Thank you for posting your videos. I am starting a small winery on my premises. Your video helped me to get approved with TTB. Now I am waiting for approval from the State and local. This has been a nervous and exciting adventure.

Another good place to get fermentation vessel’s, I cruise garage sales and flee markets for carboys and home brew equipment, I know they are limited gallonage but starting off it’s a good cheap way to get going. Plus starting out, if you screw up a batch it’s not as big of a loss. Also a good way to experiment before committing to a large run.

Yeah we still use smaller tanks all the time for that reason

Man thank God me and my wife were wanting to start a Vineyard here and I'm not rich I run heavy equipment you know and my mother-in-law passed away and we're going to inherit a little bit of money so we're going to buy some of the farm back and I was thinking of your long-term you or something for a family business thank you for making it as simple as you did cuz I've been here all day long on Valentine's 2020 trying to figure this out and I keep jumping from link to link to link to link thank you for making it easy

am looking for information that summarizes the annual labor/work/task schedule for a small /homestead winery. ie: a short list or summary of what is generally done each. month of the year and a general idea/ball bark how many people may be required for those tasks/timeframes. Can you direct me where to look? or have you a video that covers this? thanks!

I have done some of this and will be working on some more still in the coming months. I have done a small cow herd breakdown, and how much to plant a vineyard and our winery start up cost. I will be doing a vineyard cost analysis in the near future along with other winery processes. Check out this play list to get you started ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MKVYdTK7dm4.html

I did about 120 cases with three varietals, I finished them all two ways dry and semi sweet.

yes. it is a lot more approachable then some places would leave you to believe. There are things I have to rent out and stop gaps, but you don't need a million dollar endowment. This venture has been one of the most rewarding I have done.

My friend great stuff. I need guidance on Fruit wine making. Are the equipment the same? I want to start on a small scale, to be able to produce about 500 bottle per months. What do I need to start? Need guidance on where to source correct equipment including chemicals. This is for a developing country withy lots of fruits available, and this will be started from a home. Thanks.
@tempecreekwine
@tempecreekwine 3 года назад
500 bottles is 100 gallons. You will need about 4 or 5 tanks of that size or bigger. Keep 1 tanks empty to rack. Keep the others full. The minimum you need for chemicals is metabisulfite to keep wine fresh.

If you are trying to sell, i would recommend applying for your federal permit. If you are just trying to make more wine. I would recommend getting tanks with spouts on them. I have videos to help with permits if you are in the USA

We have a couple acres within the city limits near Portland Oregon and considering some farming as in a vineyard and small winery do you know much about tax breaks and USDA bonuses such as Barn grants or anything like that?
@tempecreekwine
@tempecreekwine 2 года назад
Typical tax break we get are ag exemptions, so tax free purchases. Also, you get to deduct your investment as losses from the business profits. Until its balances out, but you do have to show a profit at some point.
@AndrewDeLong
@AndrewDeLong 3 года назад
Now...to translate the costs you mentioned into NY state costs.... Until I can confirm otherwise, I'll just assume a 50% markup on all associated permit costs 😂

I have a question. I would love to open up my wine business, but I do not have a business address. Can I use my home/residential address? I don't plan to make my own wine at home, but to contract a winery/vineyard to produce my wine and label it with my approved label. Is this allowed in Texas where I reside? Or do I have to have a business address to have an online company separate from residential to even apply for Federal, State and Local permits? Thanks for your video, it was extremely helpful.
@tempecreekwine
@tempecreekwine 2 года назад
Yeah, you are going to need a separate residential and business. Becuase of of liquor laws you cant have certian things in your bonded area. You can cut your property boundary wise, but they will have to be separate.

What about if I just grow grapes and sell them to someone else that makes the wine? That's what I am going to try and get info on?
@tempecreekwine

You wont make any money. Estimate are about 10 acres to turn a profit on just grape gowing. It would be fine to exchange graoes for finished wine and save money by not buying any alcohol. I have a video on vineyard costs check it out.

Hi. Mod from /r/winemaking and /r/viticulture here. Moderating a sub doesn’t take much time at all once you have your basic rules and a mod team in place. For low traffic subs, a single person can easily moderate. The real challenge, like any platform, is in growing the audience.
