Similar method on a DILLON 550. But I wet tumble twice one to remove the carbon fouling as I use TITE-GROUP powder, I allow it to dry run it through the depriming/ resizing. Then wet tumble again cleaning primer pockets alow to dry then reload.

What model press are you using. I have a Lee Turret Classic press which I like, but I am thinking of moving up. I basically reload 360 ACP and 9mm. Since I now live in the state of Nevada close to a lot of open desert, I find myself shooting more, so changing to a faster press would be something I would like to consider. Thanks for the posting the video.

Not sure about running dirty brass through the machine for the first stage 🤔 Does your sizing die have a pin to clear the polishing media out of the primer pocket?

im researching as a beginner to what equipment i need for reloading 9mm. I think im going for the single stage press as i only shoot 100 -200 rounds per week and dont mind the longer manual process. I noticed you didnt trim the cases ? is that needed ?
@markfung5654
@markfung5654 5 лет назад
9mmP brass tends to shrink with use. You're more likely to have the brass split or lost before the length goes out of spec.
@aussiereloader3902
@aussiereloader3902 5 лет назад
Hey Zappa, i trim every 3-4 reloads and only if it needs it. Glad you asked and in hindsight i should have included that in the video. I do measure the cases with vernier calipers before loading and a case gauge after loading. I shoot glocks and their tolerances are more forgiving compared to other pistols.

When you case lube. it's best to spray the case lube into a one gallon zip freezer bag then dump in the brass and shake well.. Not any of the case lube will get inside of the case that way... Just something I found out..

@@aussiereloader3902 WOW no you measure your brass making sure it meets the specs of your manual and what maul says it measurments said be. Just when you seat your bullets how deep they need to be. If you do what AussieReLoader just said you wast your primer you wast your powder you was bullet you wast time reloading it, You take the chance of a major major malfunction at the range which could be, gun jam, stove pipe, gun firing primer and igniting powder and getting jammed and gun blowing up in your face. Please Please ALWAYS MEASURE YOUR BRASS AND DEPTH OF YOUR SEATING BULLET once your seating is of bullet is set your good to go u should not have to measure again your brass should be good for 1 up 2 to 3 firings up to that start measing i measure after 3 just because i am safe, safety first always. Buy nice caliper which I have or also I have a Case Cage which you just drop your loaded round in and if it drops in and fits perfect your good to go I love this set up. I hope this helps you.

I usually expect to average 8-9 reloads on my semi auto brass and 12-14 reloads on my revolver brass. The diff being damage and losses for semi brass. This is after collecting the brass from firing new ammo in my gun. I also use range pickup brass and would estimate it gives me 6 reloads on semi auto and 12-14 on revolver brass. The trouble with range pickup is it could be someone's reloads that he has shot 5 times but if it's revolver brass it's left by someone that doesn't reload. I mark my brass so have tracked it in the past and this is my experience in my combination of guns. I do not load specific brass for a specific gun ie I shoot my 38s in all 3 of my 357 guns. 9mm reloads go in all 6 of my 9mm handguns and 1 carbine.

Question: I have been reloading for several years, but have been unable to find an answer. My Hornady book calls for a COL of 1.1 inches, using 115 gr. RN bullets. Every factory load I have measured, regardless of brand, with 115 gr. RN bullets, has a COL of 1.15 to 1.16 inches. Why?
@aussiereloader3902
@aussiereloader3902 5 лет назад
Probably have to ask Hornady that question to get a definitive answer so don't quote me but from what I understand is different bullet brand to bullet brand the COL varies. What it is written in the book is often the deepest (Maximum) you want to seat them, obviously the deeper you go the higher pressures get and vise versa. Bullet shapes are not the same even regardless of weight. Most round nose (RN) 9mm will run better just shy of that, around 1.135". Although some say running 115g FMJRN between 1.155-1.160 works fine and have had no issues. I would continue making rounds that work for your pistol(s) with the COL that would chamber and fit in your magazine. Books are just a guide, the data probably will only work with their exact components/products. But regardless I would still check for functionality in your own gun. Hope that helps.

You should Always refer to the specs for the Brand and Type of projectiles you are loading. With Factory loads you don't know what primers powders or exact projectiles they used for them. Different projectile brands and styles can be different in outside diameter and are definitely different in length!! Hope this helps 🤓👌

I'm pretty sure the title says "quick guide". I think it's just a general idea of what to expect when reloading your ammunition. This was perfect for me because it showed me that the barrier for entry with reloading ammo is fairly low. It showed me the general process of how to use a hornady press, and some of the tools I would need to get going. You should always read and follow the instructions with the loading manuals and get your info from multiple sources.

Of course nothing for my time and not amortizing my $2000 for my equipment. With my Dillon if I work at it I can produce 500 rounds in an hour.
