Count Basie One More Time Full Album 

This album cover caught my eye and triggered some good memories.. As a kid growing up in NY in the '60s and early '70s, my house was always filled with swingin' jazz, thanks to my dad. Basie was a fixture, and this record was among my dad's collection. Erroll Garner, another favorite of his, was my namesake. Thanks to that early influence, I became a serious jazz fan and eventually a musician (sax for 35 years now).. Funny how your childhood influences can determine the direction your life takes.. My dad could have been into hard rock, or classical, or opera or country, and maybe my ears would have developed a different taste (and I would probably have a different name!).. But as it is, I'm glad it was jazz.. This music had brought me such joy and peace throughout my life, through both listening to and performing it... My dad passed last year, but the influence of his musical tastes lives on in me, and I hope to pass the jazz tradition on to my daughter as well...

As an Englishman... I got to thinking... what did American culture bring to my life!? Corn flakes; Black Friday; Chewing Gum; Trick or treat; Pop corn Peanut butter 😰 Tea shirts But you know what; all that is eternal about American culture is right here and I would willingly get down to my knees to this personification of whats is truly north america's beautiful gift to the whole world- Your music and this is a the summit of all that!

Don't sleep on Quincy Jones on this one! However,..The Basie Band, from the late 30s through...well...NOW...will always rule. See: Jimmy Ruffin, as well, Ridiculous swing in the 50s. Dad was a clarinet player. Mom was a beauty queen. Dad was a nut. Mom said Basie "blared". (She was into Perry Como.) That aside, Basie frickin' ROCKS! When I sobered up, I hit the Berkeley Main Library and collected all of Basie's best--which is to say FORTY YEARS of hot hits. (Including his turns in Europe and with Sinatra.) Never doubt Basie...

if you roll a joint on this album cover it will taste exceptionally well.

The track markers should be okay though. On reviewing the cuts, I am more confused. Perhaps I missed one? 20:00 and 23:30 seem to be the same song? (not the same track, but 23:30 a continuation of 20:00 after a pause) * The CD version has the same track order, although the times are all different. Jessica's Day is remarkably different at 4'27"

Question. As a jazz musician, I love me some Basie. But this album - does it (mainly, well, its name) have any correlation at all to the phrase/song/album "Baby One More Time," by Britney Spears? "Baby," "Basie," they just sound too similar for me, I can't help but wonder. Did one play words on another? Was "Baby One More Time" a common phrase before Spears' album? That's my guess. Prolly has some meaning among general humanity that I just don't get cause I stay inside all day. Or maybe this is just some random coincidence and I'm being too much. I don't know. Someone agree with me please.
