I don’t normally wax nostalgic on the internet for strangers, but everyone ever has songs that they hear that gives them goosebumps immediately, no matter how frequently or under what conditions they hear it. This is one for me.
Well I guess you left me with some feathers in my hand, Did it make it any easier to leave me where I stand? I guess there might not be too many, Who would stand beside you now, Where'd you come from? Where am I going? Why'd you leave me 'til I'm only good for. Waiting for you, all my sins, I said that I would pay for them, If I could come back to you, All my innocence is wasted on, The dead and dreaming. Every night these silhouettes appear above my head, Little angels of the silences that climb into my bed and whisper, Every time I fall asleep, every time I dream, Did you come? Would you lie? Why'd you leave us 'til we're only good for. Waiting for you, all my sins, I said that I would pay for them, If I could come back to you, All my innocence is wasted on, The dead and dreaming. I dream of Michelangelo when I'm lying in my bed, Little angels hang above my head and read me like an open book, And suck my blood, break my nerve, offer me their arms, Well I will not be an enemy of anything, I'll only stand here. Waiting for you, all my sins, I said that I would pay for them, If I could come back to you, All my innocence is wasted on, The dead and dreaming. I'm gone, I'm gone, I believe today I'm gone I'm gone, I'm gone, take me away, I'm gone I'm gone, I'm gone, gotta leave today I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gone I'm gone
Damn didn't know how good we had it......I remember driving out to a lake, smoking a J with friends and disappearing into an endless summer with rockin jams like this.....and being young, 20s!
The director of this (Josh Taft) has a knack for directing some excellent live performance videos--he also did Pearl Jam's Alive and Even Flow and Live's White, Discussion. Talented guy!
i remember when this music video debuted on MTV i was both shocked & in awe at the same time (August and Everything After is one of the best debuts of the 90’s) Recovering The Satellites is damn near in the league of the freshman album.... The 1990’s as a whole was as impressive as the 1980’s having such a massive amount of music acts/artist trying to make a name for themselves! I’d go as far as saying both Counting Crows & Gin Blossoms are two of the most important bands of the 90’s they are the soundtracks of my generation! 🤘👍🤘
Aw, dude! I just thought of Gin Blossom while was reading your comment! Great band also! I can’t understand why this two incredible bands not recognised as they need
+Joseph m It's underrated when the local college and indie rock stations only played their songs "Mr. Jones" and "Hanging Around" all the time in the 90's. It's an insult to Counting Crows for radio stations to neglect playing any songs from "Recovering the Satellites" just because it was heavier than their radio friendly hoopla.
I love Metal music today because of this song. I remember listening to it when i was 12 and it was my starting point to go to heavier things that i could never imagine that were so great! It all starts here...

Probably their best single. They had some other great ones ("Round Here," for example) but those were usually too soft. This one actually had some gumption. Almost pop punkish.
My ex boyfriend sent this song to me. He thought I wasn't speaking to him. I had just left my phone at work over the weekend and couldn't get it till Monday.
A little random I know but I don't know who was responsible for the micing, EQ, and just overall production of the percussion of this album, but to me it is still the gold standard of the sound I try to master.
This actually makes me sad...some garbage pop song has over a billion views and this has 1.5 million. Oh well, at least I got to enjoy this in the moment back in the 90s.
This is basically as metal as CC got. 😂. J/k I love these guys ❤ been with me my whole life. Pulled me outta some shit, that’s for sure. Thanks Adam, Daves(both), Charlie, Ben..um everyone! ❤❤❤
Just love American music ......and it just doesn't get any better than this baby !!!!!.....superb song great group !!......God bless b kind to each other ❤ love animals ❤ and yourself ❤ 😇😊🥰
Watch this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V2wGLgnFg6Y.html this is live so you know Beyoncé isn’t auto tuned. Also you should check out a star is born if you haven’t already seen it, GaGa is amazing.
I've been listening to the Dashboard Confessional cover on my MP3 player for the past 8 years. I knew it was originally a Counting Crows song but I had never heard it. Yeah, this is definitely better. The Dashboard Confessional track works too but in a different way.
This song will always take me back to the year I had my heart broken and put the experience behind me by moving 2000 miles from the suburbs of Chicago to Oregon. Best thing I ever did.
Probably the best music video. Each shot, one by one combine perfect picture. Don't mention the music which is far beyond being perfect tune.!!! Thanks
@royalsteven well said, most underated band ever? any budding guitarists out there buy one of these albums and learn how to play a good tune... nuff said.
@cedric11100 I love the guitar solos that are so melodic and harmonious that dont need any thrash or sweep picking and all that crazy shit. always good to hear a great solo on such a great song
I'm spanish speaking person and I love counting crowds music, but their videos are so poor for that kind of beautiful music and my favorite is Mr. jones but angels of silent is really magistral
I only know this song because a old hardcore band called stretch Armstrong covered it. And dashboard confessional did an acoustic cover of it. But after hearing both covers and coming to listen to the original, I must say that neither cover holds a candle to this version. This is a lot more rocking than I expected from counting crows.
I was born in the 80s. I knew other mainstream songs from Counting Crows but only heard this one for the first time today. I’m gonna tell you that I feel like I’m a teenager all over again. 😭💙 Such a beautiful song! It’s on repeat now so I can make up for lost time having never heard it before. 🎊
