@@GamerFriscoit’s a joke about the ussf saying they want coaches who speak English only as en excuse to exclude coaches with accents and not fluent English but who are more qualified than Greg 😂
No. No. Southgate is too big for us. We call it soccer and all that. Send him to United, they could use the most successful English Manager of the 20th century.
Remember where England were when he took over. It might not have been pretty, but his record is only second to Sir Alf. England weren’t even qualifying for tournaments and he took them to two Euros finals in s row and a wc semi. That is success. Very unfair to compare him to Berhalter who’s only been successful in CONCACAF which isn’t saying a lot when most of the opposition are tiny islands.
@@1972dsrai While you are factually correct and make some excellent points, lets not pretend like playing qualifying matches in Europe is anything even close to playing away in San Pedro Sula.
Soooo, Southgate couldn’t get the best out of some of the best players in the world. They couldn’t press properly, couldn’t attack, and failed to maintain possession out of the back… with the best players in the world. So yeah, probably could work magic with mediocre players who don’t get many minutes with their club team… haha. Ok! Good call.
Southgate was integral for England’s U21 program and built the senior team from shambles when he took over 8 years ago. He’s a blue chip investment for US Men’s soccer in the long term
@@jaybe2908 berhalter already did that bro.. u clearly dont know what hes done his last 5 years... ill rather have a proven coach who can get to the finals than someone who cant even get past his group lol.. 😂
Comparism between Spanish midfielders and English midfielders never makes sense, in the end Spanish young midfielders/ players are always better. These has been going on for a long time and it never ends well for the English. For example it’s stupid to ask about ceiling between Pedri and Mainoo because Pedri is far way more talented. Comparism between Rodri and Rice is also stupid because Zubimendi on the bench for Spain is a better, more technical, passer, than any English midfielder.
trent's a better passer then anybody in spain, scholes was better than any spain midfielder of his generation, mainoo just started & pedri can't get into the barca team
@@imobjectivelybalancedonTHEballBecause the media told you so, right?😂. Dummy. Trent is a great long passer but doesn't have the variety of passing and ball manipulation the Spanish midfielders have. Can't beat the press on receiving the ball and can't win it back if he loses it. Can't give and go in a short triangle pass system. Can't tempo control with touch, feint and dribble. He lacks the fundamental skills for a central midfielder. It's why England had such a tough time holding on to the ball and trying to retrieve it when they lost it in the final. None of your other midfielders like Mainoo or Rice are up to par either. Scholes was good but not better than Xavi or Iniesta. They had a better touch than Scholes. Similar to Zidane slightly earlier. Keep coping like the classic non thinking ( a.k a dumb) English fan you are. 😅
@@imobjectivelybalancedonTHEball I don’t know what you are smoking, Xavi and Iniesta are better than Scholes and they achieved more than him by in both club and country
The US should go for him. His style is better suited to the US team which isn’t packed with talent, but has plenty of young athletic players. His pragmatic style might not be exciting to watch, but he’ll make them tougher to break down and play counter attacking.
If USSF can't do any better than Steve Cherundolo for a World Cup that they're hosting, then USA just are staggeringly well behind where they need to be at this time. But I guess we all knew that with Berhalter there in the first place.
It's a good shout. He'd definitely get the USA further than they've ever been in a tournament so there's no question the bosses would want him, he's got oodles of tournament experience both as player and coach. You won't love the footie but he'll take you further in the tournament for sure.
Crocker has nothing to do with who the next coach is. Don Garber is the one calling the shots. Crocker is window dressing to make it look like the MLS fix isn't in the bag. 100 percent it will be another MLS coach Garber can control.
Well, If US Soccer hires another Manager from the Retirement league, I don't to hear shock and surprise when this team falls on it's face in 2026. @todwest
I would very much like to see Stevie as the Manager, Alli or Robo as asst M. Shaka as the GK coach… get Burley in also to help… Frank can coach the defense. 😂😂😂 that would be fun
I think Southgate tactical ability is more suitable for mediocre team, difficult to score but hard to beat, and He has luck that other England manager didn't, who knows US can get through at least Q-Final for WC 2026?
If usmnt picks an American coach I can’t take them seriously. There is no us coach, barring like an Eric wynalda, that has more experience than the players currently on the team. And, although it would be funny to see Eric wynalda try to coach gen z players, I think they need to go bigger.
Without effective youth work, it doesn't matter who coaches the team. If things continue like this, future generations will be just as mediocre as the current one.
Its all relative. Success for the US will be to get to the knockout stages, maybe even last 16 in 2026. After going out in the group stages at Copa they won’t want to make it two tournaments in a row as the host nation.
David Moyes is about the level of coaching this iteration of Men’s soccer team needs. He’s getting paid $4 million a season. Southgate made $5 million a year for England. Berhaltor was paid $2.26 million per season. The US CANNOT AFFORD A DECENT COACH. It just don’t maths.
ussf gouges fans 4 every match + broadcast $$ + merch $$ + they hav several huge companies as official sponsors. if they CHOOSE 2 not spend a few mil. annually on the gaffer ... then they r even worse managed than we suspected [!!]
That's a big no. What an awful appoitment that would be...y'all didnt see what he clearly couldn't do with playwrs with above technical abilities...like driving with emergency break on. The US is fortunate to have some young and more technical players than in the past, they lack that grit tho at times. But no, keep looking around. Marsch should have been the next one cuz he played attacking and wasn't scared...will come back with another suggestion if i can think of one lol
Ian Darke. You are lying as a commentator, if your country wins the World Cup, all the emotions come out. Forget being a commentator. Go back and a look at the late Thiery Roland when France won the 1998 World Cup. He was a very, very good fun, and the commentary He gave that day was the best I ever heard.
Two Euro’s finals in a row and a wc semi. He’s no Berhalter. You can’t compare what he’s done in CONCACAF and a gold cup win with Southgate’s achievements.
Here's how this will go: USSF pretends to be interested in Klopp, USSF pretends to be interested in Southgate, USSF pretends to be interested in Poch, USSF pretends to be interested in ________, USSF hires Cherundolo. There is a ZERO PERCENT CHANCE they will hire ANYONE who isn't onboard with using the USMNT to market MLS. They want a stooge who will follow orders and pick their hapless players for the '26 WC roster. A real coach won't do that, so they MUST hire a fake one. 100 percent it's Cherundolo or someone like him. The rest of this is theater.
anotha mls dud wil turn off a HUGE portion of 'Murcan futbol fans who r actually demandin results from ussf. if the ussf rly goes mls again, wel, theres 47 otha teams that wil b here in '26, most not hopeless dumpsta fires [!]
Just ask yourself : Why? The FA offered Southgate a contract extension until the next world cup. Best case scenario: he wins it on the back of some of the best players in the world. Worst case : he goes out in the group stages -> Nothing changes for him and his legacy as England’s international manager. So why? Why would he want USMNT over that contract extension. Pressure? The US also have a generation that is expected to perform. Just worse players. So he can’t rely on individual brilliance. The country also has more people to eventually hate him. Even more because he is not American. As for USMNT : Why? Why would you want Southgate? You are at a moment in time with a generation of players that need someone who knows what he is doing tactically. With him you’re just trying to guarantee a quarter finals by defending and hoping to draw easy opponents. He will not improve your team, will make no progress, won’t teach these people anything tactically. Screew results short term. Build for the future. Even if it means going out in group stages but playing good football and showing character. I’m Belgian. Don’t make the same mistakes we did. Or England until they sacked Southgate. Get a coach that recognises the team’s strengths and plays to these strengths with positive football.
Bayern are in big trouble with Kompany and Kane being clearly injured. If Kompany fails to drop Harry, at least until he's fit, they wont win anything this upcoming season either. The youngsters are good enough and he needs to build the team around Mathys Tel, Pavlovic, Musiala, Olise, and Irankunda. Palhinha for support, balance and experience. Kane9 to the impound.
Lol I thought we wanted the Americans to start enjoying football? They'll think one of the rules is the ball can't be passed forward if Southgate starts to manage them
They keep saying Spain has moved on from tiki taka 1000 passes. They didn’t move on or nothing .. they CANT play like that anymore. Don’t have the skillful players for possession so they modified into less control. Xavi and iniesta’s team would massacre this Spain
They would be lucky to have him I agree times up but that because it is a 8 year cycle and being national team boss for that long doesn't happen plus england need a manager who is going to have to be more about progressive argessive front foot football maybe carsley
My respect for Darke went down a couple notches. First of all - to Southgate as an option. Thanks but no thanks. Whythhell would we want England's hand me downs? 🤣 Second, he suggests Cherundalo as a good appointment. And that says everything *I* need to know about his opinion of US soccer. Both the US and England being in the market for a manager at the same time is going to be hilarious though! *Of course* England will try to get every manager we try to get 😂 But there's an advantage we have - the USSF has it's flaws, but at least it's not a wholly owned subsidiary of wealth-sick Oil Royals like the FA 😉
No to Southgate. His tactics are no better than Berhalter meaning none. Just has subs 90% of the time with no in game adjustments on a tactical level and when they do adjust its bunker ball playing scared.
Davie cooper of rangers was on par with Robertson as the best left wingers Scotland have ever produced.. why was he not on the list? Gemmil I think is not a genuine winger.. jimmy Johnston was in the early 70s .. but I feel Davie cooper was the best left winger of Scotland.. Robertson won two European cup with Nottingham forest & that's why he's number one.. but I still pay to see Davie cooper.. disappointed with Stevie not mentioning Davie cooper..a ranger supporter who doesn't remember Davie cooper.
How is it ridiculous... their is a sub conscience.. argentina goal in the final. Commentary nothing about the pass or assist ..the player who did it.. if it were messi different Commentary.
