I am late! but if you're interested these are the roses I have: -dannahue (I bought it potted last summer and it's yellow/ apricot and smells divine) -desdemona (they sent this to me accidentally last summer, and let me keep it yay and it's white) -royal jubilee (that's the one that's blooming at the moment, it's pink! and I bought it potted last summer) -rambling rosie (that's the one on the obelisk and it's red - I got it from the garden centre last spring for a celebration that I can't remember - it's doubled in size since I got it) -bring me sunshine (it's orange! and I got it as a bare root in Nov and it has lots of good growth) -the country parson (the yellow one out the front, it's doing the best so maybe they like morning sun? idk but I'm not moving them all! I got it bare root in Nov and now it's huge!) now my emails suggest I also have the lark ascending (which is peach and pretty) and the olivia rose austin (which is pink and pretty) but I'm only counting seven roses so idk where the eighth is... and there are no buds right now so it could be either?! I'll update when the colours show! I might have bought one for a friend's birthday or I have a rose hidden under my dead rananculus!

Great to see a garden/flower video! Unfortunately all bulbs are the same - they need to absorb energy in their leaves after flowering in order to store that energy for the following year, it’s not just daffodils. There are a lot of myths about this on RU-vid, but is basic plant biology. Leave all bulb leaves to naturally die off then cut them down to the ground.

Hiya, JB! 🥰🌱❤️ You and Jess are always so cute together! Let Jess know she looked fab in that dress, by the way. 🥰 Loved seeing all the flowers! 😍 Can’t wait till they’re all in full bloom! I understand how Jess feels about her Foxgloves, because I feel the same about mine. Grew mine from seed over winter last year, so to see them all super lush and blooming is a real treat. 🥰❤️

The answer to the eyesore of dying daffodil leaves is to place them next to plants that will grow up to hide them.
@JBNat
@JBNat 4 месяца назад
Yes absolutely! Do you have any good suggestions Sue? We were trying to think of what might be nice to grow around them. Last year we sowed/scattered a lot of seed around hoping that things would overwinter but not much came up.
@suemowat222
@suemowat222 4 месяца назад
The best things I've found for this are plants like astilbes and the taller-growing hardy geraniums, both of which put on a lot of leaf at the time when the daffs are dying and are very easy to grow. You would need plants rather than seed but they split easily and are the kind of thing that people are glad to give away surplus divisions of. I also grow daffs in my patch of autmn-fruiting raspberries, which produces the same result, but that wouldn't apply in your situation. I've never found that scattering seed direct on soil actually works. It's better to dig up and bring on any self-sown plants found while weeding, or sow the seeds in modules. I hope you find this helpful.

The mystery wild flower is Sweet Rocket, flowers look a bit like Honesty but has pointy leaves not rounded. The foxgloves look amazing. Love the hedge woundwort as well, I have it in my woodland border, just love the way it weaves itself through and around other plants.

Ranunculus can be tricky, mine all got hit by fungus gnats, then aphids and died as soon as I potted them on ! So it is lovely to see flowers on yours . The garden is looking lovely…
@JBNat
@JBNat 4 месяца назад
We had both aphids and fungus gnats on them too actually, that could have been a factor. We were lucky we had so many that a few of them made it!

The Ranunculus are beautiful I’ve bought the corms over the last 3 years so I have many! I do know that ranunculus stop flowering if the temp are over 20 plus degrees these are spring flower so may be pop in the shaded part of the garden, then they will still produce flowers, once the flower dies cut to the bottom and another one will hopefully grow for you 😊

Could be wrong, Jess, but that pinkish purple flower you said was ranunculus looks like echinacea to me. Your garden is looking lovely!

The garden has really come on and is looking lovely . Those foxgloves, so worth the wait for them to pop. The plant by the Oxeye daisies (the little purple one) may well be Honesty, from your seed mis possibly. It is other great one for the pollinators, the seeds heads are so pretty too and great for dried flower arrangements. It will self seeds too. I think Ranunculus are related to buttercups which is probably why the Creeping buttercup looks very similar. I have lots of that in my garden but keep it in check because it can become a nuisance. I have a big patch in my woodland wild fernery area and just let it do its thing.

- I afraid to say it but that oxalis weed will take over if left. every year in my garden I think I've got rid of it but no it always pops up somewhere, I've now reluctantly resorted to weed killer for it. - the pink and the white plants are both dianthus although the leaves are a little different Your garden is looking lovely and is really taking off

Your Ranunculus looks stressed, possibly left to dry out and too much sun. Most varieties require moist soil and partial shade.
@JBNat
@JBNat 4 месяца назад
Very interesting! Definitely possible they dried out at one point. They've generally had a lot of shade though as our conservatory is full shade until around 12 noon.
