I own one of these and several handhelds and gamepads from this company. I’m very happy with the purchases. Even if I could get this and build this for cheaper directly on my own, I choose not to for convenience. To me, the price is justified. The customer service alone has been top notch and one of the main reasons I’ve been a repeat customer. Support is there if and when I need it.
Thanks for the review! I just want to point out that most of the things you brought up were fixed. The region flag system was removed because as cool as it looks it's also giving the wrong data. The multi discs are appearing in the menu so it looks like duplicates but I think we'll move into making folders for those. The red screen issue was fixed with Amiga and the build will continue to improve! Nobody better to rip into a build with nothing but honesty. Thank you again!
I have a batocera built with steam, 2tb nvme built by myself on a micro pc and I couldn't be happier. Definitely recommend that route. Playing the games are fun but learning how the emulators work and optimizing everything to your taste is just as cool. I play from pong to Cyberpunk on that thing, it's like rewarding your inner child with the ultimate console you wish you had 30 years ago.
How do you do this? Is there somewhere that taught you or you just know how? I want a retro gaming system and don’t mind buying a mini pc to accomplish it
I cannot wait for whatever Neo Geo content you have coming up next. I've become such a huge Neo Geo fan over the last 2 years basically because of your videos.
We love you for your honesty and that’s why I’m here! Excellent review! This consul isn’t the worst but I’m still waiting for the, Asian Emulation Station MagnumOpus. Thank you for the video!
So, Basically hes buying the parts to put his kit together from china. But he is cleaning up the ROMS selection? Having someone curate the list so its not full of junk might be worth it for many. But it seems that there were still duplicates.
I cut out over 30 minutes of footage from this video as it was really getting ridiculous in my opinion. Like the typical Sega Genesis and 2 Megadrive categories and regions still being mixed in all of them... duplicates in pretty much all the typical 8 and 16 bit systems... doesn't seem much cleaned up of a rom selection to me... but I just couldn't keep this video at about 50 minutes long as noone would watch it so I had to be selective cutting out parts. But overall I wouldn't score this setup much higher than the typical straight from China builds I have reviewed in the past.
Thank you for having integrity, not so common now-a-days. I also would prefer a "clean" build, rather than just dumping as many games as possible to make it look better.
There are pbp Ps1 files out there that have no music, and because of that the files are smaller. Only a 500gb sd card, so they're skimping to save space
The American and Japanese versions of 1080 Snowboarding are identical. It boots into a language selection screen if no save data is present. (But yeah, some of those flags are incorrect)
I love mine it's my favorite emulation console. My only gripe is the fact that the left analog stick brings up a black menu box that's very annoying. Other than that I really love the layout and customer service is great. The lay out for mine is different from this one though.
I think in some cases the duplicates are "disk 2" images. I am curious if you dig into the cd/dvd images if they were converted to chd or if they are the larger iso files. Also, there are some good psp minis games :)
I think some of the duplicates in the CD based systems might be the different disks of multi disks games. I noticed that each time I recognized a multi disk game it would have the same number of entries as number of disks.
@@Madlittlepixel Sometimes the duplicates are different versions of the same game. When I patch my roms I would forget to edit the names as Rev 1 or 2 that way I know which rom is the original and which is patched.
@@Foun_D_OnePiece not telling me anything I dont know. Its sloppy at the end of the day and no build should have 8 versions let alone 2 or 3 of the same game.. less its rom hacks of a game.. then those go into a separate category.
Some of those are not duplicates, like for Sega dreamcast some of those that had 4 of the same name were 4 different discs, mines like that because I'm too lazy to combine the 4 discs into 1 because I just havnt got that far yet lol it doesn't bother me too much I know for gamecube I have some games like Goldeneye that have a disc 1 and disc 2 as well, so that could be the case for some of them
Yeap; however, some do had duplicates cause they are different revisions for example Eternal Champions: Challenge From the Dark Side had two NA releases (a version 1.0 and a version 1.1.). The versions 1.1. fix some of the loading glitches of the first print one. This is why they put both in there, which one is which is the real question cause you could easily mistake one for the other as the changes are very minor.
Question for you, I hear you say its better to just make your own build. If i already have different emulator consoles such as this one. Can I just take the roms and dump them into my own mini PC build?
@@retrokatgaming I was chatting with your store online today and the person I was talking to flat out lied about the number of games available for certain systems. I only found out after getting a games list. Which took about ten minutes to get btw. You should try and fix that, it turned me off a sale. You do have games I've never seen on an emulator before. I was interested! Not ragging but just telling you my experience.
Not ragging on you either! You spoke to a chat rep that handles the used games category of the website and those guys don't have this information. Only we do. They did say they didn't want to give you the wrong info and yes you did confirm later with the link. Anyhow, I'll talk to the reps to not handle these inquiries anymore. Sorry about that. @@mentalphilanthropist35
I wouldn't buy anything like this again because i had a x pro 2 from china and the memory card refused to work after a couple of months and now all ime left with is the box, 2 playstation style controllers a remote and a load of trail and error with retro arch. I like my A500 mini it's the biz 😊
Going to the website where it's for sale he is charging almost double for a 512gb card instead of a 256gb card. What's the price difference for a 256 and 512 card? Not enough to justify the price jump I'm sure. "Oh but you get twice as many games", bro, he builds the 512gb card one time and then clones it. Once built it's the same amount of time to put the system together. Just build your own system gents, it's not difficult and it's fun.
I respect your reviews. I have bought one device based on your review. The Anbernic rg35xx. And i really enjoy it. Been thinking about one of these, but they are a bit expensive. Love these videos, but i also love the build your own videos, i may try that route. 👍
Why do I have to pay for the Android box that has Emuelec preloaded with the ROMs when I can make one by myself all I need is a cheap ass Android TV Box a controller doesn't matter which one is and a micro sd card no matter what size is and a tutorial guide on how to.
Has azure dreams 😢 I might have to buy this constole because of that, trying to find the best constole mostly jrpg or rpg price doesn't matter has to be tv playable with controllers. No luck so far..
All the different emulators I’ve purchased all have lag issues with the controllers. It irritates the hell out of me, especially when I grew up with the NES. Timing is everything in a game. Any suggestions on what emulator I should purchase?
Buy a cheap used computer, so you can even play PC games and download all the emulators on the internet, which run much better and offer more options. Hard drives have also become extremely cheap, or a used ps3 which can play ps1, ps2, ps3 and roms like mega drive and snes on custom firmware
So in your opinion what is the best plug n play I'm looking at a bartop mame fully setup at the moment but it's nearly 600 bucks I think I'd much prefer to play off my 60' TV with good controllers and bring back some childhood memories
It would take only 1 motivated Chinese seller to buy the same retro gaming computer kit, name it something silly like "Super Famous Game-It Genie 2000XT Pro-Am", and then just spend a week cleaning up the same old frumpy dump that's on all of the others and become the new standard in cheap Amazon/Temu/Ali retro boxes. Why nobody do dis? Imagine the reviews for having more than 2 PCE CD games and 3DO NFS not being the dating game. 😂😂😂
It's a tweaked build. I bought the same with some Bearway thing coming in from Apparently, Florida. Seems to be a rebranded SCX3. I dunno man, they cut the list down from 114,000 to 60,000 so maybe they got rid of a bunch of dupes. We'll see. This build is also a little high. He's definitely overcharging.
Hi all, does anyone know (or can suggest) if this/any retro console has games along with game cheats/codes? A plug and play set up. Thanks in advance :)
This - I would rather have a small, curated collection of games I know work correctly and that I'll actually want to play than thousands of games with countless duplicates, untested or barely tested and many of them being mediocre "me too" games aping popular genres.
I'm glad your reviews are honest. I guess I fall into the lazy hopefull for a good build great everything product. I hope you do find the needle in the hay. 👍😎
I don't have an pc but looking for someway to get wwf legends 64 no mercy mod to hook to my 70 inch tv. Any help would be appreciated. Can I put wwf legends 64 no mercy mod on any plug and play? Any plug and play have wii punch out?
Yeah I am finding that out, after this video a couple other companies who appear to be based in "Canada" hit me up and I dug into them and found they are really in China.. have a weird feeling about this RetroKat brand, googled them and they been around a bit and seems it could be exactly what you are saying.
Despite the views and personal opinions expressed in this video, I can honestly attest for this product and company being an excellent plug and play experience. Worth every penny.
I definitely regret buying anything from them because it is NOT user friendly and from the games I chose most either didn't load at all, audio was choppy as hell or it had very bad lag and out of the 63 games I played only 5 or 6 were perfect with no issue ...only way to fix it by watching his video which explains that the advanced settings for specific roms are lock and you have to email him to get the unlock code...it's so you can switch to a different version of that specific room and it MAY fix the problem...I got it because I wanted to finally beat breath of fire 3 and play brave fencer musashi with cheats but I can't play that game because it won't play 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ selling them for $300 is wild and locking a setting for our safety...how are you going to lock something that you are selling to people...if they mess it up then so what they paid for it, it's their right
Cheap Chinese junk, imported and exported from Canada for a premium! I like the Chinese Red Screen of Death, its placement right at the beginning of the video is about as great as Windows 98 crashing during a pre-release preview/presentation right in front of Bill Gates. All topped off with a healthy sprinkling of dupes for good measure to make sure not one byte on that storage goes unused (unwasted?). And that PSX sound test was awesome... haha
set it up your self don't be lazy get a nice 5tb hd or 12tb what ever you want i already had nvidia shield tv pro i grabbed all my things from punks you can scrape your artwork from screenscraper i bet he forget to add the bios files of amiga that is why they didnt run lol that is why you do it your self.
Update: I just got mine and there are some issues that they are helping me with such as no sound, lag, sound stutters and not being able to play certain games. I hope that these can be resolved but I just wanted to share that with you.
Yeah, looking at those very cheap looking controllers and the size of the box, I’m going to say 5hat this is yet another in a long line of cheap, shitty emulation boxes.
Who can i get up with to build me a plug and play that works. Plain NES, Super NES and 64 and id be fine. I just want one that works. Someone who does this hit me up.
Super console x2 pro. It’s on aliexpress for around $50. I’ve had one for a couple years now and can’t complain. The controllers that come with them are ok buy not the best. I use an xbox controller and couldn’t be happier.
I paid $60 for a super console x2 pro which I use with an xbox controller. It plays everything that this box plays for a fraction of the price. Seems like a ripoff. The playstation knockoff controllers that come with all these consoles are doable but using an xbox controller is just so much better. I’m glad you did this video so uninformed potential buyers can actually see what they’re getting. Good job! 👍
