With world protest shouting go green ..are thy not even question the green belt and why it is there .. Greenbelts have an important function when it comes to the ecological health of a city. As you know, trees and other forms of greenery help improve air quality. Trees help remove CO2 from the atmosphere during the process of photosynthesis and return oxygen back into the atmosphere. So
You can never get this green belt land back , first all brown sites should be used , empty space above retail stores should be converted, people should be encouraged to down size if they are living in houses too large ( I mean encouraged not forced )
There needs to be a mass building of small bungalows so the elderly can move and free up the family size homes they live in. All the houses built recently in my area are three, four bed detached as they go for the highest prices.
@chrysalis4126 my mother in law has just sold her house and moved into a flat purpose built with bistro on site all over 50 s she loves it , it's rented just over 400 pounds a month , that's what we need more of and that also has freed up her capital so she has plenty of money to live on , and that money is going back into economy, that makes sense to me , I'm not suggesting for one moment people should be forced to do that but it would give people a good option if they were available, around by us all these houses are going up , the road networks can't cope the infrastructure is just not there , but if you go into the little towns all the shops are empty and above the shops are just derelict, makes no sense

@@juliecrowe5252 We had this in Scotland many years ago. It was called "sheltered housing". Basically it was a community within the community which had security, social events and communal areas both indoor and out. Heating and electricity were free. My grandmother loved the place. We seemed to stop building these facilities.
They should never have been allowed to sell off council houses in the first place , those people who bought one only got one because the previous tenants didnt , makes me mad
cities can't just stop growing forever 91% of UK land is undeveloped I think the countryside will be fine with a couple less fields although I'd support some parks to be set up with the new houses to make the available nature more accessible rather than just private fields a lot of it is now

Green belt land is important to us as it provides space for leisure activities and socialising. We will end up with concrete jungles all over the countryside if we let Labour get away with this madness.
That is the greatest move i have heard in the last 20 years to help people get on property ladder! Most mourners who dont want this land touched do not understand the experience of young people forced to live with their girlfriends or wives in parents homes!
I do understand it. It's not worth butchering your own country. This is a short term fix at best. In a few years they'll need more houses and be in the same situation. More houses is not the solution.
We need to stop the nimbys from objecting to house building. They had no problem with their houses being built in the 50s 60s 70s. Perhaps they could release their second homes, their holiday homes. Their investment on Air BNB for a family to live in. Salcombe is now just 20% full time occupied. The rest is holiday homes and AirBnB. The lack of supply and high demand pushes up prices out of reach of ordinary people. Where do they expect people to live? Do they want a dystopian Hunger Games society.
So can i buy a bit of cheap green belt and build my own? Thought not government a total waste of space and money i blame guy fawkes for not doing the job properly back in the day
Just down the road from me. Builder buys farm land from land owner. Farmer has to 'move off'. Locals object. Planning permission for 164 houses approved subject to some archeological checks. First sods cut. Its the builder who bought the land not the council. If the land owner wants to sell and the builder wants to buy things can move very quickly. Just saying.
So simplest form are they compensating homeowners in those greenbelt areas for lowering housing prices ? By making it less affluent and desirable and safe for families and the extra cost for services ????? Along with insurance policy which will be going up due to who will be placed in the areas ? I suspect not !
I cannot see how the 1.75 million (upgraded) target will be met. Persimmon say they can do 10,000 by the end of the year. It is also not unknown for developments to run over schedule. We are now talking an average of 1000 homes per day needing to be built for the next 5 years.
And the new houses are all snatched up by rental groups who are cosy with investers and developers, who cut quality and practice for profit. Yes it keeps some of the workforce in jobs and money but the houses are not targeted at first time buyers in reality. How about they use all the disused and vacant land/houses everywhere first. Councils can not even keep their books balanced how will they oversee this for the advantage of people its 'vision' (lies to get past building restrictions) is meant for.

It takes 9 months for a child to be born, the Mother nurtures her baby and then gives birth, called going through 'Labour'. The baby learns to talk, to walk, to learn, many things we take for granted. They are the miracle of life which should be treasured. So we can only try to understand the sheer pain and gut wrenching hurt the murdered children's parents are going through. Also the poor children and adults who witnessed this horrific slaughter and is engraved in their heads for eternity. So when genuine everyday people who cared, showed their respects in London, they were badly let down, treated horrifically by the police who were out for a fight that day. No compassion, no understanding, no proper leader to come out from Number 10 to reassure the people of Britain, that they would act against knife crime and bring in tough measures etc, just intimidation and name blaming. Turning against their own people. NO understanding, no signs of compassion at all. wasn't the point of the green belts to be environmentally friendly and not have every inch of the country houses ? why not build up first or perhaps use those baron brown fields ? or actually tear down abandoned warehouses and things like that and use that big space to make a new estate ?
That's the bits they describe as grey and brown belt. Previously developed left to ruin. Shame they didn't think of that before they allowed all the green near me to expand the housing scheme x5
@@gglen6574 oh same by me used to be all farm fields but its all houses now and more planned to turn the few last bits into houses causing chaos with road works non stop for the last 3-4 years but no highschool built which was supposed to be done 10 years ago and to top it off no new gp surgey or even expanding the current one because that would " go into the green belt" that was already overwhelmed by having to service 4 towns with small populations....

If we need more houses then yes that's more important than green grass fields. That said the councils should pay the price the land is worth, I'm sure most objecting to this have homes already
