The name comes from the fact that the netherlands is below sea level. 'Nether' means below. Also the name of the Nether in minecraft is based on that, since the idea in minecraft is that the Nether lives below the overworld
@@pork_hunt420 Nope.. Dutchies also invented the CD... and the reason we can watch the clock today... is because the Dutch invented the first Pendulum clock as well.
The Netherlands has thousands on thousands of inventions and technologies that have shaped the world in the past, the present and will continue into the future

@@LalaDepala00 I am not going to fact check the first one, sounds neat and I vaguely remember something about it. But Capitalism WAS NOT BORN in the Netherlands. Capitalism is an idea that existed long before the Netherlands was even a thing. Don't get me wrong, The Netherlands created pretty much the first stock market (that we know of), but we didn't create capitalism. Also, it's "funny" how OP still has not tried to validate his claim of "thousands upon thousands of inventions".
@@LalaDepala00 it literally wasn't born in The Netherlands. We had capitalstic behaviour and ideas, long before The Netherlands existed. Also, that's a terrible argument. Just saying x literally comes from the x language word. Is a very, very dumb argument.
@@thxmn9671 nope, it was the swedish company Ericsson, there was a dutch person working on the project though so thats why you might think it was the dutch
@@einar8019Dr Haartsen did indeed work for Ericsson and was asked to develop a short-link radio technology for which he received the European Inventor Award in 1990. So the technology is created by a Dutchman, the idea was put forward by the company which in turn was inspired by the work of Austrian Hollywood actress Hedy Lamarr. Who would you name as the inventor: the one who came up with the idea/theory, the one who owned it or the one who designed it?
@Vesslan it was created by a Dutch guy called "Jaap C. Haartsen" and later it was named by two guys from Sweden after the king that lived in Denmark named "blåtand" which translates into Bluetooth.

Dont forgot dikes, which protects the netherlands from the sea, since the netherlands is pretty low. Without dikes the netherlands would probably almost be completely gone by now. The netherlands has also helped other countries protect themselves from the sea
While there is evidence that the principals of telescopes were known in the late 16th century, the first telescopes were created in the Netherlands in 1608. Spectacle makers Hans Lippershey & Zacharias Janssen and Jacob Metius independently created telescopes.

Speed Camera: "I SAVE PEOPLES LIVES" Fun Fact: In some places in the world, Governments have removed speed cameras as the the toll for speeding was too high, and after, speeding deaths decreased
Why would Danes be angry? Bluetooth isn't a Danish invention. The only connection Bluetooth has with Denmark is the name being inspired by the second king of Denmark. It's actually a Swedish invention. Invented and developed by the telecom company Ericsson in Lund.
Not really, yes Jaap Haartsen played a major roll in the development of Bluetooth. But it was not his idea to develop it and he did not do it alone. Nils Rydbeck, CTO of Ericsson, tasked Jaap Haartsen and Sven Mattisson with developing Bluetooth. The team grew larger and exactly how many people that worked on Bluetooth is unknown afaik. The project leader of Bluetooth development was Örjan Johansson. Also, let me ask you this. Would you say that Steve Jobs invented the iPhone? Even though he did literally no development work? All Steve Jobs did was tell a team at Apple to develop the iPhone. So if Steve Jobs invented the iPhone then Nils Rydbeck invented Bluetooth.
@@MiniDemonic Lol, you ask me the question, yet you assume my answer? And obviously with things like this there is a team involved. It seems though that people such as Mattisson are getting the short end of the stick, as per usual, seeing how most of the credit goes to Haartsen.
