@@1985slipstream I think really it was Logan was affordable. He came with some sponsorship money and his father happens to be friends with one of the heads of Doralton capital. That is why.
It is nothing to do with money. He costs them a lot but probably brings as much in from his own pocket. It is about deserving a f1 seat and Sargent does not deserve it
@@Azmania3000 😂 A very good point! I do consulting work from Ecuador to Tanzania to Indonesia, and when we weren’t locked tight in traffic, I had a rear seat POV of Grand Theft Auto. At least when my eyes were open. I suspect taxi drivers have to replace their horns as often as they get an oil change. And on a positive note, the best driver/fixer/translators I’ve ever had overseas were almost always a smart, impressive, multilingual taxi driver I met. I paid them the same as I’d pay a good American teammate (because they ARE an indispensable teammate), and my life and work in those places always became so much better and easier. Especially whenever I’d be doing return trips. 😊
Like @harryalfie8149 said, his sponsors plus if there was an American driver in F1, it would attract more American fans which will give F1 more revenue.
@@413TomaccoRoad yeah, and what was the result of that? Losing their engine supplier the driver’s world championship. Latifi never gets enough credit for Abu Dhabi 2021, and he should never have been in the seat to cause the chaos that ensued.
If they put a driver in who came dead last, but didn't crash the car almost every race, it would be a happier result for Williams. Mick would be a great fit for that seat for six months. He's actually quite good. But the Haas did not suit him, and the pressure got to him. Under Vowels he'd probably do quite well.
@@fiarandompenaltygeneratorm5044 Although I can see where you're coming from, Mick had 3 big DNF's. (And others, that weren't his fault) You can practically play drinking bingo with Sargeant on if he will bring out a safety car, and consistently drink.
This is slightly ludicrous. Logan already isn't returning to Williams next year (they signed Sainz and resigned Albon), it makes little to no sense to throw someone in the car for 10 races that will not drive for them next year and will continue to make rookie mistakes on track this year. It's not that I don't want to see Schumacher in a car again, as he's been doing well in the World Endurance Championship, but what is the point? This is just "Will Perez be Replaced?" Discourse 2.0. It's boring, baseless conjecture. Please talk about what is actually happening in the sport.
@@MaxBarwell-sx6ir pointless eh? clearly you know nothing about F1. come from netflix did we! The team need the points in the constructors championship in order to get MORE prize money at the end of this season! therefore having more money to go racing NEXT year So NOT ACTUALLY POINTLESS kid. Not to mention the other problem of crashed cars costing a hell of a lot of money to repair and or replace. Since logan seems to spend most of his time facing the wrong direction while playing bumper cars in his multi million $/£/e car! and costing the team millions iot is certainly not bloody pointless to get him the hell out of the car and get someone in that wont cost them million every bloody race! So you see genius why it is in fact not pointless and you in fact would not post comments before either consulting an adult or indeed knowing what the hell ur talking about. MmmmKay
Mick is such an obvious choice here. Spare Logan from all the chances of causing more wrecks in the remaining 10 races and let him find his way to other categories. Even if Mick scores 1 single point or just spares the team from crashes, Williams are going to get a huge win from that
Is there any weight to these claims or is it just Sky thinking up a headline? Surely there is absolutely no benefit to swapping anyone out half way through the season if there is already a replacement lined up 6 months later?
I was hoping Sargeant would’ve gotten up to speed by now, but it seems clear that he’s either still not ready, or he’s just not cut out for Formula One.
With two American races to come, it's very unlikely they will make any changes this year. Even Guenther Steiner waited until the end of the year to replace Mick.
Just put antonelli in already. I mean we all know he is getting the merc seat so why not just give him that boost in experience and confidence early. And antonelli probably wont cost williams millions of pounds.
> Just put antonelli in already. No point. He's getting time in Merc cars - old one's admittedly, but probably more valuable than driving a current Williams.
@@peterthomas5792driving older cars alone in test sessions is very different from races. Kimi could still benefit from some race experience before rocking up to Mercedes next year.
@@peterthomas5792 my argument is that it would give him much needed race experience and help ease the pressure as he will probably go into a mercedes that is fighting for podiums and wins most races.
Replacing sargeant who bins the car a lot with Schumacher who bins the car even more and cracks under pressure? No I don’t think James vowles is that stupid.
Watching this kind of news really makes me think how some countries news outlets (namely Brazil, where I come from) are insanely biased towards their drivers. Literally after this sargent rumor started, I got some Instagram posts about "Breaking, Drugovich to race in Williams from next race onwards"
Stick what and why to McLaren with Pourchaire? Pourchaire belonged to the Sauber academy. Pourchaire would be a weak choice. He’s gone to Indy and had a few races and didn’t particularly perform well. I expected him to be up near the front of those races and he was nowhere. Doesn’t bode well for an F1 seat if you can’t do well in Indy.
Absolutely not I would never put Mick Schumacher in the car. he’d folded up, probably just as bad. I don’t think putting Liam is as difficult as you’re thinking.
i don't understand how he's still with the team, they've spent more repairing his car than they have done on upgrades and in this cost cap era that's a huge issue fr the team. i think schumi would be a much better option
I don’t understand why teams don’t do this once they’ve decided to replace their driver for the next season. For example, why don’t Alpine put Doohan in for Ocon now? It’s more beneficial for them to get him half a years experience before next year
Sell whatever shares you have in the carbon fibre manufacture sector. If Sargeant loses his job companies will go to the wall as quick as he does most weekends.
Why the F1 pundits and the jerks on the social networks need every time to depict a driver as a villain ? Formerly we saw this on Mazepin, then Mick, then Stroll, then Ocon and now Logan. Jealousy is acting badly on certain people.
I can’t see why Mercedes are so resistant to Kimi A seeing out the season in the seat. There are clearly contractual, maybe well-being reasons. It seems obvious to me.
F1 really needs to find a way of weeding out family dynasties in the sport. Can't be watching in 2075 and its still Schumacher VI, Leclerc IX and Sainz IV competing for the WDC while Verstappen Jr is in F2 waiting for his debut.
How many millions does it cost Williams each time he destroys the car, and for zero chance of any points. I assume contractually they would have to buy him out as I assume his dad paid millions for the drive. Probably easiest to just let him see out the rest of the season and pray he doesn't cause too much damage to the car in the remaining races.
No point in changing Sargeant for Schumacher. They’d get the same result. Hulkenberg used to be the super sub any team could call on, but no one really fills that role at the moment.
Well considering Schumacher is probably the logical solution, he's available and he's got F1 experience etc, I know F1 drivers makes mistakes, but logan Sargent is making to many mistakes.
Surley if they're going to drop him then Merc are going to be knocking on the door to get Antonelli in the car as a bit of extra prep before he joins Merc next year
I think Lawson is the guy who could be loaned to Williams. Remember folks, Albon raced with Red Bull on his helmet the entire 2022 season. And Alex is one of Liam’s best friends in the paddock. What I’d like to see is Antonelli stay in F2 for one more season. Bottas goes to Merc on a 1 year deal. Lawson to Red Bull, Checo to Sauber/Audi, Hadjar to Vcarb.
Tricky thing is that another driver is going to want to showcase themselves and therefore might overdrive and crash; it’s not like Williams are likely to have a second driver in the points either.
That would have been a USD2m crash yesterday. And, the fourth major crash in a bit over 12 months. James Vowles has a fiduciary duty to the Williams owners and sponsors. It's actually an easy decision.
100% they should drop him and get their reserve driver in. There’s nothing to lose, Sargeant isn’t delivering and only costing. He’s a lovely guy but he’s not cut out for F1.
Don't see how Mick benefits from taking the seat, he's not going to be able to beat Albon short-term and it's not going to get him a seat for next season.
The only benefit for Schumacher is if he has decided that his F1 career is over and he gets to finish off with a couple of F1 races to sign off his career. Otherwise I would think he is better off getting his backside into a competitive car in another series and trying to win races.
Lawson going to Williams would be a dirty move. The dude has earned his chops to get an RB seat. Ricciardo needs to stop chasing this dream of returning to Red Bull. Dude doesn't have it anymore.
Seriously, he needs another shot with a team that at least won't turn him into his teammate's punching bag. His 2 seasons didn't do him justice because of an awful car and got dominated by Alonso so bad his name becomes the unofficial term for being dominated all season.
Should sky sports drop their second rate speculating reporter before end of season? Much better title for a video. Keep those that have real f1 insights and drop the loosers.
About time. I assume Sargeant brings significant sponsorship or he wouldn't still be in the car. Or may not have got in it in the first place. Completely outclassed by every other driver on the grid, including Zhou.
Logan doesn’t bring any financial backing, he’s there because he’s the premier driver of the Williams, and dropping him after one season would be a pr nightmare for James Vowles
As an American I can hardly wait for Sargent to go. God bless him but seeing him wreck in Zanfort hurt me. Lawson should do well and will give Redbull a chance to put him against Riccardio I do like Sargent and he is a good driver, just not F1 level.
It really might be better for Logan's long term confidence for them to take the seat from him. He's clearly losing confidence race by race, he has a career to think about.
