The first episode of my short run on Countdown, first broadcast in March 2021. Colin Murray hosts alongside Rachel Riley and Susie Dent, whilst Tanni Grey-Thompson is in Dictionary Corner.
Uploaded now as RU-vid/Channel 4 now appear to be letting people upload more modern episodes of Countdown to the platform. Copyright remains with Channel 4.

american here. i like how comfy shows like this feel. very no-frills; not that competitive. just some folks doing smart things. while there was a US pilot for this show, the networks here would definitely want there to be some sort of edge to keep viewers hooked… except in this case, it'd immensely mess up the vibe of the format. 11 minutes into the episode, you're doing great so far!

Also an american, I suck at the math portion, I ace the word portion. I find the show enjoyable as hell, but I got to say a show about math would not work in the states. Some would love it, but most wouldn't. It just would not have the viewership which is a shame. I watch this on youtube and try to improve my math skills. I stand in awe watching Rachel Riley work.

Who would win if Rachel and Susie went head to head? Would pay good money.

In the maths round, there is only one winner. In the letter round, both teams can get points. I think this gives Rachel the advantage.

Clearly Suzy - Every now and then, there comes a trivial numbers game where rachel will be limited to a tie; but going for maximum letters is never trivial, hence: advantage Suzy
