This is a video on Cost of Living in Pakistan based on 1 year experience after relocating from UK to Pakistan. I share a breakdown of categories and how much monthly expenditure to expect against each category. I also share insights on electricity and gas bills we experienced during the year together with a breakdown of expenses as a percentage of total expenditure.

I have also moved from London to Islamabad. The grocery graph and takeaway graph can almost be halved. I would say grocery can be sufficient at Rs. 25,000 pm and takeaway at Rs. 10,000 pm. Rent can come down by not living in Bahria Town (places like Media Town are just as good and cheaper at approx Rs 30,000 pm. Some other costs can also come down and that's from personal experience. Ofcourse, we all have our own lifestyle. If anyone needs more help feel free to get in touch.

Thanks a lot for you support and appreciation. Actually my moto is to stay genuine and only put content when it makes sense...I am happy that my viewers/subscribers are all genuine and interact with me regularly giving feedback and asking questions :) . I am happy so far in Pakistan Allah ka shukar...at times like you said I do wish that Pakistan also had some good things like UK ..but then when I recall the way life was in the UK I feel like the loneliness will still outweigh the pleasures if I was to return....I would still advise you to stay until naturalization if possible and then you can think about coming back too if it suits you

Ngl, your transparency is unique. It’s crazy to see how expensive it is and then looking at normal salaries in Pakistan and you wonder how people actually manage. Salam Hassan, Its quite good and informative. Couldn't you save water bill by using water filter installed at home and electric/gas bills by using solar panels. Secondly, by using android box, you can save your monthly tv cable expense as well. stay blessed
@hassanrafique
@hassanrafique 2 года назад
Thanks a lot for your support and feedback. Yes but thus far we have only used filter water in preparing food. Many people though use it for drinking purposes. Tv cable is actually very cheap (Rs 500 per month)...but in the long term android box will be cheaper.
@pme6713
@pme6713 2 года назад
what i have observed from your videos is that you have a modest lifestyle, neither lavish nor cheap...but your expenses still seem to be on the higher side. even if you cut down on some of the unnecessary expenses such as food takeaways etc., your monthly expense would still be around 200,000 rupees which is still very high
@hassanrafique
@hassanrafique 2 года назад
Very good observation. Rent and Schooling are fixed costs mounting to almost 1 lac. Then grocery and electricity are the next big items. Electricity wise my office ac needs to be on in the summer so that pushes up the bill plus electricity in Bahria is expensive when compared with say other areas. Grocery wise one can also optimize by choosing cheaper alternatives where ever possible...remains to be seen how much overall would this alternative route cost per month..

@@hassanrafique I left country for Oman in 2014, and then moved to UK in Nov 2020. I have not seen any growth in Pak since then, cities are now completely destroyed, extremely dirty. For last 2 days I dont have any water in house, 8 hours load-shedding, people's behaviour is so arrogant and insulting. Whatever you buy, there is no guarantee or warranty, even if you claim companies dont listen. Car prices are unbelievable. There is not a single parameter which is positive. I'm assuming other families in your area would also be in the same expense range (more or less depending on the family size). This kind of living expense is hard to bear because of low salary structure unless you are on a managerial position, i.e. bank manager etc...what do you think? do mostly peoople from overseas live in you society? what do most of the residents in your society do for living. i.e. job, business etc?
@hassanrafique

I haven't asked around much but many are house owners or in the Army getting rental subsidy...there was one overseas who relocated and I believe they have some business setup. I think if you are a single earner and doing a job here then as you said you should be around managerial level. Otherwise multiple earners in a joint family system is also the norm in Pakistan

Walaikumasalam, If someone lives in rental then according to zameen.com the monthly rent there for a 10 marla house is 20-30k. Grocery/electric and gas I would imagine would be around 50k. Petrol depends on usage but let's assume Rs5000 per month Public schools are cheap but not fee...< Rs1000 per child ....so in total around 1 lac looks like the ball park.
