Loved your video, definitely underrated. I am living in Vancouver and thinking the same thing. I thought you mentioned somewhere you wanted to buy in Sunshine Coast but what made you to go Okanagan?
Hey, thank you so much & great question! :) When we started looking at buying on the Sunshine coast it was pre-pandemic/ or early 2020 and everything was very affordable. We both work in tech and at the time we could work from home when most other people couldn't. So we had an advantage of being able to work remote & buy in an area that was farther away. Unfortunately, when we started looking we hadn't quite saved enough to buy yet. Fast forward a few months when we had enough to finally start making offers the market exploded and the price of houses were up $100-$150K . Also there was a massive surge of demand and houses were having insane bidding wars with some offers $200K over asking price. We actually made an offer on a place on Pender Island, and we offered $70K over asking price and still didn't get the house. So essentially, because of the housing boom, we got priced out of the market. Ultimately, I'm happy it worked out the way it did because I love the cabin we ended up buying (despite the many natural disasters we've experienced in our 6 month run as home owners). lol But long story long, i hope that answers your question! :)

But I think you made a good choise to have one in Okanagan which seems to have a lot to offer with different lifestyle from Van. I am looking forward to seeing more contents from your channel! I live in the valley and We're looking at cottages/cabins anywhere in BC. what websites did you use. I can't seem to find any good ones when searching. Or do you do a close search instead of a broad one?
I've been thinking about that 👀 I think Alex would, but I've lived out there before (I stayed in vernon for 4 months before moving to Vancouver and really liked it). But I think it might get lonely without friends. I'm sure we would have a lot of visitors though. But I'm a pretty social person, I usually hang out with people 4 nights/ week, so I dunno what I would do with all of that extra time! :P If we were to move outside the city I think it would be somewhere a bit closer. I remeber you telling me you guys were planning to move to kelowna though?! if you do you'll have to come visit, the cabin is only a short drive away! 😊
