NOFX's BEST ALBUM: Give Fat Mike a Mark Twain Award, despite the fact that the sheep couldn't consent. Despite the cover, this is NOFX's best album for me. The topics of the songs and the subjects have held up well. Hobophobic-Witty play on words and an honest fear, like they might fly off the handle from Schizophrenia and drug addiction, all the while being humorous and acknowledging they deserve basic human rights. Freedom Like a Shopping Cart- the American dream of capitalism. Having a pocket full of money and going on a spending spree, similar to the Slits, Spend, Spend Spend or a homeless person who carries everything in a Shopping Cart, because that is the closest to a home for them? Hot Dog in a Hallway-Fat acceptance and the benefits of dating a plus size woman. Liza-the follow up to Liza and Louise. What happens when someone gets board and experiments with S&M, when they run out of thrills? Female empowerment, changing roles and relationship power dynamics? Love Story-A woman waiting for her husband who is having an affair. The suburban dream, a nightmare. A beautiful woman, dressed up and feeling disregarded. And my personal favorite The Black & White-A Closeted man, who can't tell his wife he's gay. The topic of feminists that take things too far like Andrea Dworkin, all the while acknowledging they have mental health issues from trauma, which leads to sexual repression and loss of sexual desire. The grey areas that exist between 2 extremes that people ignore. A loveless marriage where a man can't be openly gay, despite the fact his wife knows. People trapped in what they've created for themselves or what was created for them. The inserts and photos in the booklet are interesting too. Not Baaaaad at all. 🐑🐑🐑🐑
Impressionnant !
Question. As a jazz musician, I love me some Basie. But this album - does it (mainly, well, its name) have any correlation at all to the phrase/song/album "Baby One More Time," by Britney Spears? "Baby," "Basie," they just sound too similar for me, I can't help but wonder. Did one play words on another? Was "Baby One More Time" a common phrase before Spears' album? That's my guess. Prolly has some meaning among general humanity that I just don't get cause I stay inside all day. Or maybe this is just some random coincidence and I'm being too much. I don't know. Someone agree with me please.
I hated NOFX with all my heart and soul for years. My west coast wife pushed them on me. I’m 47 now. They are my all time favorites. Snarf snarf snarf Funk u I love u
It doesn’t escape me that fatty hates buisness men when he is the best buisnessman in punk That’s the only thing I’ve ever said negative about him, the ladder
