@@billotron5521 yes that haha not really know how to spell, if a restaurant or stall have the picture of it then 9 time out of 10 I will order it. But I'd buy the whole chicken in a heartbeat if it's same price.
I used to buy 2 rotisserie chickens every week. That was my meat and I would plan the rest of the groceries around that. I really like chicken and precooked helps a lot for meal prep time. Breakfast was either instant oatmeal or eggs - sometimes breakfast burritos. Sometimes I would add some pork. I don't eat much beef. Sometimes I had chicken left over. My grocery bill was much cheaper than most of my other single senior neighbors but I really ate healthy!
Cooking a whole chicken yourself is so much better. You can typically get it for $8 or sometimes on sale. Season it yourself and I guaranteed it’s better than rotisserie that has minimal spices etc
@@johnr797 a chicken that can be mass cooked easily is naturally cheaper, labor costs and other various fees aside from just a markup makes fast food items more expensive.
@@IAmOOFy No, they raise their own chicken to mitigate the costs. But they still sell the chickens at a loss (they don't price them high enough that it 100% pays for the expenses of raising, processing, cooking, etc.)
@@MgsSpielerHonestly it really depends on the batch, I have a scale and sometimes the Sam’s chicken is larger and sometimes Costco is because the birds vary in size a bit. All depends which one you pick on from the counter.
Just a tip: I think it's best to compare different parts of the chicken. The legs and wings are almost always good, but sometimes the chicken breast can be dry and tasteless.
Costcos in either direction are about 2 hours+ away from me while Sam's Club is about a 15-20 minute drive away from me. If Costco was closer, I would go since I hear about it way more often.
@@EthanHylandSam's taste better. I have easy access to both. Each has their own pluses. You cannot buy 1 gallon of milk at Costco. My car likes Costco gas better.
I know costco tends to be on the pink side especially the parts near the bones, I never got sick but it makes me nervous. Not sure if that's normal but yeah I might try cooking it more
you need to do this one more time because at my local costco they have bags now instead on containers and it has tasted better than before so pls try one more time
Depends on the location. Sam’s by me has chickens that barely fit the container sometimes. They all vary in size. Also the color is just dependent on how long they leave it in. Basically, they’re the exact same aside from preference of seasoning.
Ok, ok, ok.... As a former employee of Sam's Club, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. The seasoning used on Sam's Club rotisserie chicken is....... Lawry's Season Salt. That's it. If you happen to see their Lemon Pepper rotisserie chicken, which happens every now and then it's Lawry's Lemon Pepper seasoning.
As an avid Costco member who loves the $5 hit and ready chickens….. which is a staple when we go there. We just joined Sammie’s and the 4’th time we went they actually had them. The flavor goes deep. But theirs no juice in the bottom like Costcos. And the the juice isn’t there. But. It did have a fantastic flavor and smell. So. Still admirable. But. I would choose Costco - not as ghetto as Sammies.
You can get big chickens at Sam’s too. Just depends on the size when we get them. We get cases of 10 and skewer them 4 to a skewer and one oven holds 8 skewers.
theyre the same thing except Costco's are bigger. i think they use the same exact seasoning tho which is basically nothing. honestly, i used to hate these cuz i had them so much but after eating them with blue cheese dressing it takes them to another level.
I always loved chicken from sams club/Walmart (we don’t have a costco close to where we live) it was always something my parents got to make a struggle meal mayo and chicken sandwich bc it was really cheap. Like $11 to feed the whole house (5 for the chicken and 5 for bread or drinks if we didn’t have it.) For such a cheap price both are w’s and honestly think both are tied. Sure you get slightly more with Costco but for a one cent difference I don’t really see the huge gap and don’t think it’s that big of a difference for barely anymore more food.
This price in either store will never change. Ive had both and theyre identicle. Like the Hot dog meals, theyre whats called a "loss leader" Offer an unbielievably cheap price and get them in the store. Youre in either store for the chicken and you end up spending at least $150.00 Cheap chicken = huge profit
Lemme give a more detailed review. I frequently have eaten both for over 10+ years. I prefer costcos. Many times the breast in sams club is dried out while the one from costco is juicier. Also the smell, the one from costco smells less gamey than the one from sams club. I know a lot of ppl don’t care as chicken isn’t very gamey at all, but it makes a difference. I also use the bones for stock, you can really tell with the smells when you cook down the bones, the ones from costco doesn’t give off much of that chicken smell which is much better in my opinion. They are both great and I’ll always pick up at least one whenever I go but hands down overall, costcos is better.
Honestly it really depends on the batch, I have a scale and sometimes the Sam’s chicken is larger and sometimes Costco is because the birds vary in size a bit. All depends which one you pick on from the counter. The flavor and juiciness also vary a bit too.
Idk about Costco but after working at a large supermarket chain, making those chickens, and witnessing their food safety procedures....pass forever lol.
They both dont make money off of selling these chickens. They actually lose money but it brings in customers and members which brings in a lot of sales of other items.
I would say that the chickens I get at my Walmart supercenter are better than the chickens that I get at my local Hannaford or Market Basket. They're actually all different than the ones that you can get it Sam's.
I agree with you, I've tried rotisserie chicken from a lot of these stores but the Walmart supercenter chicken is my favorite. They got the best flavors like lemon pepper and are always super juicy and tender.
Value wise sams is cheaper to have a membership and in long run better in every aspect because every store has same items in same placing very cookie cutter and for parties and restaurants it’s in the same place vs Costco has a business store
I ate half the costco chicken while sitting in my car and screamed when i saw my friend staring at me as she was walking in. Yelled "IT'S BLACK HISTORY MONTH YOURE RACIST IF YOU JUDGE ME FOR EATING CHICKEN" lmao
Most things I like Costco better but at least with my local Costco and Sams Club I like Sams chickens better. My Costco either over cooks them or under cooks them and the size isn't really an issue, some are large and some small, at both, you just need to hunt for the big ones. Not sure if this is in my head but I get a slight chemical taste from the Costco ones. Very slight, like some bites I think I taste it and then the next bite I swear I can't.
Sam's club chicken is better because the people that work there are lazy and they never have enough chicken ready. And if you're lucky enough that you see chicken there, there's a good chance it just came out of the oven. I always find that chicken to be more tender when they have it.
The last chicken that I bought at Costco was browned on the outside and bloody raw on the inside throughout, my daughter in law also bought one at the same time, hers was also bloody raw on the inside, and I’m sure we weren’t the only two people to get raw chickens. I’d post my saved pictures of it if there was a way. I think there were two many placed on the skewer side by side, and I think they should be placed breast to tail on the skewers which would give the main body of the chicken to have more exposure to the heat source.
