On the contrary. Allows us to keep width but frees up our most creative players to venture inside and play in the half spaces, where they both excel. Cry plays better when he has the option to go left or right. There were times last season where he only had the option to cut in and doubling up on him shuts that down immediately. Give him a bit of freedom. No one is saying he can't pull out wide and Firpo underlap or vice versa. It adds to our attacking options rather than diminishing them.

Allows people like Struijk to break the line more whilst having cover, gives us the width from our wing backs while freeing up Cry and Rutter to be more involved in the half spaces where they both excel. Also offers us the chance to have more variation in our attacking formations as we could play two up top or two 10s and a 9. Along with the added benefit of suring us up defensively. Seems like a good move which will accommodate our best players playing and in their best positions.

@ryanthomas8185 👍 having a back 3 in build up is the modern way and agree with everything you say. However, I much prefer the starting formation to be 4231 which turns into a 3241 (see ipswich last year). One full back hugs the touch line and the winger on that side comes into the half space to make a box midfield. The other full back comes into make the back 3 and the winger on that side hugs the touch line. It allows you to keep the same amount of attacking players in the team whilst transitioning between a back 3 and back 4.

@brendanvaughan1410 would be a tad hesitant about Firpo covering in as a CB when we attack down the right, less so with Bogle. I mean, I'm not against us having plenty of variation in our tactics, but I think back three would be beneficial for the players we have. DF's lack of versatility was a sticking point for us at times last season. Teams that set up a low block really managed to shut us down and we had no answers as the tactics were predictable. Whatever happens this season formation wise, we definitely need to instil some versatility in our game to become less predictable.

That’s fair, I agree. So 9 players for 3 positions is exposing an unbalanced squad, with lots of options I suppose but the boys talking about buying another is a bit nonsensical. Firpo & bogle really only have Byram as backup, wober at a stretch too.

True, but I'm pretty sure gnonto and cree will be sold. Also if we play 3 cbs we need to buy more of them. Pascal is made of glass bless him.

@@YorkshireYobbo very true. He’ll use ampadu there unfortunately, rather he stayed in CM. But a backup L&RB is needed either way whether you’re going 343 or 4231. If Cree/Willi go then do you replace or stick with the remaining 7 players for those 3 positions. If replacing, at the very least, Gelhardt needs to go somewhere for some football on loan or perm.

Had a 15% conversion rate last season. Pretty poor is that tbf mate. 22% and above generally considered good, so he's miles off it.

Piroe wouldn't go to blackburn, and blackburn wouldn't be able to pay for Piroe's wage.

I think he's an CAM rather than ST so maybe that's why they didn't mention him.

Don’t mind him. Except when he gets sweary, then I turn him off. He’s a stalwart of the watch along. Put in the hours for us.

​@@Snowy0510 Because I'm curious as to why it's included? Connor gets likes from me on every video and I've been subscribed for a long time, I'm not going to thank every youtuber I subscribe to for every video they release. If it's because for example his stream clips software spits out the file with the first 2 mins and RU-vid doesn't auto trim it, causing it to be a hassle that would require further editing that's understandable. But it IS a pain to have to skip it every video. Constructive criticism drives improvement, Connor will understand this? I doubt he'd want to sit in a fanboy echo chamber forever, but go off on your positivity crusade I guess.
