Counterprotest remains peaceful as pro-Israel group marches near encampment on UW campus

There seemed to be no physical violence as a pro-Israel counterprotest on the University of Washington (UW) campus marched near the pro-Palestinian encampment at the Quad Sunday afternoon.
The pro-Palestinian encampment has been at the Quad since late April. The number of tents has grown since then and the demonstration has become larger.
University officials placed barricades around the Quad in order to dissuade opposing groups from engaging with one another.

Im confused, why don’t they just peacefully protest next to other peaceful protestors. Why are the pro Israeli protestors demanding that the encampment be removed?

Because it's a university not a public park. And because the majority of the pro-Hamas protestors aren't even students, they are outsiders. And because Jewish students need to feel safe. And if they don't like how the university has chosen to invest their money, withdraw from that school and find one that matches your ideology. They aren't forced to spend their tuition money there. But others who are paying gobs of money deserve to be able to get to class and have an uninterrupted graduation ceremony. Why do students think they have a say in how the university is run? You're not forced to attend there.

@@veritatemdicam4585 if pro Israeli Jewish students feel unsafe it’s because of the Israeli Palestinian conflict not because of tents, even if they weren’t camping in the quad I don’t think any Jewish students (pro Israeli or not) saw what was happening over the last six months and didn’t expect there to be conflict. Also, universities are funded by the public and students invest the money in those institutions with the expectations that those institutions will change their policies as political issues challenge them, alumni do the same thing (they challenge university leadership when they fail to respond to a political situation in a way that they think reflects the values of the school they invested in). Student bodies are not democratic institutions so the ideas that someone political ideas are ruining other people’s graduation isn’t the issue, students and alumni are part of a university and they have tied the value of their degree to the actions of that institution, even if they could transfer they are trying to transfer with credits from a school that they feel isn’t reflecting values that other institutions would commend them for. Why do you think it so hard to transfer from Liberty university into the ivy leagues? Because that school has a horrible reputation because of it political positions.

@@veritatemdicam4585 you can’t prove they aren’t all students, students bodies are not democratic so to push university leadership you have to peacefully lobby them like they are doing, and as students the credits they have are an investment (even if they did transfer, the university makes that more difficult with their bad political politices) Also, don’t call them pro Hamas (you not that just encourages violence against peaceful protestors)
