make a video about this in the future. The good thing for you is that a lot can change in 8 years and I wouldn't be surprised if they improve this programme in the future once they realize the new measures are pretty unreasonable.
@@ExpatWell Thanks for letting me know. Yes I am aware of these changes sadly but like you said I still have another 8 years and things can change - I am keeping an eye in future developments regarding people wanting to retire in Malaysia from the Uk like myself
For a retiree I spend RM 1400. 00 on groceries for two persons If I eat out then it would be RM 40.00 per day. For one person, RM 2400 for 2 persons for a month. I survive on RM 3000.00 per month as a couple with intermittent outside meals.
Really excellent work, thank you. Comprehensive, succinct and I especially love the comparison to other major cities in the world. As someone who lived in NYC for 15 years, I think your estimate is very reasonable. Thank you again and I look forward to more content from you.
Great video friend you are spot on about the cost of living in KL missing KL and looking forward to making KL my home soon ❤️ from Australia keep safe and well friend
Would you please make a video of how to retire in Malaysia I’m 33 years old right now and I want to start for my retirement in Malaysia any tips or tricks you know through your journey of life what invest what to do anything you can possibly know how a person can stop working and retire and live in Malaysia they will be super helpful thank you oh I have to say I want to retire within a year or two just like how should I go about my savings and investing to be able to retire as soon as possible but in realistic terms and time frames thanks
Retiring in Malaysia is easy. It all depends on if you want to own or rent or the type of visa you want. You can retire in Malaysia on a tourist visa. You will have to do two exit trips per year. You can also apply for My Second Home, however the stipulations require a large cash deposit in the bank. I recommend you rent for the first year before you decide to participate on My Second Home.
@@Vivo-qh9is it depends on the country you are from. As an American, we get a 90 days visa on arrival. After that, we can extend it for 60 days then we must exit for at least 1 full day. According to that, we would need to exit twice per year. AirAsia makes those exits easy with low cost tickets across Asia. But, you are right. Some countries only get a 30 day visa on arrival. ✌🏿
@@UhuruFrontier that's so cool ! from where i come unfortunately theres 30 days and max of a week extension in case we got issues with going back or whatever
All the rich people come to Malaysia 🇲🇾, but we are quite Conservative especially in the rural area, we are a Muslim country soo you are going to listen the Azan "Calling Prayer" 5 times a day everyday
Definitely, this is for people who have money or at least a very high salary. I'm considering to apply to teach Spanish there, but my conection told me that I can make like 8,000 MYR a month, then I think it is too expensive for a regular guy like me. 😂😂😂
Excellent video. But I did not find the video you recommend, which is “Why you move to Malaysia?”. Would you help me with this? I wish to watch it. Thanks
60K USD you own your place outright in Malaysia its a no Brainer. Question about the education is there any free education there like we have in the USA .
I haven't actually spent any time in Tawau but looking at property listings you should be able to find a decent 3 bedroom place for between 1200-1500 MYR or 280-350 usd per month. You can check mudah.my for specific listings
Rent condo + h2o + electricity.. own condo or apartment.. maintained service....car or moto bicycle petrol personal expense.. medical bill also food ect? How can 2K + enough. 2 k rent if furnished....working place near. Imagine....Tq
I think it could be a good option. Only downside I can think of is that it takes a while to get to KLCC by public transport although by car/taxi it is quite good. So if commuting isn't a concern it is definitely worth consideration. Like I mentioned in the video in KL it is very easy to "test" a neighborhood or apartment complex by booking an airbnb for a few nights and then seeing what you like and don't like first hand.
@@ExpatWell thanks for your reply, appear of Bukit Jalil, where do you think is a good area to live? You talked about Month Kiara and Damansara? What about Cheras?
To the local Malaysian the cost of living esp in Kuala Lumpur ( the capital ) is very high cost, because our salary is not that much. To foreigners from rich countries they find it cheap. $1 US equal RM 4 to RM 4.20, that's alot. With US$ 200 k can get a nice condo. Want high class expat apartment roughly from US$ 300 k onward.
I do talk fast but it is actually done intentionally because the youtube algorithm punishes your content when it is slow paced. So if I slow it down too much youtube stops promoting it and therfore less people will end up seeing it. You can change the playback speed to 75% in the playback settings if you prefer to have it go slower. I try to manually update my subtitles so that people can follow along with the subtitles as well during the video.
ISKL is the main international school in the city. Gardens International School and Mont Kiara International School are popular options for those living in Mont Kiara. Although these three schools are the most expensive ones in KL. The French School LFKL is also a good option in terms of value for money but your kids will be taught in both English and French which could be an advantage or disadvantage for you depending on your personal circumstances. Another good option could be GEMS International School - Tropicana Metropark which is also good value for money. These are just a couple of the main schools you also have more local oriented schools which are good as well like Baseerah International School or Marifah International School (MIS). Hope that helps.
I didn't remove the video it will be published sometime in August. Once a youtube video is uploaded you can't add callouts to other videos that are relevant and haven't been published yet. Once it is published I will add the correct link. I am actually publishing another Malaysia focused video next week which might be of interest if you are considering moving there.
Yes you can but they will charge you though not as much as private hospitals. For Malaysians usually Rm1 for consultations and medicine and Rm 5 to see a specialist. For senior citizens it's totally free.
You are right. You can still get a nice apartment/house in a "local" neighborhood for much cheaper but since many of my viewers are given a housing allowance by their employer when they relocate to Malaysia I focused mainly on the price of condominiums/bungalows in areas like KLCC, Ampang and Mont Kiara.
cheap comes with other things as well depending on where you live. security & ease of access to necessities is worth the price. i live in a cheap area i know how it feels like lol. you can live in cheap areas, but basic security is a must.
Heeeeeeyyyy slow down. Your content is fascinating but you speak way too fast for human understanding, it’s not professional. Tweak that and your chanel will grow. All the best
