Kevin is my favorite BB of all time……. but that damn Phil in 2012-2013. Man ole man. I’d have to go with Phil. There will be a lot of Levrone fans giving Kevin the nod but most of those votes will be coming from the heart, not the head cause everyone likes The Maryland Muscle Machine.
i agree!! massive fan of kevin hes one of my favourites and i think from the front and side hes holding his own if not beating phil but from the back its gameover!! not a big fan of phil but cant deny hes one of the greatest of all time and 2011-2013 is pretty much impossible to beat unless your a prime ronnie coleman and dorian but even them its no easy task
0 seconds ago Phil Heath had better drug stacks. Cutler coaching him put him ahead of his time. Many of Phil’s details that made him seem so complete you began seeing on every bodybuilder which shows they figured out more efficient ways to stack results
Are you looking at the same video I'm looking at? The legs of these two are nearly identical. 97 levrone had bigger legs than previous years, and 99 was bigger still but I won't get into that since it's outside the topic of this video, but suffice it to say kevin really worked on his legs in the late 90s.
I really wanted to see some old school bodybuilders, who were insane, against these new generation we have today. I mean, the guys back in that time didn't won anything because the competition was INSANE! Imagine levrone, markus ruhl, lee priest etc?
@@LASSEFITTA yeah true, imo I think flex is more impressive then Phil still,as crazy as that may sound bc he never won an o against Ronnie who's pretty much unbeatable,I still think flex in 98-99 might be more impressive then Phil even in 2012
Yeah i know. The title is stupid. Only 2 bb from any era could stand next to phil without getting bullied. And that would be ronnie and maybe dorian. Some would say jay, but i think he is too damn soft from the rear.
@@imofftheleantho Maybe not, but hes size can not be ignored. If he nailed hes conditioning he would have pushed Phil atleast. Mass is king in the open class.
The last shot of Kevin somehow sums up what was special about him: crazy aesthetics and proportions with good width and roundness. He looks like an oversized man's physique guy but still classic and modern at the same time. Marvel. Phil is on another level though. Cannot match Kevin's aesthetics but can more than match his conditioning, muscularity, roundness, etc. He is the obvious winner.
Side triceps levrone better upper body? What are you on about bro hahaha, phil's triceps are the most insane ever on that pose, and his shoulders are way bigger too-
Phil's 2011-2013 physiques are arguably the 2nd best physiques of all time, and we all know who's 1 and 3, so nope sorry Levrone at his best he'd be 5th or 6th
Dorian would stomp Heath stop with the nonsense A strong argument could be made for Jay as well, check out the 2010 O where both men were slightly bellow their best and Jay WON. Thats a FACT Way larger way more conditioned, even Jay cutler himself said it on his podcast Levrone isnt even 6th imo, he is great but overrated and underrated at the same time
Kevin definitely has the more streamlined/statuesque physique but realistically Phil Heath has the better modern bodybuilder physique (I'm just referring to the front and side shots because the back shots are a foregone conclusion). Phil's head-to-toe roundness is unmatched, Kevin matches him in some areas like the delts and triceps but Phil is just rounder everywhere else. Only Flex, Dexter and Bonac come close, but only close... Phil's overall roundness is still superior.
97 wasnt PRIME Levrone, at least not the Olympia version, he was much better at the Euro tour after. From what Ive seen and heard the English and Finland GPs in particular. Remember he was in SIXTH place after prejudging, waterlogged.Even Priest and Dillett were ahead of him. Kevin wins most of the poses in this one.Only ones Kevin wins is FLS and AT .Now ofc it this was PRIME Kevin the 2 side poses and MM are too close to call. Even if they tied 4-4 in the mandatories( lets say prime Kevin takes both side poses) Id still say Heath wins the quarter turns and also gets the nod on account of back poses being more important in the minds of the judges.
@@panathatube Yes they do look closely at all the photos in this comparison check out the difference in STANCE Phil opens his legs outward way more in most of them, which makes them appear much larger And in the side poses he has way more flex in the hams, he squats down low during the side shots Kevin was way more upright. Not to mention Phils pics are of much higher quality overall PLUS the 2013 Olympia had far better lighting AND dark backdrop than the 97 one
@@panathatube yes they are around same size, remember thy both245 lb and same height....and similar sized frames too.phils legs might be a tad larger it dont mean shit, because phils legs were too big for his narrow ass torso which ruins his upper lower balance
What prevents a kevin win here is firstly conditioning and also the legs. The back poses really shows this issue with conditioning. The leg weakness is obvious in most poses.
Phil Heath had better drug stacks. Cutler coaching him put him ahead of his time. Many of Phil’s details that made him seem so complete you began seeing on every bodybuilder which shows they figured out more efficient ways to stack results
Hey, marx. Can you do a video talking about the history of steroids in bodybuilding. Maybe go in depth into what steroids where used in the 60s, 70s, 80s 90s and how we ended up with the mass monsters of today. Fan request 💪💪💪
I'm not sure Mark knows all that much about the different compounds and also not sure he has been a regular on obscure forums to really understand what was happening say 20 years ago.
If only Phil had the abs of Kevin, he'd really be unstoppable. The midsection was always the Achilles heel for Phil. These picture comparisons though, really highlight how complete a bodybuilder he was otherwise. The symmetry, the proportions, the fullness, Phil was on another level. If only he had a better midsection.
I think the judgeging was biased more than half of the shots covered the legs of kevin levrone and as we know phil heath was ocmpletly destroying kevin in that department and i think phil heath was in better overall condition than kevin, this is not mens physique where you ignore the legs its body building😓
@@bobjohnson1633 Definately, because although most people would prefer to look like Kevin over Phil, I'd bet my left nut most people would also prefer too look like Bumstead over Kevin and Bumstead is not beating neither Keving nor much less Phil by any bodybuilder criteries, they are both objectively more impressive although Bumstead has a much prettier physique than both, you feel me?
@@aliasalbatross700 Hell nah. Kevin has a much prettier physique than Bumstead way more aesthetic and much more genetically gifted. A small version of Kevin like 1991 is probably what most could consider like the perfect body.
@@damkmankm3755 well the bodybuilders of early 2000s of course. A declining Ronnie, a big but blocky Jay, a sharp but smaller Dexter and all the others. I think if Kevin hadn't retired and kept training and perfecting his conditioning (which admittedly was seldomly on point) with his insertions and volumes and aesthetics he could have been a real threat in a transition era, before the rising of Phil. BTW while I acknowledge Phil having superior conditioning and incredibly well rounded muscle bellies, there's something about his physique, maybe his structure, that makes him look a little awkward to my taste.
In all fairness, the lighting in Kevin's side chest washed out all of his details. Also, in their primes, I'd bet big money that Levrone had better, bigger wheels. Even in '92, when I think he overdieted, his quads were huge and shredded. His hamstrings that year were also easily in the top ten of all time. Phil would have a slight edge in the calves, though.
Phil would win as he was a genetic freak but I would pick for Kevin to win because i was always a big fan of Kevin but maybe if he trained all year round he could of won as Kevin was also a real freak with genetics and considering what he could achieve with a couple of months of training was so mind blowing and i definitely believe if he had of stayed with Dave Palumbo he would of done some amazing things in bodybuilding and even could of beating Dorian and Ronnie and Dorian was a favourite of mine with me being from the U.K. there was only one other person who could of beating Kevin if they had both tuck bodybuilding 100% seriously and that was flex
@@bobjohnson1633 which areas? only one pose he looked bad in his prime (2011, 2013) is front lats spread cuz of his narrow structure. 2011 phil is 1 of the greatest physiques ever imo. Yes, in terms of better looks u can say kevin looks better but in competition phil is better, just too complete and conditioned.
Aesthetics and better structure, so basically he's way superior lmao. Sure Phil has better conditioning and a better back but overall his body is ugly.
@@patrick22014 ... better arms, better legs including calves, rounder muscles, better separation, more details. Aesthetics means nothing in bodybuilding, that's why dorian and late ronnie were winning. Still 2011 phil was pretty aesthetic imo. I would love to have ugly body like phil heath xD
@@Bonekk1992 Phil has better forearms but his arms are smaller than Kevin's and that roundness make his overall body look like a cloud instead of hard rock solid muscle. More separation and details doesn't make his body better than Kevin's. It simply makes his body fit what judges are looking for, that's why Dorian beated Kevin, Flex and Shawn if judges stop rewarding the conditioning and start rewarding something else like aesthetics then the whole argument that the most conditioned guy has a better body crumbles, so it's just subjective. 2011 Phil isn't aesthetic compared to Kevin, sure it was aesthetic compared to Kai or Jay but being more aesthetic than them wasn't such a big accomplishment and congratulations, you might belong to the 1% of people that would like to look like Phil Heath over Kevin.
Phil would obviously win in today's judging standards... doesn't mean he's better than "The Marilyn Muscle Machine" Infact, I would go as far as to say that today's HD pics give phil gutt an advantage in itself. Kevin is better. His physic is just better
Kevin in his own words said he never worked out for more than 5 months in a row, think if he had been more consistent like other guys, he never fulfilled his true potential as a result
