I did it a different way: 8*2=16, 25-16=9, 10-9=1, 1*4*100=400.

It's the 75 times table you need help with.

You don’t need to learn your times tables… I’m sure Rachel knows that if the difference between the sum of the hundreds and ones digits and the middle digit is either 0 or 11, the entire number is divisible by 11. That is, for 836, 8+6-3 = 11, therefore 836 is a multiple of 11.

Nice. I found another way that starts out the same but uses all the numbers: 10 + 9 = 19 19 x 3 = 57 50 + 57 = 107 107 x 9 = 963 963 - 1 = 962

There were times where I liked 4 large, but to be honest I've gone off them LOL I absolutely loathe 6 small rounds.

I was getting a little fed up of all the 4 large or 6 small as well tbh

And the guy who chose six small ones didn't get not even close to the target. Sometimes you don't get to it but we expect them to get real close.

I'm sure some choose those just to throw off their opponents. Just like when you are winning and choose 2 large numbers because they are easy.

See, I am no good at 4 large or 6 small, but I really like these selections being chosen as it makes it way more interesting than a bog-standard 1 large or 2 large.

Tuesday Countdown In the first round, I saw Rachel's solution, and I also had this one based on factoring: (17^2 x 3 = 867): 75 x 3 = 225 10 x 7 = 70 70 - 6 = 64 225 + 64 = 289 289 x 3 = 867 I tried coming up with 51 x 17, because of the 10 and 7 there, but there wasn't any way I could find to make that work. However, I also had these: 10 x 7 = 70 75 + 70 = 145 145 x 6 = 870 870 - 3 = 867 75 x 10 = 750 7 + 6 = 13 13 x 3 x 3 = 117 750 + 117 = 867 In the second round, the contestant was agnozingly close to the right answer. She would have had it if she had only done this: 75 + 9 = 84 84 x 8 = 672 672 + 100 = 772 8 - 7 = 1 772 + 1 = 773 And I also had the following related solutions: 100 + 7 = 107 107 x 8 = 856 856 - 75 - 8 = 773 9 - 7 = 2 8 - 2 = 6 100 + 6 = 106 106 x 8 = 848 848 - 75 = 773 In the third round, I had Rachel's solution. Thursday Countdown In the first round, I saw both contestants' solutions, but if you want a fancy solution you can do this: 50 - 6 = 44 100 x 44 = 4400 4400 - 75 = 4325 4325 / 25 = 173 Since 100 / 25 is 4 and 75 / 25 is 3, it's the equivalent of (50 - 6) x 4 - 3 = 173. Friday Countdown In the first numbers round, I had a few solutions for 915: 50 / 25 = 2 4 x 2 = 8 100 + 75 + 8 = 183 183 x 5 = 915 100 + 5 = 105 50 / 25 = 2 105 x 4 x 2 = 840 840 + 75 = 915 50 - 4 = 46 100 x 46 = 4600 4600 - 25 = 4575 4575 / 5 = 915 This last is based on the fact that 100 / 5 = 20 and 25 / 5 is 5, so it's the equivalent of (50 - 4) x 20 - 5 = 915. In the second round, I saw the contestants' solution, but if you wanted to use all of the numbers, you could do this: 100 + 25 = 125 125 - 5 = 120 120 x 4 = 480 480 + 10 + 9 = 499 There's not really any point in finding more solutions for such an easy target, though.
