The City of Detroit has received a $2 million grant from President Joe Biden's administration to conduct an analysis for a potential lid over I-75 in Downtown Detroit.
It's a decent compromise. It would be better to remove 75, 10, and 375 highways from downtown in the areas east and south of 94/96. Most of those drivers are just driving through Detroit, not going into Detroit, so there's no need for that many highways. I rarely see any drivers on 10 southeast of 94.
GOOD IDEA I suppose… but I-375 has been WAITING for something to happen there for a VERY LONG TIME and so far NOTHING DOING ! How long would it take for THIS PROJECT especially so close to the Ilitch area projects 😒
The biggest mistake that's happening with development in Detroit is it's all mostly concentrated within the tiny little footprint of what is currently Downtown Detroit. The name of the game should be EXPANDING downtown. We are going to look up one day and realize that billions and billions have been spent and Detroit's skyline still hasn't expanded and the surrounding areas of downtown are still pathetic. Focus on developing on the rot spots and leave the well enough aspects of downtown (and the rest of the city) alone.
