Why? Top Gun isn't real. It is Hollywood make believe. Even during the heyday of dog-fighting, turn and burn dogfights were obscenely rare. Most kills came from strafe attacks on other aircraft diving at high speed from a high altitude, and using that speed to then climb again quickly and take another pass, doing it again. Air to air kills these days would almost certainly come beyond visual range, and rarely ever even get to a merge. Dogfights are not gone per se, they are just even more of a statistical anomaly than they were in the past.

Can we appreciate that simba recreated singlehandedly an F15 dogfight from the 80s. Back then it was multiple Israeli F15s that shot down 3 MiG 21s with an amraam, a sidewinder, and a gun respectively. Simba made an Amraam kill, sidewinder kill , and gun kill. Bravo good sir

The F-15EX with the AESA radar and the brand new EPAWSS EW system along with the huge weapon loadout makes it a very capable strike fighter. Not to mention the high performance engines on it.

The F-15EX is more than just a missile truck! Has substantially more powerful mission computer, new cockpit displays, a digital backbone, and the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS)-- an electronic warfare and threat identification system! With it's two F110 engines its faster and more fuel efficient than The F-15C and E variants! Lol plus it's a missile truck😆 The F-15EX is a beast!

Perfectly said Imagine the effectiveness of the f-15EX when linked to F-35 and f-22's The stealth leading them and watching flanks while the F-15EX and the AWACS Stay behind the stealth air crafts that's insane to think about those 3 Jets alone F-22 and then f-35's with f-15EX as missile trucks and SOOO much more it's insane the capabilities those 3 can pull off.

@@appa609 Missing the whole point of the missile truck concept, aren't you? With long enough range missiles and sophisticated enough data links, the idea is that a stealthy sensor platform can act as the targeter for dozens or hundreds of missiles launched by planes beyond detection ranges.

Haven't we all become a bit sceptical of what the russian military is supposed to (and claims) and what it actual does? Like apparently not actually having these missiles. Cap covered that, when they set up the missile loadout they use.

As far as I know, Russia made a brand new missile just for the Su-57. That being the "K-77M." As the info, I've seen it has two pulse motor and also AESA radar. Plus also much better range

@@5Andysalive man Ukraine is winning using primarily Soviet systems with nato analogs the compliment them. The reason russia is doing so poorly is because of the poor training of their soldiers. Ukraines military has been trained by British and Canadian special forces, who themselves are second to none. Russia has been using the same doctrine since World War Two, it’s obsolete and doesn’t work on the modern battlefield, in the same way World War One trench warfare was overcome by the German blitzkrieg.

Always keep in mind with the su-57 in sims: India was originally part of the development project but dropped out because the performance of the prototypes was so poor compared to how the jet was supposed to perform on paper. It's likely the DCS version of this jet has some degree of exaggerated performance.

With F-22's also flying around picking off strays and watching the flanks. More like having a line of UAV's in front, then the 5th gen planes then F-15EX's launching AIM-260's at 80-150nm. Attritional UAV's taking up the most hotly contested battle space, basically the vanguard of any attack will give us the most data and the most lethal attack.

I’d really like to see GR do a deep dive (or as deep as possible) into the subject of ‘jamming’. How, when, effectiveness or ineffectiveness, etc. That seems to be something that either isn’t discussed or explained very much, or for whatever reason just isn’t done very much in game. From what I’ve gathered, the F-15EX is designed yo work in close partnership with the F-35. The stealthy F-35’s fly deep into contested airspace undetected and feed data (via datalink) to the F-15’s, who are far back out of range of enemy forces. Then using the radar from the Lightning’s the Eagles lob missiles into the the enemy from long range, land to rearm, and repeat until there are no more targets to kill. The F-35 is expected to remain on station long after missiles are depleted to act as a low visibility sensor platform for other aircraft and supplementing AWACS.

@@PongoXBongo The most recent crash of Russia was just a couple of days ago, an Su 30 crashed just days ago the pilots didn't eject and was assumed nitrogen in the oxygen tanks was the reason. A Russian warplane has crashed into a residential building in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, killing both crew members - the second such fatal incident in a Russian residential area in six days involving a Sukhoi fighter plane.

I think if I had a limited missile count and a low observability platform, I'd play "sniper". Go low, stay hidden, pop up shoot and hide again. This is a similar scenario to infantry vs. sniper.

People tend to forget that even Stealth fighters like the F-22 and F-35 have wing Harpoints for carrying more bombs/missiles for NON-STEALTH MISSIONS the Raptors and Lightning IIs can also be flying Missile and Bomb Trucks like the F-15EX and the F/A-18E/F Advance SuperHornets.

Would be interesting to see an F35 leading a group of four F15EX fighters into a battle. The F15's would be able to fly with their radars off, forcing enemy aircraft to close to within visual range to engage. Meanwhile, the F35, that they wouldn't be able to detect as easily, would designate targets for the F15's to launch on. F15's operated in a similar fashion during the '91 Gulf War, except that it was an AWACS spotting targets for the F15's to engage.

These aren't F15 EXs, they're just Es. They don't have the thermal tracking modules below the cockpit or in the tailcones. The cockpit itself is the normal E cockpit whereas the EX has the glass cockpit which is essentially one big screen in the middle. They also utilize the outboard pylons where as here they only have the inboard and center pylons (The Cs and Es can't utilize the outboard pylons due to excessive wing stress but they do exist). The vertical stabilizers have antennas on the top, they are a different size here whereas on the EX they are the same size. The motors are the P&W F100 229s whereas on the EX they use the GEs, the easiest way to tell is the exhaust nozzle in which the EX has the outer dive seal, it makes it look like it has f16 motors. The EXs are even painted different, they have the same two tone color as the Cs

I'm not sure I've got this right but isn't the idea of the F-15EX missile truck to work with F-22s. The F-22s fly ahead look for the baddies and tell the F-15EX where to shoot? Is there a way to replicate this in DCS as an educational demo?

I'm no expert, but I always wondered why US hasn't modified some B1 Lancers to be missile carriers? I mean this is the way I see it: B1 Lancer shoots gazillion long range (modern version of good ol' Phoenix for example) air to air missiles at bandits and turns backs to base. Raptors and Eagles stay on course and take care of those bandits who dodged Lancer's missiles. Simple.

Believe so, certainly the F35s with pylons and missiles have a much higher radar cs, than those without.

Sort of, you have to adjust the RCS manually before the fight. So if you fire your missiles off, then your RCS does not reduce dynamically.

Even though the Su57 likely isn't on the same level as the Raptor or even the F35 in terms of stealth, I think it's the most beautiful aircraft on the planet. It's just so gorgeous.

@@robk1602 In an Earlier video with the Su-57 they came to that cross section via an average of numbers from the audience, so it's not remotely close to an accurate stat. I was hoping you had some actual real numbers.

@@robk1602 That was a patent for the first prototype and it's an average reading from all aspects. They didn't take into account that the front aspect is probably much, much lower. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be overly surprised that russian tech turns out to be shit. But, Sukhoi have made successful fighters before. Just kinda bugs me that they asked the audience instead of researching it thoroughly themselves.

Very entertaining, but I the Felon modelled as a poor aircraft not even able to fly level, maybe is a stretch too far. 3v1 Felon vs F15 and F15 winning is being very optimistic, either exceptional flying from Simba or poor flying from the rest. Love the channel

Hmm, about the blackouts , presumably because of negative Gs according to Cap. Wouldn't negative G give a red out? I'm thinking the code is going wonky because the value goes negative, and interprets that as a very large positive G load. (why it blacks out so fast.) I'm basically suspecting the variable is unable to go negative. Could that be correct ??

Unlikely, because you would calculate forces in a floating point format. However, it could be done using integers to optimize things in terms of speed. If that is the case, there must be abug in a conversion somewhere. I have seen it. I have made that mistake. It is easy to fix, but sometimes hard to pinpoint. Still, I think modern PCs should have no problem doing all of these calculations in floating point, so I think DCS does too.

@@juliusfucik4011 I think you're right, but I also know that steam leaderboards uses signed variables, limiting the possible high scores by half. And the old year 2038 problem, for examples. It's amazing how common it seems to be to use signed variables for positive only purposes. G can go negative, so here it would make sense to use that. Except the behavior seems like it's flipping over a brief negative value to a large (but brief) positive. Like you said, it's probably a conversion somewhere that does it. At least, that's what I suspect is going on.

I wonder if stealth bombers loaded with tons of long range missiles would be good air superiority fighters? Speed and maneuverability seems irrelevant if you can kill them before they know you are there.

Have the Low Observability properties of SU-57 been tested in the real world? F-15 is something like 100:0 (1? 2? In actual combat) and it would be handy to have actual real world intercepts to model from... How about observed performance stats? I'm guessing there is no real data on SU-57, much less SU-75 (Has it FLOWN yet?)
