Another one of CS's strengths is that it is a fantastic game to watch at a pro level. You don't nessacarily even need to play the game and you can enjoy CS.
Everything is easily understandable within CS matches. Valorant? Too much flashbang with different color and fire blast. Even worse than moba/StarCraft to watch, too much happenings per seconds. And also Valorant obs just lame.
For me It’s the movement that makes cs soooooo good. It’s literally perfect in every way. Like I tried playing valorant when it first came out and the fact you lose momentum mid air if you swap guns made me instantly uninstall and never touch it again.
The only bad thing I can say about CS, is that it's one of the reasons why competetive to the bone games overtook the industry, everything else is really damn good.
The ironic part here is that CS is not competitive to the bones itself. This is evident with Valorant release who did a great job copying competitive CS while missing the important bits.
Gotta love Valve, They make timeless classics that are still popular today that a potato PC can run, even left4dead and half life is on sale for $2 every now and then, they release the steam deck for literally no profit on their end apart from people buying games for it within their store, and with these free to play games its down to the individuals to decide how much they want to give to get a unique skin, they are geniuses not looking to rip someone off but in the process make millions a month doing so.
that’s definitely one of their biggest strengths, that almost anyone with a computer can play their games. very easy to access. really shows that fancy graphics will always lose to amazing game design
@@kel_ski yeah, but I wish turtle rock studio would stop using the “we made L4D series” as a part of their marketing. I think valve did most of the work.
Just to clarify some points: - GAME SEQUELS - I don’t think all sequels are bad! I know some amazing games are sequels. I was more pointing out that the more a sequel changes, the more it develops fanbases to certain styles, regardless of if the game is good or bad. Misuse of the word “usually” since it’s more common for good sequels to come out :^) A sequel, IMO, should always BUILD on the original game, rather than changing the formula entirely. I feel quite a lot of franchises struggle with this idea, and instead opt to change more than add - MOVEMENT SHOOTERS - I’m also not saying all movement shooters are bad, I love movement shooters! Titanfall 2 is a game I plan on covering soon. What I do hate though, is that most modern FPS games cram in these “movement mechanics” just because everyone else is doing it. If you’re going to be a movement shooter, just be a movement shooter. It’s weird to me that most FPS titles coming out are doing this. It makes them all feel “samey” Hope that helps, thanks for watching everyone 🤝
I don't think the smoke change will harm the game in the longterm, maybe the players can get frustrated in the beginning with the change, those who have played it have welcomed the change. It is here to stay and it is such an insane feat that the community will come to love it by themselves even if they were to hate it in the beginning.
One thing that makes Counter Strike more fun is that learning the mechanics will reward you a lot. If you learn how to only headshot people(which fps players refuse to do nowadays) you will be rewarded with being a killing machine. You can later bring this skill into other fps games
I am a proud Valve dick rider and when all my friends make fun of me for playing Team Fortress 2 in 2023 and Counter-Strike instead of Valorant I will always stand proud and defend my decisions. And in all honesty a few months back we had the conversation of Valorant vs CSGO and I told to my friend the EXACT phrase you said in the video. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I simply do not care if the game hasn't been updated in 2 years BECAUSE it is still fun! Very nice video man, you completely speak for me in these "... will never die" videos!
Same, pulled a friend who's been very strongly dick riding every modern title with PC melting graphics into a wonderful adventure through Valve titles like L4D2, CS:GO, Portal 2's coop and TF2 only to see him a week later racking up hours on each one of these.
great video man, awesome pacing, everything felt like it added to the video, it was a good mix of funny and informative content, it's just great. Honestly surprised you have less than 100k, you should be closer to that 500k+. Keep going !
You touched on it briefly but another overlooked feature of CS is mods and the modding community. SDK's, mods and map creators are a huge factor in making games timeless. Part of the reason why games like warcraft 3 and minecraft have so much longevity is because they also offer endless experiences (through mods) ontop of a game that stands on its own two feet.
I like that the skins and maps are made by the community since it involves the community in ways other games can dream of. We vote for our favorites and then they might get into the game. Personally I really like making maps and skins for the game, there is even the possibility to earn money from it. Something that Valorant will never even come close to. The economy of the skins market is really unique and has probably helped the game a lot.
you will have haters that keep saying "but valve bought these studio's they never actually developed any of these games" even though they made half life revolutionized the industry and they keep making the right choices. they also have god tier coders that turn great ideas into god tier end results. F the haters!
One thing with CS:2 that got overlooked is in one of their trailers they mentioned that modding and mapping will be easier in the new editor. One thing that was overlooked in CS:GO was actual decent modding (Compared to 1.6 & Source). So I feel like community servers will be even more popular and the potential for custom maps will be even higher and I can't wait for what the community will cook up!
The movement can be so diverse in cs. You can be a counter strafing maniac or a kz god pulling off ridiculous jumps and shots. Completely different feel for both.
As someone who has played this game since I was around 13 years old (I’m 21 as of posting this), I can say this game has never gotten old to me. The movement is crisp and satisfying to get right and so is the gunplay!! It sucks when people say they don’t enjoy it because it’s hard because they just add to the idea that most modern games hold your hand too much to the point of being insulting. The game requires you to think carefully with your every move and rewards you for good plays instead of just letting you turn your brain off. The games are amazing and are the sole reason I play so many tactical shooters now!! CS2 is gonna take this industry by storm when it officially comes out of beta and into the public’s hands!!
thanks for the video. i played csgo just a few minutes ago, and despite the fact that i lost every round i still wanna play it. its kinda funny how after a question i asked myself "why do i still love this game?" a video comes out with just the right answer.
honestly it’s one of the few games where failure just purely makes me want to keep playing to get better, rather than rage because they pulled some BS lol
I love the community made content, I think it has kept the game alive and well for those of us who sink a lot of time in. A lot of content creators are well known by higher level CS players, and to see their stuff get put into the game really makes it feel like OUR game. I will say also for almost 20 years, I have seen the closure of so many FPS games. One of my favorites being A.V.A (Which recently did get a reboot) but it's just not the same. The thing with CS, if you want to go play 1.6 or Source, you still can, they are community driven. (TF2 also is mostly community driven, the valve game that refuses to die). The community keeps this game alive and so long as that remains true even for CS:2 then this game is staying for another decade or more.
I just wanna say that i share your enthusiasm about these games. Its incredible how each of these Valve games are so unique and yet so genius in their own way. Im guessing you also played Portal, but im also guessing it doesn't really fit in the "will NEVER die" series 😂 Also. If you dont like MOBAs and avoided playing Dota... im just here to say... it really is that good. It has the same "IT" factor that seperates CS and TF2 from mortal games, but it also has the pull of craçk coçaine addiction. Money is not the only reason why its Valves favorite child, even tho they have so many genre defining fps games under their belt.
Great video! CS has been a favourite of mine since I first played source in 05. The one thing I'd love to see is for community servers to grow in popularity again. Back in source there was no match making, you had to use the server browser and often you'd find a gem. CSGO had some gems for a while but now I can't find anything beyond russian servers claiming to host ever game mode at once. It'd be cool if CS2 got a boost to community servers but I doubt it, especially with the need to compete with games like valorant.
Yet ANOTHER banger in the "Never die" series. I think the new smoke physics are cool and hate for it will mostly be a vocal minority. Some people will be mad for Valve changing anything at all and others will dick ride it without acknowledging any cons it has, but only time can really tell. Despite that, CS:2 has already made improvements that everyone will love regardless, so theres no doubt this may have even more longevity than CS could ever have. Tl;dr: Smoke cool game good.
honestly i’m really excited about all the new changes and quality of life updates! i heard from someone that CSGO’s original game code is a mess, so they made CS2 from the ground up to make future development easier. i hope this is the start of a new Valve wave!
all I ever care about in these kinds of games is 2 things: - does it turn a mid-range PC into a nuclear oven - can you have casual fun with the homies that you totally have and not sweat your balls off over virtual rankings and _The Meta_ of the game
i'm a huge cs fan who have played cs:cz, cs:s and cs:go and i keep coming back and it will be the same for CS2, new content or not, changes like this doesn't change how we love cs i believe. Thanks daddy Valve
Awesome vid Kelski! Here’s 1 criticism though: I disagree with the idea that sequels hurt franchises more than help them. Here are some examples: Modern Warfare 2 Black Ops Black Ops II Horizon Forbidden West Halo 2 Halo 3 State of Decay 2 (I’ll ask the writing is bad and facial animations are almost nonexistent, but the experience of surviving in a zombie apocalypse is massively enhanced) Dead Rising 2
i don’t think all sequels hurt games! i feel like sequels back in the day, such as the games you listed, had tons of love. newer sequels however… some are questionable lol
Will say that there have actually been 2 guns added to CS:GO, the MP5-SD and Revolver, so I guess there have been a few """big""" changes. The revolver was definitely controversial when it was released due to poor balancing, but it got nerfed and now everything is basically the same. Video is great, and the weapons added don't really invalidate anything said. Keep up the great work!
@@raizenxdd usp-s and M4a1-s were in previous games, just took a while to be added. The CZ75 i completely forgot about, but yeah that is also a new addition, ty for reminding me.
Playing this game since 1999 with it's second beta mod (I think can't remember the version but the AWP still had a crosshair at that point). So it literally been with me for 24 years now. This shit ain't gonna die ever and I won't be surprised if it outlives me.
I only have 17 hours on CS, and somehow, I was MVP 5 times, in a match. I guess it's from the experience from source games life Tf2, but I doubt that. Can't wait for SC:2! And I can't wait for the next Kelski video, of course!
Banger video! I love play Counter Strike: source, but I can recognize how influential csgo is. But I gotta ask, will you be doing videos on other valve games? Ex: Half-life series?
It's games like this and siege that give me reason to play video games, it doesn't necessarily feel lazy, because I'm learning every day ,training for hours every day, learning utilities, positions, peaks, crosshair control, it makes me feel like it's fun while also being extremely difficult, just like having a favorite class in school, it's still school but the passion for it makes you want to do good. TLDR: CSGO is fun, get it when you can
@@kel_ski technically half life is a story game and cannot die really but sure if you do mind as well talk about portal and why both games affected the gaming community
Also Valve games are absolute gigachads, except of course (Artifacts but we do not talk about it here) there is always an option to just go nuts and have fun or be ultra serious in your own way.
I’ve never seen someone make a video essay on how good cs is while being so shit at the game. I mean, I completely forgot that you can casually enjoy this game without being a 3k hour virgin global like me. Great video man.
Games nowadays update too fast. Coming back to valorant after a few months you get new maps, heroes and a bunch of shit that totally changes the gsme. Its impossible to master. Imagine if chess got frequent updates.
The smoke changes I feel people will hate but it will over time be welcomed as people get used to it. I see it not as valve adding a random mechanic, I see them trying to change the game and make something fresh without ruining it. This is the biggest leap they have taken in a while but I feel it is a necessary one to keep CS Alive. I personally can't wait to see the new smokes and graphics change how Comp CS is played.
@@Alphawolf-d2k Yes, it is massive. But i was refering simply to the issues of the game and the little amount of content we've gotten since release. Those are the points of his that didnt age well
@@Alphawolf-d2k I have played CS for over 10000 hours, i love the game to death and i always come back. The issues will be fixed.. I know for sure.. Yea
The one thing I don't like is that CS2 is permanently replacing CSGO. I have a lot of fond memories with CSGO and would really like to be able to still play it as it is. I still play 1.6 and Source occasionally for the nostalgia, idk why CSGO has to go.
Bro your editing & analysis was top tier 😂💪 earned a sub thank you for the laugh. Valve locked my account for sharing a “sus link” when I posted my twitch link in a community comment section.
Started playing CSGO day 1 back in Hs, long story short, I stopped playing until this year and man it holds up still. Nothing will beat this FPS imo.. so excited for CS2
Also CS:GO skins, the market, all the finance about it, people earning ABSOLUTE money from the game. CS:GO is not just an awesome game. It is a fucking different world.
Half-Life was bascially the first open source online multiplayer game. That helped spawn CS, TFC (TF2), and so many more fun mods, some of which still survive to this day. Ohh you want to play more CS maps? Just join a server that has one and it'll automatically download to your map library. No paying for DLC needed.
For me Its knowing i can always stop forawhile and come back without relearning so much with new updates, new weapons etc. Its simple but skills ❤❤ Also yes love its clean . No signs or over the top sound when getting a kill. More focus on playing.
