Also population density of Saudi Arabia doesn't make sense, because except west coast, rest of country is terrible for living but because of oil they have made cities like Riyadh and Dammam. Which you can see blue dots on middle of nowhere

The centre of Australia is much more than 1000km from the coast. For example, it takes 3 1/2 hours to fly from Sydney to Uluru (formerly known as Ayers Rock). As for the town of Alice Springs, the closest coastal capital cities are Darwin and Adelaide - 1500km north and south respectively. Australia is much bigger than people think!

Some more entries: Cameroon, the highest population density is found in the rural Mandara mountains, quite far away from the next town called Maroua. The capital Yaounde is located in the middle of a jungle with no major cities nearby. There are only a few villages along the road to the second biggest city Douala. Namibia, quite similar, the only region with high population density is a tiny speck of land near the Angolian border. All other regions are almost empty, so is also the area around the capital of Windhoek. The long Atlantic coast is nearly uninhabitated. Mongolia. Almost half of the country's population lives in the capital Ulaanbaatar which is situated in a rather unfortunate location in a narrow and elevated valley, experiencing harsh temperatures and a lot of air pollutionin winter as exhaust fumes can't escape the valley floor.

In Argentina, Peru and Chile a third part of the entire country's population lives in the most populated metropolitan area (being all of them their respective capitals). Sounds extreme? You could've also talked about: - The USA. Did you know that if you drew a line straight through mainland USA with the two sides each having 50% of the country's land area, you'll see that about 80% of the population would live on the east side of the line. This is mainly because the east side is mostly flat and has more agriculture than the west side which consists of a lot of harsh deserts and mountains. - Canada. Just like Australia, Canada is an enormous country but with a very small population density. Canada itself is bigger in size than the USA but has a smaller population than Spain. Most people in the country live near the US border. In fact, about half of Canada's population lives in the area between the cities of Windsor (opposite of the border from Detroit) and Quebec City. The main reason why almost all of Canada's population lives close to the US border is because of Canada's harsh cold environment in the northern part of the country. - Russia. Russia's land is very different from two different sides. The two sides are separated by the Ural mountains. West of the urals is the European part of Russia and west of the urals is the Asian part of Russia. Asian part is also called Siberia. Despite Siberia taking up about 75% of Russia's landmass, 75% of Russia's population lives in the European part of the country. This is because the European part has a much milder climate and its land is more fertile than in Siberia. Siberia is like northern Canada, it has a very cold and harsh climate making it difficult to live there for a lot of people. For example, the coldest city in Siberia, called Yakutsk, generally reaches about -50C (or -58F) on a normal day in the month of January.

The one about South America too that wasn't really mentioned is the undiscovered/undescribed/uncontacted (undecribed sounds a bit harsh but in the science world there's loads of undescribed species) tribes of people living in the Amazon and just South American in general if we are honest with ourselves that don't even know about the world around them and that's crazy to me. Honestly, because we don't know about them there could realistically be millions of people there that we don't even know their existence of because the known world of people fear the jungle and they really don't explore it and I think that's a huge anomaly in and of itself. Otherwise, I found this to be a very informative video and it definitely adds some places that I would love to visit, call me crazy but I want to visit the middle of Australia because there's a ton of different species of animals and plants that I would love to see that are only found there. Iceland would be cool too.

Actually though. Sometimes places where not many people live are nicer, because only a few people know how to make it work and can therefore have it all to themselves. Places where a lot of people live, are actually often pretty rough. Because people are fighting for resources and need better infrastructure to achieve the same quality of life as in a less dense place with less.

At 4:53, that information is actually incorrect. China is currently the most populated country as of 2023, and it was confirmed by the CIA website that China has a couple crore more people than India. I am extremely surprised you haven’t mentioned Japan because Japan has a population density that is at least 10 times stranger than China’s density. Over 1 in 3 people of the entire Japanese population lives in only one city in Japan, and 1/3 of the entire GDP of Japan is located in only one city of the hundreds of cities that Japan has. Nearly half of the entire population of Japan lives in only a couple of cities. Japan has one of the most, if not the most, unevenly distributed populations.

actually, considering China is authoritative state and one party dictatorship, just like Soviet Union was for example, both demographic and economic data reported by Chinese govt are increasingly considered man- made( as even Chinese own top officials admitted on camera few times) and significantly inflated so the chances are India was the most populous country for quite a few years already.

@katherinegilks3880

I mean, they are great places to live if you want to farm, fish, ranch, or do any other type of resource-based work. They may have fewer services, but many services do not need to be accessed frequently. They may have fewer options for services, but that's one of the trade-offs. Lots of rural people are happy to eat at one of two restaurants, shop at one store, go to one place for entertainment, and have one community hub. With globalisation and technology, people can watch entertainment at home from anywhere and order products online. Depending on how close an area is to a more urban region, more services and amenities are within a short commute. The biggest issues are healthcare and emergency services. Also, to a Londoner, just about anywhere in Canada is "rural" except for the cores of our three biggest cities. The difference between urban and rural (and suburban, which is between the two and arguably the category that most populated areas fit into) is highly subjective. There isn't anything morally wrong with liking rural life or urban life, nor having a bias toward one or the other. However, it is not very conducive to an educational channel like this to be so dismissive of rural areas. While he might think that the majority of his viewers are urbanites, many of them are not. Intentionally insulting a minority of viewers just for giggles is rude.

11:37 If 30 million people live in an area of 7 million km2, the population density would be ca 4.3 people per km2, not 0.2 Btw it’s called area, not distance

It’s not a surprise or weird that people want to live near water rather than in a desert, why say that it’s strange??

This connects with my thought about the USA's population. Most people either live near a coast or near the Great Lakes and/or near one of the major rivers. I work with international students who are amazed that about half the nation is, well, low population. This video seems to be stating that commen sense is true globally.

If you exclude the micro states then Bangladesh is the densely populated country on earth. I guess you should have include this information in your video!!!

Bangladesh, Java island and Uttar Pradesh must be fascinating, I really want to visit. Especially because these places are not just metropolitan areas but people are actually spread out in the countryside in a fairly even yet very dense manner. Basically you travel around the country and you stumble upon a town every odd minute 😅

insane Fact : the third largest Iranian province, south Khorasan, is slightly larger than Bangladesh , but has over *210* times less people. Crazy Fact: Uttar Pradesh (the most populated subdivision in the world) is slightly smaller than Wyoming (the least populated American state), but over *300* Times more people

You could have also talked about the Canadian territories. Nunavut is actually the least densely populated major country sub-division in the world (not considering Antarctica), even less densely populated than Greenland
