If Miami's issue with Jimmy is that he's not playing a lot during the season while doing a lot of extra-curricular shit around town building his own brand, imagine how compounded that's going to be when he's in LA.

Without getting into whether he's a superstar or not, he is 35 and has a history of missing large parts of the season. Miami should trade him sooner rather than later.
@@razkable That's my bad, he's not 35 yet but I usually go by how old the player will be for the majority of the upcoming season. He's gonna be 35 in September, so he'll be 35 before next season begins.

Three things about Pat Riley 1. He wasn't wrong in calling out Jimmy Butler. But it's the way he said it. You don't tell a grown man to "shut up" in a public forum as he did. He could have made the same point without trying to humiliate and demean him in that way. 2. The Pat Riley/LeBron situation is more about Pat Riley's pride than anything else. LeBron was a free agent. He fulfilled his contract obligations. The Heat were continuallly cutting corners in order not to pay exhorbitant over the cap luxury taxes. And while LeBron probably should have told Riley ahead of time that he was not coming back, we don't know how much pressure Riley was putting on him to accept one more meeting with him. 3. Riley quit being a coach for the Knicks by sending the Knicks what amounts to a brief written message (a fax, if i remember correctly). In the meantime, he had been negotiating with the Heat for a coach/management position while he was still under contract with the Knicks. How would Pat Riley respond to Pat Rley's behavior in that instance, especially given that he was still under contract? As the saying goes, "What's good for the goose is good for the gander."
Pat Riley is the one front office MFer in the league that DON'T GIVE A FCK about a players name. but i do NOT see a scenario where they trade Jimmy Butler this offseason. they will let his contract expire. the Heat are more likely to trade either Tyler Hero or Terry Rozier.

23-24 Butler was the worst since his "I hate Minnesota and I'm leaving for Philly" season. 6 straight years of 60 game seasons and he might be going off the cliff. Move him now or they can't get a good return.
Too many teams assume their 30+ year old players will suddenly start playing 70+ games. Then they lose all that value. Bucks should have traded Khris Middleton, clippers should have traded their whole team. Instead they are signing up for a decade of bad teams with zero real chance for a title

Yeah it is an interesting. What if, to some degree? It reminds me of Dallas if they had decided to go all in with brunson and Luca and KP. They had all three but of course it's hard to second guess them being that they're in the finals. But they're in the finals with an underperforming sort of tortured and older point guard. Obviously I think brunson would be a better long-term asset than Kyrie. But we'll see. He's got the finals to prove his worth so if they win the next four games then this is a completely pointless conversation

Butler averaged 37ppg when healthy vs Jrue plus Giannis and Lopez defense. Pushed that Lakers team to 6 without Dragic(19pg) and Bam(17ppg) in 2020. And a 3pt missed shot away from beating Celtics on one leg in 2022 so as was in the finals last year despite his multiple injury? As if Lebron, Giannis, or even Curry can do that if they switch places considering they played worst than Gleague teams without him this year.😂😂😂
Jimmy’s not getting traded. Both sides are doing a little public negotiating because Jimmy wants a 4 year max extension with year 4 being a player option and Miami wants the 4th year to be a team option so they’re both just doing a little leverage posturing.

I'm a fan of jimmy butler and he's done alot in miami that I really don't believe other stars could've done with the rosters he's had there unless you wired a certain way which most of them aren't but I believe his miami era has run its course.The team has done every physical thing he could do to contend the past 5 seasons there's nothing else that can be done at this point and jimmy is at the edge of real decline it's no point dragging this out and riley understands it
the bigger problem is 1) Duncan Robinson contract and 2) Tyler Herro contract. They can't get off of those, so they can't do much. Get rid of Jimmy - they can't rebuild, nobody wants those contracts

Butler is hell overrated. He is number three on a champion team. He had a few good games and got elevated as this playoff god. He's never been a max guy.

Miami believed their own BS propaganda about the clutch and grab defense and illegal picks on offense. Jimmy Butler is a somewhat of an A- superstar. He constantly ticked off everyone at the end of his stay with all the teams that he played for, and although as a Celtics fan I can’t stand Pat Reilly, he has a great deal of pedigree in professional basketball and therefore was not going to be jerked around by a player who is getting closer to the end of his career.

Jimmy Butler has never been a superstar IMO. He gave you the impression that he was a superstar because of his confidence and alpha mentality and because of what happened in 2020 and 2023 when he basically carried those Miami Heat teams to the finals. But in 2020 bubble he ended up running into a real superstar in LeBron James, and in 2023 he ended up running into a real superstar in Nikola Jokić. Then we realize that Jimmy was really an overachiever with #2 talent. Plus he’s 35. I wouldn’t blame Miami one bit if they decided to move on from him.
