I'm from Costa Rica. The way Ostional works is that they monitor the number of turtles. In Ostional there are so many eggs and turtles that everytime a new turtle comes to lay out it digs and destroys the previous turtles nest, killing the eggs and producing contamination. So they actually let the people pick the first turtles nests eggs that would anyway get destruyed. The community in change clean the beaches and protects the baby turtles.
Special Fact, The Bribri Land The most valued thing for the Bribri is the land where they grow food. They are a matriarchy, women are the head of the family. They inherit the land, and they have control over private property. Women are so important for their culture that they are the only ones allowed to prepare the sacred drink.

Bit sad to see this couple enjoying simple life with nature with their 2 kids and yet the father put dangerous chemicals (insects repellent ?) on his baby daughter that will end up in her very vulnerable blood stream.....unbelievable....
