Quick Fast Free Counting, Sorting and Inspecting Pistol Brass for loading on my Dillon xl 650 press. Easily find 380 Auto brass hidden in 9mm brass. Also 40 S&W and 45 ACP cases stand out nicely. Discarded ammo trays from factory ammo is all that is required.
I'm able to quickly count out and load a nice even number of 9mm shell cases then toss them in the hopper of my press. If I want to load 500 9mm rounds for the evening, I quickly count and inspect 500 brass cases and load five primer tubes. The last primer matches the last piece of brass!
The best part is I never get any 380 brass mixed in with my 9mm.
The ammo trays used in the video are from factory Blazer 40 S&W packages.

Excellent idea. After loading for 15 years I've never thought of this.

Thanks so much for sharing this. It is so simple that it's almost impossible to believe. I used a Dillon, 100 round plastic ammo storage box that the hinge crack off on and am in awe with how fast and easy this works. Have already shared this with a couple friends and their thoughts are exactly the same. Thanks again for this GREAT time saving tip.

Before I started to reload again I threw away hundreds of those trays. Just bought some off eBay because of your video. Great idea and real pro video. Excellent job!!!

Thanks for sharing this. Thats great way to sort 380 from 9mm which is really a pain when the eyes are getting old like mine are starting to.

Excellent Tip! I'm going to have to look in the garbage next time for some 40/45 trays to do this.

Thanks for the good idea on how to speed up the sorting process. I love low cost alternate ways to get things done efficiently. Beats spending close to $40 for the separating bucket system and it is way easier store.

I loved this idea. Works really well especially since I reload mostly 380 and 9mm. Thanks bunches.

I save everything....don't know why, but the moment I throw something away, I need it. Well, I'm glad I decided to keep those trays, even though I wasn't sure what to do with them. They also make great risers (for painting/varnishing), combined with those steel cased shells that I for some reason save too. Great tip!

Of course now i find this video, After spending 10 hours sorting 10,000rds of brass. 9mm. .40, and .45 with .380 and .38. I wish i would've seen this sooner. Oh well. Will still work great for last inspection before the reloader.

This works fantastic to eliminate 380. I just eyeball them. They stand out or in.... I use two trays, flip it over and inspect both sides and all the edges for splits. Use the 40 cal trays.

Damn. Awesome. I was wondering how to deal with that. Does that work with a reloaded round once full or does the bullet weight makes them fall upside down?

Certainly faster than my method of using my weak old eyes and holding each case. I'll give that a try!

That looks almost like magic. Is it much more difficult with a tray from the same cartridge?
@MarcusBuilt
@MarcusBuilt 8 лет назад
+FieroGT42 I've found that a size up from the caliber you're working with lets the brass fall into the tray much better.

@MarcusBuilt

+N Stiv Just something I picked up at Staples or Office Max. Basically whatever was on sale. LED lights with a magnifying glass in the middle mounted to an articulating arm.
