A homeless person is better prepared in a society that has abundance. But when food becomes scarece, they are the first to die. An example is during COVID lockdowns the restaurants closed and food pantries shut down. Many homeless people suffered greatly during that time.
I disagree, but I really don't want to get all the hate-filled responses so I'll just say "no" I don't think homeless people as a whole are going to fare better in a widespread emergency scenario.
What do you do when the food runs out? Having been homeless, mine never runs out. I can identify dozens of edible plants and mushrooms, and I can track animals and fish. Honestly, most of the preppers I have met are little more than weekend warriors in the woods. They work, and they buy stuff waiting for...anything. Consumable supplies will run out...even bullets.
Sorry for your loss and hugs to her family. No, odds are, I'll survive better than a current homeless person. Money in the bank, family and friends, reasonable mental health, reasonable physical health, reasonable dental health, no addiction problems, job skills, insurance, community involvement, and previously, mostly rational life decisions. Have fun, don’t hit an iceberg ❤
I think maybe people are missing the point of your example about the homeless person. I agree that they can't actually survive well in a zombie apocalypse type emergency. I think you're just saying that we all need to remember that we need skills, community and general toughening up. I always love your videos.
Awesome video and i think you need to have to adapt quickly and i have found out that most people can adapt fairly quick but i have also noticed there are some who have issues to adapt to different situations. And a homeless person is much better prepared in my opinion first of all they are better mentally prepared and they are also very good to think outside the box and they know how to survive and they also know how to live without modern things like electricity. And they have also known how to maintain the core temperature as well and that one is really tough. You can learn from them and they know how to avoid dangerous areas and they are also very good at situational awareness.
Agreed! ❤ Life can throw Challenges. Some have them maybe yearly. Dome have less. And others have them weekly. I have been blessed yo be in the Weekly Category. 😂 I never doubted in my ability TO Cope, since I've grown up a farm girl. Then did Challenges to Cope in a big city alone. Then Cope on a young family scene. Etc etc. But I have had major health Chsllenges also. Crippled leg since 17yrs old, which has steadily Broken down over the years. Broken ribs and shoulder injuries, that reduced my muscle strength. Getting Old. I am Stuck in the house my parents had. It has issues from it's build. My dad's DIY Skills took a tank, when he had a stroke. So many of his last Fix-it's are bad. I have found 8 places where the house tried catching fire! Roof Rats invaded, ripped big holes in many walls and even ate the window frame out in the basement. Plumbers unplugged my large freezer and never told me. Days later my daughter asks IF I know the food isn't really frozen?? Ahhhhhh! That WAS my Emergency Prrparedness that melted!! Storm comes threw and knocks my eavestrough off. Basement was flooding! Sump pump stops working! Can't get ahold of man that installed it, he was hone to the other side of Country! Water IS UP almost to Electric Water Heater, Furnace AND the motor on the freezer! I had to stand in the water, trying to get pump going, while trying to not be electrocuted! With injured leg, I am trying to keep above the water, for infection reasons! I get this type of Ctisis, time after time. Or, the Bank suddenly Closes your Accoint, without Notice and you can't Pay Bills! Take a pick, I've probably had it! No wildfires or tornadoes though It does keep me resilient. But it sure is hard managing Dolo and Crippled Up! Am I as capable as a Homeless? I don't know. Maybe more? I have a nice box of Firestarters made up and another box of dried pinecone for fires. My major issue is, How to keep house warm and flooding from occurring . Like most houses, my Electric Panrl is IN the basement! Before water reaches that? I will already lose furnace, water pump, sump pump, freezer and short out the Electric Power! Fun! Wow!
So true! Adaptability is very important. I'm sorry to hear about your long-time employee's passing. I hope you and your DH are enjoying your cruise despite the sad circumstances. Bon Voyage, and come safely home again!
I’m so sorry that you lost not only a valued employee, but no doubt a friend as well. Life certainly does keep us on our toes. Hoping you’re able to find ample time to relax and enjoy your exciting adventure! Sounds like an amazing journey.❤🇺🇸
I like learning about foraging. The problem is I live in the desert. I get to choose between sage brush, cheatgrass, maybe get lucky and find some lambs ear to use as toilet paper. I've searched the extension service for locations of fruit trees, I've located some possibilities for pine nuts, and only three berry bushes. I would have to travel about 50 miles in all direction to get to a foragable area. I think most people live in urban areas that have wiped the landscape clean of foragable foods.
Followed for years but never have I seen you actually seen you go out from the home that’s like so do you go out and are you really prepared? What would happen if you were away from your home? I will continue to watch but you’re never out of your home.
