Not Queenstown to live, but you should check out Wanaka, a smaller and much more relaxed version of Queenstown…pretty close too, if you did want to pop over to Qtown occasionally
If you were there when they were replacing the gondola, thats about as quiet as town gets. Its manic other times of the year, a few weeks ago the queue to get through the BP roundabout near the airport went all the way back into town! A combination of commutes, everyone heading to the remarks and milford traffic. Its also a veeeeery transient town, so can be hard to settle around a group of mates. Its pretty hard to beat the lifestyle of finishing work and 30 mins later youre at the base buildings of a skifield though!
